Hello from Mumbai, India. I just dilute the fabric softener with water, put into a spray bottle and use as an air freshener, including spraying upholstery, curtains, blinds, mops, bathroom tiles etc
This is a brilliant idea - it really works. I tried it in a smelly bathroom yesterday & today it smelt the best I’ve ever been able to get it. I did one bowl like above & another bowl with the base as baking soda. Both worked perfectly. Thank you for sharing this ❤
A helpful tip would be to mix in larger quantity in a large bowl. Find some small used plastic containers to drill small holes in the lids. Fill said containers with mixture so if for some reason they get knocked over by a creature (my cat) it won't be a mess to clean up.
Plus, the salt will draw up any excess moisture in the room, and the mixture will be damp pretty quickly if used in the cold months with double glazed windows. 😊
From Conway South Carolina - Thank you - I have to try this. We use a pot of water with cloves, orange peel and cinnamon on the stove in winter to provide moisture and make the house smell festive - this is one of my Holiday hacks -smells yummy!
@@IVant2BAlonesometimes it's the orange that makes the fragrance off, leave it out and just add the spices you like. Cinnamon, clove, anise, nutmeg. You'll come up with something you like. Going to try this seems a good idea . In the past during winter I get a damp cloth put some fabric softener on it & I wipe down my radiators then when my heating comes on the smell is good . Thanks for sharing tip . From across the pond
Interesting tip. Seems simple enough. I'd like to know, though, how fast does the coarse salt dissolve? And also, I'm trying to figure out what a fabric softener and clove would smell like. They don't sound to be compatible smells? Around the holidays I like to take a big orange and push cloves all around it. That is truly a divine smell for Fall and Winter.
When I was a teen my friend and I hated this potpourri scent at her house. It was the kind you ad water and flower petals to and is heated when plugged in. It smelled like cheap dollar store bathroom fell scents. One day she had this great idea, she would put a piece of her shit in the potpourri and let it steam out so her mom would stop using it. A day later a fresh pot was back in it, so she did it again. I was crying from laughter every time someone would comment on the smell of the potpourri. Her mom kept making us smell the bag to see if it’s rotten and tried maybe 4 times to make a new batch but the stuff kept ending up smelling like an outhouse so she finally stopped and tossed it all.
Hi from the UK ❤ 👋 - Funny to see that after I've used a similar method to make fluid for my electric refresher tired of having to pay big money for the retail refills. Hello from Saskatchewan Canada What a lovely recipe for a Natural air fragrance I will make some ! I use a lot of natural cleaners especially lemons vinegar and baking soda . Thank you for sharing! !
Any other spices you have going bad, too. Pepper is cool, i used star anise once. Strain and pour in a glass sprayer when it’s still hot. This actually smells rich.
Clean doesn't have a smell, so there's never a need to add layers of neurotoxic chemicals that also contain endocrine and other organ disruptors, respiratory irritants, eye irritants, skin irritants, carcinogens, etc. to the air to try to mask whatever odors you have happening. I sure hope there aren't any kids or pets in the home. Just keep it clean with non-toxic fragrance-free cleaners (not "green" cleaners with essential oils, as they're even more potent and also harmful to many). A realtor (and any adult with common sense) should really know better. When folks walk into homes and smell all of the fragranced chemicals, they'll be wondering what you're trying to hide. Bake something, use a simmer pot with spices/citrus/etc., get an air purifier, open some windows. Truly "clean and fresh" never comes from a bottle of laboratory engineered chemical concoctions, but indoor air pollution surely does - as well as outdoor as you pump it out of your dryer vents and it drains out of your washer into the water ways. You may not feel immediate effects, that you're aware of, because the symptoms of exposure mimic many other illnesses, but the cumulative effects will eventually take their toll in the most uncomfortable way(s).
Well said with much care & details of purposes. You spoke my mind. Frankly, I can't stand the smell of any Fabric Softener. This is not only toxic but senseless to do. 🙏🙏🙏
I soak orange peel in white vinegar for a multipurpose cleaner, and if I want to remove mould, I add cloves to the white vinegar and orange peel for a few days before straining it and bottling it. I just use an essential oil diffuser or natural incense, or you could save your citrus peels and gently boil them on the stove with cinnamon sticks and cloves. That is especially good in the winter when the air can be dry.
AGREE - whenever I use to use it my dogs would start Sneezing as soon as I took the clothes out of the washing machine all the way to the clothes Line Outdoors 😮

Same here. Spices are wonderful for both our senses and health. The chemicals in fabric softener aren't good for us. We don't think much of it when we're younger, all we know is it smells fresh. As we age and begin suffering the consequences from exposure to it we realize just how foolish it was to ignore the warnings.
I just use a mix of long lasting floralfabric conditioner and water in a spray bottle, just spray the curtains and fabrics a little in the morning, and your house smells fresh all day. It's also good on clothes and bedding if they've been stored a while. If you're a non smoker with a car, do this in the car ash trays but use those dessicated gel bead packets instead of salt, or facial cleansing pads because salt and cars don't mix.
Texas here..thank you for this tip. My Mother is in very poor health. She is 86 and has incontinence and the sitting room smells so bad! Going to try this for my Dad. He is so embarrassed by the smell.
Try cleaning that area a little more and cover where she sits, you can launder that frequently. Peroxide helps to break down the enzymes. A Bowl of vinegar in the room can help to absorb odors too. Good luck!
Inconstinance is more common as we age. At 75 I know! I use a lot of incontinence pads and sometimes adult diapers. Still there are leaks even using these. I mop a lot with vinegar and water. I am definately going to try the coarse salt mixed with fabric softner and cloves.
I haven't tried this trick, but when we go out of town or are away a few hours I pour a cup of granular salt in toilet BOWL, let it sit and then flush it down. It helps keep tree roots from growing or kills the root, but not the tree.
Great tip!! From Virginia..... I use Fabric softener to wipe down the vinyl surfaces in my car after sanitizing it and some of my furniture after testing a small area. Just a small amount on a soft cloth, leaves a nice scent in the house and when areas heat up or gets warm.....the scent is enhanced!!
I sometimes do that around my home with a favorite body lotion, wipe off dining room chairs, base boards around the house. Seat cushions on couch and loveseat, I have to use caution so I don't strip any furniture. I like the fabric softener sheets as well, fresh and used, gets up tons of dust...
Beware of what you spread all over your environment that is toxic and then you breathe it in your lungs that’s how people get lung cancer you don’t have to be a smoker to die of lung cancer. You just got to be around a lot of chemicals I wouldn’t put fabric softener on anything it’s all toxic. Go buy some essential oils that are healthy. You’ll get a much better results and live longer to enjoy it.
Fabric conditioner is brilliant for removing dust and fluff off surfaces. Furniture, TVs, etc. you need a wet clean cloth. Pour a capful of conditioner onto the cloth. Spread the conditioner all over the cloth. Wring it out well. Dry on a radiator until completely dry. Take cloth and dust softly over the tv screen. (De-statics the tv). Softly dust all sides, tables, chairs and all Dustable surfaces. And you will also have a fresh smelling home. Shake the cloth thoroughly outside.

@Mlyndt you can try it.
Inconstinance is more common as we age. At 75 I know! I use a lot of incontinence pads and sometimes adult diapers. Still there are leaks even using these. I mop a lot with vinegar and water. I am definately going to try the coarse salt mixed with fabric softner and cloves.

I have a small bladder and I feel this is my fate when I age. I’m 38 now and do kegal exercises as much as possible
Thanks for the tip I'm in JHB South Africa going to try this for sure
You are welcome
What do you do with the dtuff once the smell wears off, do you just refill with fabric softner again? Does it have any other use as well?
I haven't tried this trick, but when we go out of town or are away a few hours I pour a cup of granular salt in toilet BOWL, let it sit and then flush it down. It helps keep tree roots from growing or kills the root, but not the tree.
Thank your tip, love it ! I will share it from Imus,Cavite.😊
Thanks so much

Thank you that's great really loved it from south africa

I will definitely, definitely try it. Been cleaning and spraying the house with the Sweetest smelling softeners
Hope you like it!
Great idea!!
❤
My friend had done laundry & left her box of fabric softener sheets in the trunk for a couple of days- the car smelled fabulous!

Hi and hello from PR what great idea😊thank you for the info.

Am watching from Kenya. Thanks for this easy beautiful tip.❤
Thanks friend.
I just discovered, after 6 months of wearing them y scrub pants for work were made in Kenya. Hello! I think that's the 1st time I saw anything made from Kenya. I'm in Florida U.S.A.
Thank you just done this hack and my room feels like heaven looking forward to the new videos
Wow amazing. I will
Watching from Tallahassee Florida live this idea❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching!
This works nd we get long lasting freshness...I used rice instead of rock salt nd still beautiful fragrance ❤
Thanks for your sharing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hmm, rice does seem like the better substitute for salt - at least it won't dissolve in a humid room. How long does the mix last before you need to make another batch?
@@user-kpkxgtj thats my question too. I hope they reply @phnompenhrealestate
