- Today we install a Megan Racing short throw shifter into our 2002 1.8t Volkswagen Beetle! A common issue with MK4 Volkswagens is the shifters in the 5 speeds wear out and begin to feel less than optimal over time, so we fixed it!

Hey bud. did you not have to adjust the shifter like you did via the factory adjustment pic on the hsifter?

Do you have to remove the shifter assembly to install the kit or can you replace everything without removing it
Where did you get the pin that goes in the shifter lockout handle and what kind is it? my kit did not include one.
I used a 20d nail that I cut in half. The 20d nail is the exact same size as the hole in the shifter so it’s a pretty tight fit
Would this work on the 6speed beetle turbo
How’s reverse with it?
U change shift knob or keep same?
Why you no grease the end of your shaft?

This kit is advertised to fit the '99-'03 Golf/GTI/Beetle/Jetta.
Correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t you keep the box in the car instead of taking it out
Oetiker clamp pliers arent that bad anymore, can get a decent set for under $20
Do you have to take out the gearbox? You cant just put it in from inside the car ?
You can pop the bottom panel off of the gear shifter mechanism with a flat head screw driver that's what i did
Didn't have to take anything else off other than the bits on top inside the car

these vw kids and their forehead combovers these days, you use a flat screw driver to open up that boot ring..
