I have an ISTP spouse - engineer- he cannot STAND the politics of the job in the corporate world. He JUST wants to do his job - what he is good at. He's extremely competent, his clients all want him on their jobs, he brings in lots of $ for the firm he works for as a result, but he'll never climb the corporate ladder because he literally cannot (or chooses not) to play the "games" in business. He is almost contemptuous of those that do even though I'll point out to him that it's sometimes easier to "go along" with the BS in order to accomplish his own goals.
Yup, we don't have the mental attitude to be fake a$$ kissers, we just want to go to work, try to be the best at whatever we do, get paid and go home. Good luck with your ISTP oh and we are not trying to be rude we are just.. well.. I don't remember the exact quote but no one is hated more in this world than someone who tells the truth. IxxP here, and fuck yeah, fuck politics. why do i need to do these little favors to get ahead? why do i need to play this fake buddy-buddy thing to get what I want? its stupid. i wish i could and i know itll move me upward but i refuse.
at some point inevitably you start picking up the game as a game you can and wanna win, you master it, and you find yourself on top. sometimes you need to get your hands dirty in these things ig
anyways, competence and deliberate effort will always win in the end. faking it will eventually get you in trouble, or exposed

He must really enjoy his job then. I can’t imagine being that invested into one thing. I don’t think I’m a 3 and I would RATHER do politics and games along with my own job just to keep myself from being bored to death. Glad 3’s exist so I don’t have to be one lol

INFP type 3 (I think) here, 35 years old. My life has been the arts (visual, written, etc.), being depressed, and only talking to people as emotional support or to call out someone’s bullsh*t when they harass someone else, and I’m not changing for anyone, not even for myself!!!

@@fizzy3766I appreciate it mate, and it almost has a few times, problem is what I need to change to make things better clashes with the fallout of a moral obligation I promised, such obligations are coincidentally the only reason I force myself to stay around, the mirror is the enemy.

I don’t think I’m a 3 because I will do politics but that feels a lot like play energy. I remembering doing a bunch of support activities in high school. I was in a film club and of course I’d prefer making the funny videos that I wanted to but I would come out and do some videos for student council or for a friends class project. And I also couldn’t stand just getting good at film. I had to take martial arts, band, and AP classes. Not saying oh look at me I’ve done so much. I was just responsible to get a C- in all these areas, not really being the best at one thing. So don’t think I’m a 3, leaning towards a 2. And maybe 1 or 4
