  • @cnsapam
    @cnsapam Před rokem +8

    Nicely explained.
    This also applies with all AT transmission too. Especially how to correctly put in P mode.
    To put in P position.
    - let the car settle in to complete stop after applying full Handbrake/ParkingBrake. While the gear lever is in N.
    - put the gear in P.
    To take out the gear lever out from P.
    - take the gear out from P to R/D while the Handbrake/ParkingBrake is still fully applied, and also have brake pedal fully pressed.
    - when desired released the hand brake and foot pedal.

    What I noticed is:
    In D-mode, it upshifts to 2nd gear as soon as car starts moving. This causes frequent shifts in bumper to bumper traffic. In M-mode also, though you can control the upshift, it automatically down shits to 1st gear too quickly when the car slows down.
    However, in S-mode, it upshifts to 2nd gear only after RPM crosses 3000 and down shifts to 1st gear only after car is completely stopped.
    So if we want to minimise the gear shifts, S-mode might be better in bumper to bumper traffic. But I am not sure, if reducing the shifts helps in long lasting of the transmission? S-mode definitely helps in quickly moving to gaps in slow, at the cost of economy.

    • @DirectShift
      @DirectShift  Před rokem +2

      Yes. I sometimes use S mode, if i don’t want to use M mode in bumper to bumper traffic. The behaviour of DQ200 is sometimes jerky and it’s mostly felt in bumper to bumper traffic or speed breakers. It shifts between D1-D2 and D2-D1

      Thank you …… but I am still confused because of the contrary advice being given from a # of folks on U-tube / google etc. Their strong view is that while the VIRUS or Skoda 1.5 has fully stopped on the traffic light for more than a min or two, we need to be on NEUTRAL with brakes on and NOT on D1/ M1 with full brakes on.
      And then there are others who say that its ok to be on M1/D1 with brakes on.
      As example from a U- tube channel where a Volkswagen guru says that we should absolutely( with all technical data) be on Neutral and brakes on while facing a traffic light and when we have to wait … link below.

    Could you please explain more on "dont upshift while braking and vice versa " Segment and how we can drive to avoid confusing DSG.

    • @DirectShift
      @DirectShift  Před 10 měsíci +1

      In manual cars, we usually accelerate before upshifting gears, and when we want to downshift, we typically apply the brake to slow down. In cars with DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox), the system automatically upshifts when we accelerate. However, if we manually downshift using the paddle shifters or the manual mode while accelerating, the DSG gearbox can become confused because it learns from our driving style and adapts accordingly.
