Hey Nick that little black box u said u didn't know what it was is the blinker relay. I think there is two relays under that black cover. One is for sure ur blinker relay and if there is another relay under that cover I have no idea what's it's for. Just so u know bro.
Wished we were neighbors. I don’t have any OCD friends like me. Lol. Great job guy
👍👍👍👍👍 Years later and this still a great video and an amazing series build to look back on for truck, tips and invaluable information. Thanks again Nick. 👍👍👍👍👍
Dang! That swap helper kit is a lifesaver! You're making me want to do this more and more!
Is it still cold up there in Oregon? I was binge watching some of your videos the other day 🤠🤘🏻
You have more wiring skills than me bro, I’d def pay big bucks (views) to wTch your journey lol. Once I finish let me know if need any advice or pointers etc
@@FixItNick if I ever decide to do it I’ll definitely be asking you lots of questions. Probably won’t happen while this thing is still my daily driver. Possibly one day though.
@@JohnMatrixOfficial thankfully we are back into the 40s and 50s now. Still plenty of rain haha
Hi FIN, love your work! Please post a Part 4 or final dash outcome, AC Controls, fitment, what features work or don’t, column update or same and complete over view please. Would help answer lots of questions and completely entertaining, LOL! Thank you, really appreciate your videos.
Good job Nick. It is good when you are joining so many wires to do it at different lengths so in that way you don’t have all the connections at the same position in the wire harness and makes it a lot slimmer and tidy.
Yup I agree, sounds so easy right??
Simply Awesome Nick! It's gonna look so cool with the new dash and interior. If you have to do splices outside of the truck, or in a high vibration area, make sure and use Environmental Crimp Splices. Because they are crimped and have the added seal they are highly vibration and waterproof. Looking fwd to seeing up and running, and that big grin on your face for a job well done. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Thanks bro, well I soldered so we good
I do not understand that you can find out this Nick -
It's well above my level. You are a patient man.
Well done 👍💪👌
Bro it’s above my level too haha, just gotta step up to move up
Coming along nice nick. Looks good, maybe you and zack will want to tag-team mine for me once swap helper releases the module for the 05 trucks. You'd just have to bring any specialty tools you want down here to florida on "vacation", I have the hand/air/electric tools covered. Lol
Btw, that black box you had at 16:45 ish is your turn signal flasher relay box.
Haha I’m sure Zach will be excited.... oh ya now I remember when I had to reach swap relay under the dash a year ago
Yeah this what im waiting for
Me too haha
Nick, I do not speak for any other sub.than me personally, but I enjoy your videos, and length of the video does not concern me. You are very conscientious in providing solid content and the 30 minute video seemed much shorter. Thank you for inviting me to observe your projects. I enjoy them.
Thank you really appreciate it, I guess I look from my side when I watch a vid longer than 15-20 min seems to much, I almost wanted to break this up into 2 vids
Awesome video! Love this project!👍🏻
Man you have done an amazing job. I agree the chrome look makes that thing look factory. Best channel on 7.3. I'm a few yrs away from doing this to my 7.3
Looks like that Swap Helper controller that you put on top of the cluster is 3D printed. Hopefully they made it out of ABS or something more resistant to heat. If they printed it with PLA it will melt if it nears 100 degrees.
It is printed out of a material that is good to around 100° c, or 212 Fahrenheit. We have products that we run under hood that are printed in materials that are good to over 230° F.
Great work
cool thanks big guy!
The reason the Ford wiring diagram was backwards is because you were looking "down" the wire at the end of the plug. If you look from the back of the plug, as you would hold it assembling/inserting wires, it should be correct. From the end creates an upside down and backwards situation.
I have truly enjoyed these videos, thank you for taking the time to make them.
That is some SERIOUS conversion...
Few little mods haha
You've done a killer job but the fact that swap helper charges 750 for that cluster helper and they sent you a backwards wiring diagram that's rediculous, if they're gonna charge that much then they should just make it plug and play, good catch on your part though bud.
Good call on doing the silver. I was just thinking, "man he's not going to be able to see what he is doing".
Yea makes things easier to see for sure
that black box is your flasher relay
At this rate you will soon swap a digital gauge cluster from a 2021 model!
Can’t wait lol
Well, you got to say one thing. The design and construction of that dash frame is "complicated". I dont think it would even be possible without 3D modeling and dimensioning. Can you imagine having to build the jig just for that one part. Wow !!
Keep doing vids❤
The Diagramm is ok , you look at the back of the Cluster Not the Front of the connector , but nice work 👍
Well I read all 3 plugs the same and middle one is backwards numbered on the diagram,
It’s backwards tho, am I smoking?
I like watching your videos any new on the 7.3
Boa tarde estou acompanhando aqui do Brasil ótimo trabalho
Really good vlog very interesting
Thanks
The amount of work that dash takes on its own is giving me a headache 🤯 I would be scared taking all that wiring apart , crazy bro....u just went in there and did it.....I'm gonna refer to you for advice when I do mine lol but I think mine gonna be alot tougher to do since I want the 16 dash
Oh trust me I think I lost my marbles already haha, I told wife quick swap (restoring truck now haha)
This thing really needs some nice headlights and taillights when it’s finished
Yes I agree for sure, for now we stock then upgrade lol
I'll take third comment, lol. Way to go Nick!! 👍😉💪👌
We are all first
@@FixItNick lol
Do you need the cluster helper to makenthe cluster work? Im about to do this to my 2002 7.3 i have a complete 2008 dash
Great video series. I've How read all the comments looking for how long (approximately hours) did it take ?
Would you do for a customer?
I might be jumping ahead but how do you/can you program your odometer?
Your heat gun sounds like a pod racer. 😁
Haha
love that truck i had an identical 01 but it was an auto bought it early 04 with only 30k other then blown off the high pressure oil line driving thru slums of stockton truck never gave me problems unfortunately i decided to briefly try my hand in auto transporting after only a year my pristine 01 was so fucked off and wore out otherwise i probably would have still owned it today that thing would pull 3 full size trucks or vans from sacramento to seattle thru the mtns no problem so if anyone reading this who owns one of these and cant figure out why it has the wrong rearend and brakes sorry bout that
GREAT VIDEOS,
Are you able to use the newer steering box and shaft on your old chassis?
Yes I’ll be using 2010 steering column and steering wheel
Ok, so you'll be using the steering column and wheel but not the steering gearbox?
Hi Nick, I am in the middle of doing a 2008 Dash Swap into my 99 F350 6spd. Did your shifter clear the lower center dash panel?
The old shifter will not clean no, I had to buy 2008 manual shifter. I’ll have a video coming this Friday you will see where the hole is, I’ll be Installing shifter a week later
👍
for your plug that was backwards - if that was me, I'd be SOL as I'm color blind. I've done a lot of wiring but I rely on the pins and numbers and my wife and kid to help me with some colors, but if the print out is wrong I'd be screwed!
Haha oh man that would suck for sure
How much would u charge me to swap mines.
Hey brother could you do a total cost video to give us idea on how much it would cost to do a project like this ? Thanks for your time 🙏
Yup read description I broke it down
Why did you cut the metal frame in spots? Does it have to be done?
Yes, for wiring to go through and for 2001 fuse box relocation.
@@FixItNick I have a 1999 truck and a 2012 dash, do l need to cut the frame in the spots u cut for everything to fit or will mine work without cutting?
When’s the cummins swap coming?
Soon!! When I pick up a 6.7 Cummins lol
How come you had to cut the dash frame
In order to fit fuse box in that spot better and for the wire for cluster to fit, you can see in the new vids
I think your truck will sell for $2,000 at auction.
This should be part 4 not part 3 lasted video was part 3
Part 3 dash swap, part 4 is for nose swap, I know a bit confusing lol
@@FixItNick yeah but the as well as this video the last one says part 3 this one says part 3 if you have a look
@@pauljamesshellabear50 last part 3 is nose swap, is that the one you mean? Link me video of which one
🤦♂️
Удачи
Thanks
Wife swapping ?
Is that the 01 frame or the newer one
