W124 Rear Differential Service

Performing the rear differential service on the 1992 400E. This is a non-ASR car. ASR cars will have a different fluid capacity. The oil specification for this is 235 which is straight 90W. 85w-90 should be ok.

Actually if you have asd you definitely need to use mercedes own differential oil

I have done this, and heed the advice from The Friendly Neighborhood Technician, this stuff stinks and you don't want it anywhere on yourself. Nasty nasty smell...

Second worst smell that can come from working on a car. First place is taken by cylinder head bolts.
