In one of his last interviews he spoke about his love for Aretha Franklin's music. Whenever he dipped his toes in Gospel music the results were amazing 'Somebody to Love' and 'Let me live' are also stunningly beautiful songs 🎤💖

Such an underrated gem!! It’s musically one of Queen’s best songs. Freddie’s powerful voice, mixed with John’s quiet yet driven bass, Roger’s precise drumming, and Brian’s electrifying guitar riffs makes this entire song heavenly!! The harmonies are so warmly dissonant-both mysterious and inviting. Innuendo is truly one of Queen’s best albums, and this song and many others proves why! Queen is so versatile, its nuts!

I love how you can hear the difference in his voice. You can clearly tell in which year the vocal lines were recorded. As you might know, this song came from his album with Monserat caballe, but they didn't finish it and then he brought it up for the innuendo album. So we got vocal lines at the beginning and near the end from 1987/1988 and in the middle you can clearly hear is voice become weaker and thinner, and that'll be his 1990/1991 voice.

@Ann What I sense from Freddie on his death bed is similar to what happen to Actor Steve Mc(Queen ). He was Hollywood's Party boy & bad boy. He was found in his hospital bed dead due to cancer, clutching a bible (he was not a believer) with a smile on his face. I immediately remember that it was Mary (I think) stated that Freddie had a smile on his face and Jim stated that Freddie was praying in whispers. Also when he died I did not mourn for him for I was at peace and felt peace came to him. Even now I prayed for him and asked the Lord where is he. Again this peace came over me that he is ok and is with him.

I just love that Queen put this song on their album - it probably came as a surprise to a lot of people. Freddie may have been flamboyant and theatrical, overly indulgent with cigarettes and alcohol but I think he was a very spiritual person. One doesn't cancel out the other. :) We know he grew up in the Zoroastrian faith but he never spouted religion and, in fact, if he was ever asked about it in interviews (which i haven't seen), he probably would have used quite a large number of expletives and told the interviewer it was none of their business. LOL. What i loved about him is that if he had a message to say through music, he did it no matter what people thought.

@@hannyhawkins7804 Mustapha is another one (from their Jazz album). They didn't necessarily have to write songs with the name God or Jesus in them to be considered "religious" songs - it's in the message they delivered. But they also wrote songs about very secular, clearly non-religious things. My point is they were not trying to preach or shove religion at people. They just wanted to deliver their music to people and it morphed over the years - sometimes with a clear message and sometimes just a good, rock & roll song. :)

Marie Grimes My point was that ‘God’ doesn’t equal ‘Christian’. Perhaps you didn’t intend that implication in your tweet, but you wrote ‘Christian-inspired’, not ‘religiously-inspired’. Mustafa is certainly not ‘Christian-inspired’. I’m not here for an argument, though, friend.
I believe John, or at least his wife, is a devout Catholic, Freddie grew up and was buried as a Zoroastrian and Roger has always been anti-religion of all types because, he says “it f**ks people up’.

The only song off Innuendo that was likely recorded in 1989, not only for “The Miracle” feeling but especially for Freddie’s voice: still thick and with the same range he got from that late 1980s era. The rest of Innuendo was recorded in 1990, with Freddie’s voice sounding thinner. This is a magnificent song!

The majority of the vocal was recorded around 1987-88 for a solo project. around the 2:45 mark, that is when the 1989-90 vocal kicks in. Notice the change, more of a head voice than a full chest voice. not that I am an expert

this is absolutely on par with songs/pieces of the classical masters like Mozart or Schubert. some serious arts here. that's genius that can't entirely be learned, way above normal. I studied music on university and had composition classes. not telling to show off, but to emphasize my comment.

When they needed a track for innuendo, they offered this as Brian was already on it with guitar

@Lightbringer One doesn't believe IN Christianity - you either follow it or you don't. Freddie was Zoroastrian which is a faith that believes in one God/Allah, just as Christians do. From his music it also seemed as though he believed in Jesus' existence (based on the song).

@@Alcor98 Deacon is in our heart forever just as the others. We love him. He said, when Freddie died: Without Freddie there is no Queen. He missed him terribly and he was terribly hurt by his death. He doesn't mind to be mentioned, but I just can't imagine he wouldn't listen to their songs. He must be over on the hardest period.
