London Underground model railway build 8 - new platforms in time for Met 1!

- Hello everyone, back for some more layout progress down at Metroland…
I wanted to get a section of the station looking good for reasons that will shortly become clear!
We also tidy up the split level section hy continuing the embankments aswell as ballasting some areas.
Also, as many of you asked - we have stairs from the car park!! Ha.
Hope you enjoy, please leave any comments below and i will do my best to answer them.
Keep an eye out for a vid Thursday 16th March for something a bit special also.

great update eric the only surprise when you said you were cutting down the waiting rooms i was expecting you were going to have one round end matching the one on the opposite platform but that would have made the roof a little more trickier to do ..................tony

Excellent update, if the disabled access plays on you in the back of your mind..you could i suppose add a lift tower to the station building.. Just a thought, it would be a slightly different lighter brick shade to show its a more recent edition.
Maybe something can can be re-visted in the future.. Either way it looks cracking.

A great update, thank you for the tip on ballast, I spend ages trying to have no ballast on top of the sleepers. Great work on the station buildings. Cheers David
Cheers David, yeah doesnt need to be overly pretty mate! Especially if its newly laid track.
We also do engineering jobs sometimes where you are literally doing ballast drops, so just dumping a load over the track. Can be as messy or as neat as you like

For the ballast yard have a look at Ashville Aggregates on CZcams for a bit of inspiration. Osbornes make some nice 3DP 8 wheeled tipper trucks
Yeah i know who he is as GBRf serve his yard.
The inspiration is going to be willesden F sidings, which Cavalex’s 56 & 60 will live on 😁

Talk about a cut and shut. Personally, I would have chopped the roof off the buildings then made a new complete roof in 1 piece.
Each to their own mate! I was low on plasticard and it would need to be in 2 sections due to the length regardless ha
Where you have small gaps have you tried the Vallejo acrylic filler which comes in a tube with a pin point applicator built in a which cures quickly

Very enjoyable Eric. Its all coming together nicely. Coming back from Cardiff to Newport today I noticed that there is a section of track where the ballast is pink(ish) in colour. Dont know if you've ever noticed any on your travels. All the best.
Thanks Tim! Yeah probably from a different area, the colour/type varies around the country depending on what quarry its from 😁

Cheers, its mostly WWS stuff along with rubberised horse hair and random scatters
It does tickle me that you spend all of your videos saying this a botch job and showing all the screw ups, yet still it always turns out looking awesome. I can't help thinking that underneath all the bluff, you know exactly what you are doing. Please tell me the cool back scene with the road bridge is going back in :)

The stairs - are they not in the way of where the old track used to go? They look as though they were built long ago.
You wouldnt have stairs there with no carpark though, there would have been a yard in the way! Lol
