    Ever since I’ve been consistently bounding, doing plyometrics and watching other jumpers after getting serious into triple jumping, I’ve increased my old pr (38’11) to 44’5 within 6 months. It’s crazy how much these little things can do

    Right now my pr is about 33 ft and I have spent months trying to get to 38-40 ft but I just haven't been improving lately, in fact, I have a meet in the next 3 weeks, do you have any suggestions of which I could use or any tips on anything I should implement in my training?
    Also, there is one problem I have been noticing, after my hop phase I can't get a good distance in my step phase, the distance I get in my step phase is as if I literally just took a step, its like my legs cannot create the power to push further after the hop phase, you got any reasons or things I can change or do for that?? @@ktjm77 do you know what changed to give you that momentum into the second phase?

    • @ktjm77
      @ktjm77 Před rokem +3

      @@andyli3608 try making ur hop a tiny bit less because if you are reaching out and hopping way too far then you will land really hard and it will have like a huge crash affect on you and you second phase will be hard to carry out so make you hop more natural
      also land with an active foot, so as soon as you land try explode back into a bound for your step. also try shortening your approach because a too long approach can make you tired by the time you reach the board and make you lose speed.
      last thing is to practice short 5-10 stride approaches on a smaller board and like bring your knees up through the phases
      also add a lot of bounding and plyometrics similar to bounding to help you get used to bringing your knees up and actually bounding rather than stepping forward on your step phase.

    • @sofievoldstad9159
      @sofievoldstad9159 Před rokem

      This season I have PRed so far by 3 feet and hoping to get 3 feet higher than PR in 2 days to win a meet.
      1. Don’t land too hard after hop, it’ll strain your leg too much to be able to have a good step phase
      2. Bring your front knee on the step phase up very high, and try to keep it that high for as long as possible.
      Good luck!

    • @oolamigoke
      @oolamigoke  Před rokem

      This all varies based on your experience. Some good rules to follow early on are to count your ground contacts rather than your distances, and that the quality of your bounding should always take precedence over the quantity.
