Hey Apollo you should attack convoys especially those noblemen gatherings. They help lower unrest but it has a time limit to attack them at they differ in the enemies strength.
Also i would like to add you will here them through notifications from your scouts and can be tracked through the map
btw the roman ranks are the following:
Legionary - Regular Soldier
Tesserarius - "Boss" of the NCOs (Non Commissioned Officer)
Optio - The 2nd hand of the Centurion
Centurion - Officer (leads the troops)
Primus Pilus - XO (Executive Officer) (leads the whole division or some part of it)
Praefectus Castrorum - CO (Commanding Officer) (leads the whole division)
BANNER RANKS:
Signifier - Banner bearer of each division
Cornicen - The guy with the trumpet
Aqualifier - A soldier bearing the Eagle of Rome
Imagnifier - The guy with the image of the face of the current Emperor

6:40 fun fact: pila were designed so that the shaft would bend on impact to prevent the enemy picking them up and throwing them back and more effectively lodge them in enemy shields
So Caesar claims in De Bello Gallico:

Hey Apollo, here are a few tips, I did my own playthrough of this game. In order to upgrade your officers and get more space in your legion, each officer rank essentially makes room for the next. If you upgrade your Optio into a Centurion, you'll be able to upgrade your Tessarius into an Optio and then get a new Tessarius making room for another recruit. Afterwards, once you get a flag bearer and Cornicen you'll have a full legion and you'll be able to start recruiting another Century.
The ranks that follow aren't anything you need till late game and are pretty expensive anyways. In my experience quantity works better than quality and just mass promoting your legionaries and making room for new Centuries works best. Quality isn't super necessary, since you get enough gold from looting settlements that again you can just mass recruit.
When I take a settlement I usually always looted, enslaved a quarter, and taxed a quarter. Their unrest never got bad enough for it to matter it actually stayed about the same as the settlements in your playthrough except mine made me way more money lol.
Keep an eye out for raiding parties on your map though. It looks like all the other notifications so I didn't notice it until I opened my map and saw one heading for my base. It was a massive amount of enemies and they kept actively spawning as I fought, lost a ton of soldiers.
The game is fun but it can be kinda slow at times and after you finish upgrading your Legion to the max it feels pretty pointless because at that point you just absolutely dominate everything. I never conquered the whole map or explored a ton, so maybe there were bigger cities that can actually challenge you at that point, I'm not sure, but it'd be fun to watch you stream this game.
There's no reason not to go for both quantity and quality though, you get enough excess gold to not really have to worry about it but you also get quite a bit of silver, so recruiting and improving are both just as important

The legion was created by Julius Caesar Himself in 57 b.C.
With him in command they served in the Gaul Wars and in the first invasion of Britannia.
Later on they sided with their commander in the Roman civil war.
And, for the great loyalty shown towards Caesar (and other commanders after him), they where awarded (not only with land and glory) with the username “Pia Fidelis” (pious and faithful)

Give us a series plz. Pro tip: as you saw villages aint a piece of cake, and from all the gameplays i saw untill now everybody gets reckted kinda easly, so the best thing to do is to have always a GOOD advantage on the enemy(like have double the force they have, be a bit tactic when comes to battles), dont get cocky only because you are playing romans, expecially more you progress to other villages (also some scouting without the legion to see how many people that fight are in a village would be good, you can distinguish fighetrs from civilians cauze the first ones are mostly shirtless while civs wear a sort of green simple thing)
