One thing cool about Nicholson's Joker is that even after being down and battered by Batman he still manages to employ his Joker bag of tricks like the fake teeth, eyeglasses & fake arm. This is classic trickster Joker.
@@JohnDoe-gk7ok Ledger had comedy bro it was there in the way he walked and did stuff like grab hand santizer, he made a few jokes but most of it was physical comedy. I mean Jack REALLY had a TON of jokes so yeah.
@boulderguy888 why? Hamill's (in TAS) was an evil mobster turned madman. Pure evil. Kevin Michael Richardson's Joker is just insane.
He's my second favorite. My first is Cameron Monaghan.
Hi my love
To be fair, ledger joker did admit his jokes weren't so good during his entrance
Im the 666th like
I like how Joker didn't even take the whole fight serious. Just cracking jokes and pulling gags the whole time.
"As my plastic surgeon always said, if you've *got* to go, go with a *smile* !!!"
It's more because he KNEW he couldn't beat him in a physical fight
Well, it's The JOKER 😆
And let be honest, there's no way he stand a chance against Batman.
,,,,,,.....and Batman is more youngest than The Joker , but well joker is the most supervillain has no need superpowers ! He would be a genius of crime, electric traps and bombs!!
That's the Joker what did you expected?
I like how Michael Keaton can be so intimidating by just speaking softly in his normal voice.
that's why he's my favorite Batman.
He is my favourite Batman and it was his idea to have a different voice as Batman.
😸😸😸
yep when you think about it he doesnt really need to speak at all and when he does he does so in a way where you barely recognize his voice
@@TheReelDealFilmReviews 🎞️
People often think that Batman has to have a very deep and grumbly voice, but Keaton's cool, soft Batman voice is perfect for the character, and it's music to the ears.
Him and Kevin Conroy. Soothing

The funny thing is keaton invented the interpretation
Batman actually did speak mostly in a deep grumbly voice in the movie. But Keatons voice in here was his Bruce Wayne voice as he revealed he's the son of Thomas and Martha Wayne, whom Joker killed.
@@tobyforrester He certainly did not. Maybe a little deep, but Keaton has a smooth voice.
“You wouldn’t hit a guy with glasses on would ya?”
Batman just nails him with a solid punch. My favorite part of the fight.
yes, that was PURE GOLD. This entire confrontation and beatdown was EPIC...Hands down. Love the joker's groan of pain when batman upper cuts him in the gut LOL. And Batman's condescending smirk when he tells the joker before hand that "I know you did, I know you tried."

Jack Nicholson In My Opinion, Best Portraying The Joker.
@@sallymiller9147 I agree 😂😂😂
Haha
In case people are wondering. When Batman first confronts Joker here, he uses his normal Bruce Wayne voice. He wanted Joker to know who he was before he killed him.
Bingo. And he does know that's why he says "I was only a kid when I killed your parents"....
Plus adding to the fact that Bruce used the phrase "You ever dance in the pale moonlight?" Given how Jack says he says that to all his "prey"
I think that short exhale and his questioning at 1:00 must be Jack putting the pieces together.
YES!@@skepticcritic4995
My favourite movie. Since 1989 when I was three. Never put this together somehow.
0:10 something I love about this film is the lighting, Burton just knows exactly how to light Batman to make him look like a gothic creature of the night
i read he took inspiration from the old dracula movie
I lost my sh*t when joker said “you wouldn’t hit a guy with glasses , would ya?” 😂
@Joel Johnson Phoenix's joker wasn't funny at all the guy was extremely depressing. And on top of that I didn't see anything that made him stand out as a super criminal except for being s*** on by society. Nicholson Jokers attributes... science, chemistry, and art. Heath ledger's attribute able to form a plan on top of a plan on top of a plan. Phoenix attributes heavily medicated, and extremely depressing.
Lmao
“Feel free to drop in…”
He did some Three stooges reference. Batman only punched him because he hates him. Places to get even with him.
Changed his voice even 😂😂😂
Joker: "Sometimes I kill myself."
Gravity: "He'll appreciate my punchline."
You know, on a certain level, I think that he really *did* appreciate it.

01:22 I like how the joker just all of a sudden gained super strength to be able to pull two full sized people from a lower position with ease. Such a badass
Its certainly super strength. Even how he decides that he will start climbing the ladder before its reached his feet, so he will be doing chin ups on several of the rungs, then the jokers strength on how he is able to hold on that ladder for so long with stone that is heavier than the balls they use in the Strongman Contests. “I made you? You made me first!”
The most underrated line in the whole film. Very powerful.
Basically, look what you made me become!
Except this has nothing to do with Batman canon and contradicts his character is a peaceful, non-revenge oriented hero
Actually, it is very accurate to Batman canon. This is INCREDIBLY close to many of his characterizations in the comics, and I would never call Batman "peace-loving" necessarily. He protects the innocent & helpless, but quite literally "wars" on all criminals.
No, dummy... He made Batsy. So many idiots liked your peasant mind. No surprise. Most ppl are pea brained. 😒

I love Nicholson gets more and more manic as the film goes on. He starts off crazy and just gets more insane
Joker's batshit crazy
As an 8 year old watching this movie in theaters rooting for the joker, I didn’t care for the ending. Was very sad 😂
Well- shooting his old boss dead (Carl Grissom) and a few minutes later planning that the city "got a load of him" seems to me a hard start after all, so I don't think that he grows more and more insane. I think that he always remains the same.
@@Alantheleopard I mostly mean in the way that in a lot of it he’s charismatic, calmed and occasionally laughs a bit, but getting into the end here, he just loses all composure and starts cackling like Vincent Price in Thriller, particularly when he’s hanging off the side of the tower.
@@Gogetta80 yeh I always thought for such a perfect film killing the joker off was pretty dumb, there was easily enough room for a second movie to culminate a second sensational episode of the two foes.
I like that, given the fact that the Joker still calls Bruce bat brain, he actually doesn’t realize who Batman is, but still says that he was a kid when he killed his parents. Implying that he left so many kids orphaned when he was young that he can’t even keep track anymore. This Joker truly is a monster.
Yeah I was wondering what he meant? He doesn’t know that Bruce Wayne is Batman. But here he clearly acts like he knows the exact parental double murder he’s referring to. It’s also not credible that he was a mobster that killed many parents BEFORE he became joker.
I always thought Joker had realised Batman is Bruce Wayne, since Batman said the same line back to him that Joker had said to Bruce. I see now that he may not have known, remembering that after he said it to Bruce, he then said "I always say that to all my victims"
He was 26 when he killed Bruce's parents.
Bob didn’t know who Bruce Wayne was at first referring to him as “some guy named Wayne.” Bruce Wayne being a high profile billionaire in Gotham and Bob didn’t know who he was? Lol
@@cyrus7241 I believe initially the Joker was unaware of who Batman was or what he was talking about but likewise put two and two together to remember the wealthy couple young Jack Napier shot in cold blood as a low-level street hood and connected mafioso associate up and coming decades before he worked his way up the ladder in the Gotham City mafia crime syndicate run by late former Don Carl Grissom and became a made man/member, high ranking mafioso soldier, pro hitman, top enforcer and underboss under Carl Grissom years after Jack Napier shot the Waynes in front of eight year old Bruce Wayne. When the Joker said, "I was just a kid when I killed your parents, " I believe the Joker realized that both Bruce Wayne was Batman and that Bruce/Batman was the orphaned sole surviving child of the wealthy couple Jack and his accomplice mugger, Joe Chill, the triggerman in the Wayne murders in the comics and Nolan's Dark Knight remake trilogy, but a mere accomplice mugger and low-level street thug and associate to Jack in Burton's original 89 Batman.

On 0:40 Bats looks so scary. He actually wants to hurt the Joker. Being a killing machine, he succumbs to emotions. Tim's Batman is a gem.
He's had enough of Joker's bullshit: realizing Joker killed his parents, tried to poison Gotham, stole his girlfriend, hired goons to kill him...
I love Burton's Batmen (1989 and 1992)
That's why it was so powerful. Batman has a strict code and disciplines himself with how he deals with criminals. With the Joker, there were no rules. The Joker was the be-all-and-end-all of his pain. End The Joker and free the world from torment.
But did killing Joker truly end Bruce's pain. You can tell in some of the other films that in some ways, he's haunted by what he did, he feels some semblance of shame for taking it that far and that's why he became more disciplined and never went for the kill again.

Jack played the TRUE Joker, who lived up to the characters name......he was a JOKER (someone who tells jokes) until the end, even while facing death and getting beat up by Batman, he is telling one joke after the other, and even throwing in some physical comedy with the chattering teeth, "you wouldn't hit a guy with glasses wouldya?" etc. Jacks Joker may not have been as dark as ledger's or Joaquins but damned if he didnt live up to the Jokers actual comic book character and play it to perfection. Batman '89 is the blueprint by which all other Batman films are measured.
My dad likes Joaquin and Heath's performances just fine, but to this day, Jack Nicholson remains his favorite Joker. I'm blessed to have someone like my dad show me all these movies when I was younger. Movies like Tim Burton's Batman films and Richard Donner's Superman were my childhood, and now I spend days talking with people twice my age (I'm 22 now) about movies and music that most people my age don't watch or listen to. I actually wish I was my dad's age to have been able to experience seeing movies like this in the theater, or bands like Van Halen (Rest in Peace, Eddie) in concert.
hey, you're not alone, I hate modern crap and I'm in my 20s.. I also have a great father who has taken the time to show me true classics and I also cried like a baby when Eddie passed.. the guitar music scene really lost a deity that day
@@keepitsecret-dl1pr I play Kramer guitars because of Eddie 😂 he is and will forever be my number 1 inspiration on the guitar.
My dad says Jack's Joker was the best because when Batman had perfect opportunities to kill him. He wouldn't die and the Joker would immediately almost killed Batman at the same time. (The ledge scene, the Bat plane scene etc.)
Only people who grew up watching Michael Keatons Batman would understand how incredible this movie was for it’s time. Then to top it off how fantastic of a job Jack Nicholson did with the role of Joker! 🃏

One thing that shows Tim Burton was ahead of his time was how he failed to “date” this movie. Based on the look of Gotham, the cloths and cars, this movie had no set time so it can never be dated. It is a comic book movie that can be enjoyed 30 years later and doesn’t feel old.

Seriously though this is such a great scene. When the Joker is backing up while Batman is walking towards him slowly saying you killed my parents is some of Nicholsons best work. The way he goes from hey what you taking about, to spitting out blood and then that quick laugh which was such a good reminder of how insane he has become. He talks at times just like he’s still Jack Napier but in between there’s a lot of little things Nicholson does that shows just how far off the deep end his mind has gone. @@begobolehsjwjangan2359 They say this because his portrayal has been overshadowed by Bale, Pattinson, and Conroy over the last thirty five years. Keaton killed and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty while the others followed the modern (post 1940) rules of Batman.
He’s still my favorite live action version and I’m very happy he’s back
When I saw this as a kid, I thought his actual teeth fell out
Man,me too
Hahahahahaha same
Me too, I guess great minds do think alike.😁
me too
It's called acting
Bro thinks he's Walter White 💀
Joker: Here, let me lend you a hand..
Lol, this Joker is so funny..
😂😂😂😂 hilarious
PvZ2 Losers: This seems familiar.
"Excuse me, have you ever danced with the devil in the pail moonlight?"
Classic
I love how Joker goes from laughing, to muttering "shit..." when he's hanging
I love the fact that Joker tried to fight back with a pitiful punch and practically breaks his hand.
Like Catwoman, the Joker had luck on his side. Until the end, the Joker would somehow survive, Batman's perfect attempts on his life.
0:29 damn that sounded like it really hurt
0:30 😅
01:15 Joker and Batman's relationship in a nutshell...
That scream Jack let out when he first let go of the ladder has me laughing like hell when I was a kid! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
SHE LINED HIM UP GOOD THINKING HE WAS BOUT TO GET THAT NECK 😂
0:03 that priceless face
Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was dancing with the devil by the pale moonlight
in a dirty public bathroom or a flight of stairs
Strong Arm
In the dirty public bathroom
With the song rock and roll part two, that's life and white room
The devil must be his mother then.
Heath ledger asked why so serious?
He said You wouldn't get it
He answer his questions
0:12 ow that’s gotta hurt
0:12 That's one way the Joker got his bell rung by Batman.
I would pay Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill to read the script for this scene
Holy Crap! Never had this many likes on a comment!
Ooh that’ll be fun
Yeah I can almost intimidate their voices but I need some time to think and practice. If I can just imagine it.
Can you imagine the opening line from Batman? I don't think Conroy's Batman has ever been so wonderfully sarcastic and flippant.
@@michaelwestmoreland2530
Yes he has. Especially in TAS. He got more serious as the DCAU progressed though.
@@disneyknightspadilla1406 English must not be your first language
4:44 joker blinked, he’s still alive 😂
in DC you don't die from something so weak.
Now that is scary.
I know this is a joke but it’s still haunting to imagine that he didn’t die immediately, and layed there for a minute still alive
did he actually blink
spider-man:miles morales gonna be dope
He damn sure did!! 😳
Interesting trivia: As we all know, Jokers skin was bleached chalk white from the vat of chemicals. If you watch closely in some shots (1:23) his wrists are seen under his purple gloves. In order to make Jacks arms look the same as the makeup, he wore white long gloves under the purple gloves to give off the illusion his skin was white. This would save some time in makeup. The only time we ever see his hands white with makeup and green finger nails is when his hand comes out of the chemicals and when he's applying makeup to his face to hide his white skin.
Jack made the movie as usual
"You think that was easy to get over? Don't think I didn't try" Idk why this line cracks me up lol
"You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses huh would you?" lol
Batman would
Superman???
Nope
@@DJTailsDJT i think he meant that batman hits superman. as superman is klark kent and has glasses etc
@@ihatepewdiepiev2419 PewDiePie is amazing...
Keaton remains the best onscreen Batman for me for this one simple scene:
Joker: You idiot! You made me, remember? You dropped me in that Vat of Chemicals! That wasn't easy to get over and don't think I didn't try!
Batman: (Smiling) I know you did!
In that one scene Keaton displayed so many emotions.
Empathy (I know you tried hard because I tried hard to get over what you did to me!)
Sadistic Pleasure (I am SO happy I caused you that much pain becasue it pales in comparison what you did to me)
Anticipation (I have been looking for you my whole life and I finally found you and now I'm going to tear you open like a Christmas present)
Contempt (I don't want to hear it! After what you put me through you deserve any pain I gave you with that Chemical bath)
All of these emotions in just ONE line "I know you did"
Amen.
People don't give enough credit to Keaton's acting ability in these films. Not every Batman has to scream and yell to be intimidating. Often, it has the opposite effect.
@@thesentinel5523 One of the main reasons why Keaton's Batman is my favourite and always will be is because of the calm and collected portrayal. So intimidating and you just know he's going to fuck up criminals lol.
@@thesentinel5523 100% true. Michael Keaton is the best Batman, it's absurd that there are people who think Ben Affleck or Christian Bale are better. Non of them were as great as the first Batman.
@@ericlopezm it's not that absurd
Heath Ledger was definitely brilliant at playing the Joker but Jack Nicholson just acted more like the classical comic version which is why I think Jack’s is the best.
I love this batman. He tells him straight up "I'm gonna kill you" and then fucking murders him. He even hit him while he was wearing glasses. Brutal.
I love this batman my first batman movie when I was kid.
Batman: "Excuse me, have you ever danced with the Devil in the pale moonlight?" is the moment The Joker for a moment becomes Jack Napier again.
*WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHIN AT*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
*HEHEHEHEHEHE*
Spherical Boss 1:34 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I remember that when i was 5 years old, I got scared of that laugh when Joker is dead
I’ll always remember watching this as a kid with my Dad in the cinema in 89’ …& him getting a good laugh out of…”You wouldn’t hit a guy with glasses on, would ya!?” 😅 🦇
