There's so much to see right outside Amsterdam, our first stop was Zaanse Schans. it's one of western europes first and biggest industrial parks, there used to be more than 600 windmills in the zaan region so we had to check it out:)

The song of the birds make me homesick for being in Holland in the springtime! I was lucky to visit Zaanse Schans. I loved it!
Amazing experience thanks for upload really enjoyed this video ❤️😘
Great vlog! I loved this place as well
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!Thanx for doing what you do.Happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us!!!! I learned a lot!!!!
Beautiful place...
went there on 4th May 2018, what a gorgeous place
Great video! I'm originally from the Netherlands, but haven't lived there for 21 years now, so it was nice to take a trip home by tagging along to your adventures! Love all your travels vids, can't wait to see more! 😊
Happy to hear that my videos can be used like that, thanks for sharing:) 2 more videos left from the netherlands, so hope you like them too:)
That museum looked great. We went toa place in the Black Forest, Germany that had collected farmhomes from different areas/time periods and it was fascinating. Living in Australia there isn't that much history to explore, which is what I LOVE about Europe.
That's exactly what I love too, the history.. and the food for the most part is fantastic:) I havn't been to southern Germany yet, but some day I'll get there:)
Beautiful day
That's great, video,
holland is really classic beautiful
very good videos, keep going
love your video's, great to see that you like my beautiful country. One thing, there is a typo in your title, it is Zaanse Schans with a s at the end.
woops, thanks:).. Dutch words are so difficult by the way:)
I enjoyed that...Where I come from in England has Windmills
Thats good Windmill molen.
Keep going, Maria. Love your videos. ^ ^
Thank you so much:)
Charming BnB.
Zaanse Schans is fascinating.
Interesting array of clogs.
Sooo many clogs ha ha:)
Seriously!
Enjoyed your journal. Should be heading to Holland in September. Is there a bus which leaves from the rail station to Zaase schans?
Uh hope you have a great trip:) We drove by car, but I can't imagine a scenario where there are no busses or trains, there must be, so just check online or ask in the train station in Amsterdam when you arrive so you know the schedule:)
Beautiful video! Not only the scenery, but the quality of the video seems to be crystal clear, like I'm standing beside you as you film. I loved the apartment, I could live in that space and be very happy! In America we often receive gifts of small wooden shoes which are made for the tourist trade when friends travel in the Netherlands. But it appears that the shoes being made in your video would actually fit our feet. Are there still people who wear wooden shoes in the present day? Also, I think the shoes made for walking in ice was mind blowing. Your videos are always awesome. Thank you.
Thank you, I'm glad you like the quality, I try to keep it as high as I can without having to drag around huge amounts of equipment:) Wooden shoes are still being used, but in denmark they are different. They have developed into just a 3 cm (1,5 inch) shoe sole and then the top part is leather.. they are used mainly by farmers and people in the country because they are super easy to just slide in if you have to run outside really quick and they are high enough that your feet don't get wet or muddy.. it rains a lot;) I don't know if it's the same in The Netherland or if they actually use those painted colorful once:)
Cool apartment
Good
Boorsma counted 1000 windmills in this region, Couwenhoven did research and counted 1100 windmills, both of them published these facts in a heavey book. Plans to rebuild autentic mills are in progress, takes some time and money, but will be realized.
Could you please share the address / website of this fantastic apartment you stayed in Amsterdam. Was it an AirBnB?
we booked through airbnb, I'm pretty sure it was on Govert Flinckstraat, near Sarphatipark:)
This was such a cool place. Was the wood that he made the shoes out of soaked in water before he carved them? It is difficult for me to believe that there was that much water/sap that came out of them after he carved them. Beautiful area. Thank you for sharing.
No I don't think so, it looked really dry to me!!:)
One Girl One Suitcase (Maria Storgaard) Wow!
Van Go? Goodah?
Did you use Couchsurfing?
+Lai Yu Zeng no just airbnb
Maria, how are you feeling? When's that little baby due and how soon after his/her birth will you resume traveling?
He is due in 5 weeks and I'm doing great, the first 4-5 months were absolutely the worst:) We are planning to do our first trip with him in September and then we have a trip to Florida planned for november.. anyways that's the plan but first we just want to get him here heathy and happy:)
Good Morning, Maria, and thanks for your speedy reply. Good luck during these last few weeks. Sleep when you can!! Love from the Midwest USA. :-)
zaanse schans is not in amsterdam, its in Zaanstad.

Beautiful windmills protected and owned by Society De Zaansche Molen. www.zaanschemolen.nl
Em-Ster-Dem? Was-Hing-Ton?
It's funny to say you are eating a waffle from Liege, Belgium and not a Dutch waffle.
How do you tell them apart.. one is more square right?
At 5.04 you can see my house.
