With a huge following and major blockbusters under his belt, Zack Snyder has seemingly secured a deal with Netflix to kinda do whatever he wants. We saw this come to fruition with Army of the Dead a few years ago and now he’s at it again with kinda Star Wars!
Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire definitely raises some questions. Like is this movie a long montage? Why is everything slow-mo? When you join the squad, are you required to just stand silently in the background?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire!

Rebel Moon Part One: Pitch Meeting: Snyder Cut
This is what you get when all your "writers" grew up playing video games. two-dimensional overpowered characters, constant plot contrivances, and a total reliance on CGI over actual story lines.
Those damn video games corrupted the youth
The film felt like a fantasy RPG where you spend the first half recruiting your party but you don’t bother to go through each of your companion’s dialogue options to max out their affinity. Your only interest is that everyone looks cool and has good stats.
😂 Nailed it.
This is spot on accurate.
Yep that was basically it. I mean it was a fun watch and all but nothing special.
or you just are content with the first 3 people who joined, and the rest join so late they are not worth levelling up.
Final Fantasy 3 or 4 maybe.
This is the most accurate pitch meeting ever filmed. You should have done it in slow motion.
Finally, a good time to use that "0.5" speed tab on CZcams! Double the pitch meeting, double the fun!
That’s for the Andrew Ryan Cut
@@BaronVonHardchargerwrong, 0.25 at the wrong time and 0.5 at climax

If the slave holder already had the beast tamer and the beast itself, why did he wait for people to try to take the beast tamer away before deciding to have him tame the beast?
perfect timing.
Because Zack Snyder doesn't need coherent writing, characters etc. All he needs is slowmo (or even slowmo in already slowmo scenes), symbolism without any subtlety and a cery basic idea for a "plot".
Seriously he knows how to make stuff look cool but for the love of god stop letting him write stuff. He is good as a director, that's it. He can't write to save his life.

It's a shame Ryan didn't mention by far the stupidest moment in the movie where Bloodaxe guy kills a side turret gunner and dies in the process, but then his hand falls down to a lever and pushes it accidentally, and then the whole ships starts leaning, loses balance and crumbles down to the ground as if the the entire ship was controlled from the side turret cockpit .

I especially liked how they recruited the general dude because he was this tactical genius, and then he proceeded to bring exactly nothing to the table for the rest of the film.

The one robot dude sounds like a good movie on its own. I don't know how it would go, but the design for the guy at the end looks awesome, and a more organic sci-fi aesthetic that is more metaphorical than "This space ship literally has veins, and is basically a living organism" would be kind of neat.
Both the robot and white knight boy would have been better characters to put in her rebel crew. And even the girl for that matter. So many missed opportunities.
@@coltonruscheinsky7863 The spider lady would have been a good addition too. Hated the "empire" and would have solved her own problem, because she could have reproduced on the moon they were fighting for. But no, have to use her to show how cool the lightsabre woman was.
@@BrutalBeast666 Damn, that's brilliant. It would have also diversified an entirely human cast. Zach Snider is the WORST writer.
I tried watching this movie, but gave up halfway through and watched the Pitch Meeting instead. Exactly right that the whole movie could have been a montage! I love it! My only dissapointment is that Ryan is probably not enough of a Star Trek fan to notice that the "Spider Lady" was the freaking BORG QUEEN! It's *waving (not "waiving").
Two entirely different definitions. Simply put, waving is a motion, while waiving is the action of disregarding, making something inapplicable, or excusing - such as waiving an extra fee for canceling an airline ticket.

Probably will only be used for this movie but the “great scene! Great scene” bit with the nod is amazing
It was more than great scene, though. Also great weapon for the not-lightsabers, and great villains for the not-stormtroopers (I think).
But, we may be seeing the birth of a new recurring joke here.
Great bad guys!
I love the scene where they have the heroes trapped but for no reason leave one of them free and then give him the device that can free the others for no reason at all other than they'd written themselves into a corner.
I genuinely thought it was gonna be a twist, like the dude who double crossed them was just doing it to get them onto the ship where'd he'd then release them or give them a way to escape. But no he was just straight evil.
And unironically killed one of the 2-3characters that even had some sort of character arc.
Like Kai's character wasn't amazing, that accent was definitely a choice, but he's probably one of the few characters who I was even remotely interested in. Then they killed him.
Tight.
That wasn't just an overview of the movie, that was literally everything that happened.
And more entertaining
I kinda think this pitch meeting was somehow MORE than everything that happened
It just tells how paper thin the story was. What a joke! Zack needs a good writer because he's a visual director. He's very weak at storytelling.

I'm a bit disappointed you missed how the assassin lady monologued about how seeking revenge is bad. Then, when they got the general guy, they convinced him to join them by promising he can seek revenge.
There were more of those weird RPG-style moments in this movie, where one character starts a conversation or fight and the rest watch and don't participate.
Which is ironic, because that same lady went on a killing spree in revenge of her killed family.
Dude right. Like what was the point of the moral code if your not going to follow through with it lmao. And none of the recruits actually did anything for the purpose of the movie other than be recruited.

That sent me.
I didn't know I always wanted to see that gag until I saw it.
When writer guy started shaking the screenplay I lost it a little bit. Also, when producer guy says, "Subtle." This was a wonderful pitch meeting, as per usual.
Shaking the papers expecting more description or script to fall out was great!
They did a thing with the neat looking robot where the troops were jerks to him, then the village girl was nice. Then he told her his entire species life story to date. Then they were like "Anyway. . ." and just went to other characters.
I was like: "Thanks, Exposition-bot!"
Then I realized I needed to keep an I out for the pitch meeting.

@@ANTIStraussian I do not even think Somalia pirates from today's world would demand wheat and their only armed with AK's and RPG's, how brain dead of a writer would you have to be to write this.
@@drake000666 when they landed I thought. Oh they are going to force the farmers to skip the harvest and go into the mines and dig up some space crystals. Because the space crystals are used as fuel for opening subspace rifts.
Then the farmers would cry out, "if we spend the next few months mining fuel for your ship we will starve this winter!"
And the evil guy would say i don't care!
The fact they actually wanted wheat will never stop being funny. Snyder is amazing.

You made your position very clear there, at the end.
Just watched part 2. I’m sure I saw a Thumbnail for part 2 (pitch meeting) but somehow i can’t find it. Has it been deleted ? Can someone can help ? I feel like I’m crazy
With all these movies coming out the way they are, I swear this is how movie executives actually talk behind the scenes. 😅
Rebel Moon is the ultimate "That reminds me of...." movie. Several scenes had me think that reminds me of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Dune, Harry Potter, 300, Thanos adopting Gamora, Jake Sully taming the banshee, Android 16 basking in nature, the grasshoppers taking grain from the ants in A Bug's Life. Even the brother and sister reminded me of Matrix characters for some reason.

Plus there's at least one actor you might recognize if you've seen Sons of Anarchy or The Gentlemen
It’s Member Berries the movie!

Oh, I member!
It steals the most from 40k
I wanted to write an IMDB review titled "You've already seen this movie". I didn't, for several reasons. But it makes me happy I'm not the only one who noticed how bad this was.

Suddenly my robot lawnmower seems to be lacking something.

Thank you for your level of transparency. It's truly refreshing to see CZcams creators blur the lines and reveal behind the scenes.
OMG I just realized I did watch the whole movie, WTF!!?! All of this is EXACTLY what happened and how little I felt for it.
The "Oh No, Darren...Darien. Oh no" part was great, as was Ryan shaking the script.
Please do the second one immediately!
Fanning the papers when saying "probably offscreen or something" was chefs kiss comedy gold haha
Watching a pitch meeting for a movie you’ve never seen is super easy barely an inconvenience
And never plan on :D
@@dahammer044what is :D???
I could have gotten those hours back if only I'd waited for the Pitch Meeting to come out. 😭
Oh really?
Pitch Meetings are how I decide my watchlist
"just to be sure; this is a montage you're describing"
"no. this IS the movie" lmao
Hey Ryan, my wife and I love your stuff! We just watched Skyscraper starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the entire movie my wife and I kept saying - "there should be a pitch meeting for this!!". Please???
