    I am 39, my mom had me separating laundry at 5 and handing her the laundry as she hung it out on the line. By the time I was 7 I was doing laundry and hanging out clothes by myself with a chair to stand on. Grab a piece of laundry, up the chair, hang it out, down off chair, move chair, another piece. My daughter is a freshman at college that lives close enough to come home on the weekends. She brings her laundry home and does it herself. She has been doing laundry and hanging it out on the line (we do have a dryer, but 85% of the time we hang it out) since she was 9 or 10. Now, I am not saying that everyone has to start so young, but parents really do their children an injustice by not teaching them to be independent. I am so glad that you are making this video. I am sure it is so helpful to so many. This is a lesson that they will take and use throughout life. Great video.

    Laundry guy here. My coworker has great smelling clothes, I asked what she used and she said it was Arm and Hammer with oxiclean . I’m going to try A@H Clean Burst, I bought the Downy Calm fabric softener you showed, and I’m
    Going to try the Kirkland dryer sheets you showed! All that should make my laundry smell really good , I hope 😊! I always clean out the lint filter after each dryer run and leave the washer door open after to let dry out . Also never over stuff the washer with clothes, I usually fill it with clothes about a little more than 3/4 . The clothes need space in the washer to “ swim around “ to get clean 🙂. Thanks for the tips!

    just a tip with the softener, putting it directly on your clothes can stain your clothes overtime! you can buy a downy ball or put it in the center where the softener goes! loved the video i wanna buy that scent so i can try it for the next time i do laundry

    Be sure to put the downy in the dispenser as it’s just being washed away in the first wash the way it’s added to the start of the wash. If you are really frisky you can add it to the final rinse but then you have to really pay attention to the wash! That or use a downy ball it will release it automatically just like the washer does for the dispenser!

      Too much detergent causes clothing to smell bad over time. Soap has waxy material in it and it builds up. Use much less detergent and add vinegar (1/2 cup) to the fabric softener drawer. The vinegar will start to remove some of the waxy residue from the overuse of detergent. Also never leave clothes sitting in the washer as they will get stinky

    I would suggest turning the water on first, then add your detergent and let the water fill up all the way before you start adding clothes. Washers fill up the water level by weight, so if it's already full of clothes it will give you less water to clean with. Your soap won't be evenly distributed and could stain your clothes.

    • @shaelynnvopalensky6834
      @shaelynnvopalensky6834 Před 3 lety +14

    My daughter said same thing about dorm washers. For whatever reason, they wouldn’t disintegrate the laundry pod.
    Always put fabric softener or bleach in the properly labeled dispenser of the machine. I top off the fabric dispenser with water to ensure it all enters the machine. Fabric softener dispenses from the dispenser itself during the rinse cycle.

The buttons are self explanatory for the most part. Google what you don't understand. Heavy and hot settings wear clothes out faster. That's all 95% of people need to know. For those of you who sort... Try not doing that. See if it makes any difference at all, I haven't seen any.
