  • Today, in preparation for our tune, we are deleting some unnecessary systems on our 2002 1.8t Volkswagen Beetle! These systems include the secondary air injection, N249 valve, PCV, and evaporative emissions. This delete will enable us to run a catch can, to filter out blow by, and overall clean up the engine bay!

    Unless I missed it, you should put links in the description of where you bought the parts.

    Hi! I’m curious, if you do the SAI delete do you have to delete the evap system? My sai pump is bad and makes a whining noice on cold starts, I don’t want to delete the evap system so should I just replace the pump? And if so do you know where I could find replacement hosing from the “covee valve? To the sai pump

    Did you have to add a check valve on the brake booster line? I see you still have the vac pump thing hooked up with one end open, does that leak ?

    So what happends if you dont have resistors? Obviously a check engine light but will the car run rich or lean or stay the same and just have the light on?

    It's 2023 let's chat. The evap doesn't need to be deleted just like your catalytic convertor. Most importantly if you don't have a tune...don't bother with this delete you'll fail any emissions test. Honestly the reason for bypassing most of this is to allow your motor to run cleaner and make it simpler to diagnose any vacuum leaks. If you live in the US you'll have a real challenge to get a ahem legal tune that's not $$$ brand name as the CARB exempt laws to coral ignorant diesel pick-up owners put most small tuning shops out of business in 2022.

    You should post a video of routine maintenance. I noticed your brake fluid is dirty. Change all the drivetrain fluids and stuff to start with a solid foundation. Take the car to autocross lol.

    just a heads up it looks like you are running the wrong coolant in there. You should only run the proper G13 coolant (violet). Anything else contains different things that can eat the plastic connectors and worse pit/erode the inside of the block. I've ran into this in one of my several VW's. Good video though. Keep it up, the 1.8T's have a lot of potential.

    Did you get the ecu tuned to make up for this or just use the resistor packs? An ecu tune will give you a very noticeable increase.

    Is the open air breather better than stock? Any better mpg or air flow hotter without stock.

    • @nelsonc562
      @nelsonc562 Před 2 lety +1

      That’s a big misconception, unless you get it tuned you really won’t notice a difference after awhile. When you first do an upgrade like that you will see a difference not much but slight. The unfortunate thing with computer ran vehicles is after some miles driven the computer will recalibrate back to its factory tuned specification. Even though it was consuming much needed airflow without a tune to accommodate to the new airflow it’ll fall back to its normal application eventually.

      Same here, I have turbo as well and I kept putting it off until I watched video on crankcase venting tubes, which were all wasted and falling apart so lucky to find. It took 5 minutes to take out, just unbolt bracket then unbolt pump then work out from under intake

    How do you do to pass the emissions test

    • @cartermaneki
      @cartermaneki  Před 3 lety

      In our state they only do a visual tamper check for the catalytic converter and a check for MIL codes. With resistors or a proper tune you wouldn't run any codes related to these modifications.
