John Manning I did as well. No matter where you lived in the country on Saturday afternoons at 3:30 (eastern time, of course 12:30 west coast time for the USC/UCLA games) or the occasional evening game and when you heard Keith's voice on your ABC station, it was not just a ordinary College Football game, it was the big game of that particular week.

The heart of a poet, the perfect timing of a dancer, these lyrical words that you chose, so fittingly describes Keith Jackson….I always stood in awe whenever I would see and “listen up” to his distinctive voice….I am saddened, and yet, amazed that it has been 25 years since he left us, for another game for another broadcast game, that only the Angels can hear….may the good Lord welcome him gently into.his “forever” home….😂

I'm here today like many others, looking back on a voice that will never be quiet. A true professional, a true southern gentleman. As I enter my 22 year in radio broadcast I think back on my early years. Looking in the mirror reading anything I could get my hands on, listings to the greats on tv and radio. Always at the top of that list was two people Ralph Emery and Keith Jackson. You see, growing up in South Georgia I had to over come something that was natural something I thought was normal, that accent! Keith had it why couldn't I? It's 2018 I still have it, so did Keith, I heard him speak a couple years ago and the most important thing he said was if you can't say it in 10 seconds don't say it at all ....I'm over 10 seconds now please forgive me Mr Jackson, may you rest in peace my friend!

He also brought pleasantry and class to NBA broadcasts on ABC with Bill Russell in the early 1970s, the end of the Red Holzman era for the Knicks, who won a couple of championships in that time, while Jabbar and the Big "O" took one in Milwaukee.
