The real bad luck is how good her affinity chart actually is. Give that chart to a Katana and she'd be B tier at least.

I did that my first playthrough. Her core crystal was called "lucky core crystal" so I gave it to Zeke cause I thought he could use extra luck. It was unintentionally hilarious.
Kassandra has undoubtedly the best level 3 special, because you get to hear a cute anime girl cursing at will.

She may give off such an enormous amount of bad luck, that she even gives Zeke a run for his money. But goddamn, she is the cutest thing to exist

Kasandra is a really tragic character when you think about it, she wants to help everyone, but she is completely unaware that she causes problems for people around her. You are also completely aware of what happened to her previous driver and that she may have accidentally been the cause.
She definitely was the cause of her nopon driver kicking the bucket, poor little guy. It's kind of sad but also really cute she retains Nopon Wisdom as a kind of memento of her old driver.
Actually, Kasandra is fully aware that she brings bad luck, just that she desperately tries to brush it off. You can see this clearly in her heart to heart where her driver asks something along the lines of "Don't you ever think that mask of yours is cursed?" In which she replies "Huh, You don't think this mask is cute? This mask is the symbol of luck, it couldn't possibly be cursed" She even acts unaware of how insane she goes when she puts it on during combat.
Sidenote: I love using her level 3 to hear the line "Karma's a bitch!"
The best pre DLC shield hammer... for what little that's worth. In my experience, Kasandra is the only Shield Hammer that is somewhat decent at keeping aggro without switching from another blade. My primary use for her is putting her on Morag so that she can keep aggro, gain access to more blade combos, and give her a topple art. I'm personally a big fan of her, but I understand why objectively she doesn't stack up that well when compared to the other tanks.
Kassandra has to be among my favorite blades simply BECAUSE her character is so good. NOT ONLY DID THEY CURSE SUCH A CUTE CHARACTER WITH BADLUCK, THEY ALSO CURSED HER TO BE SHIT

Its so sad that shield hammers are without any positive attribute. it would be at least interesting if you maybe are immune to knock back or something like that just to make them at least interesting. their are shields after all. if xenoblade would of been an mmo you would probably be more drawn to have a shield hammer in your party but when you can put all enemies into an eternal state of being in a driver combo, all that matters is damage.
at least kasandra is my third favorite character after qtpi and zeke. she just wants to help its not her fault that she is the incarnation of bad luck.

I put her on Zeke on my first playthrough. Putting the unluckiest blade on the unluckiest driver seemed like the perfect match to me
One of my favorite blades. I used her on Zeke for basically the entire game.
Kasandra's Special II is also nice for Lv1 builds. Since it hits only once, it will never miss when it triggers Dark blade combos (1 and 2).
I can think of one good use for her Lv. 1; because it takes so long you can run around a lot while it's active, so it comes in handy if you have a lot of items/potions to pick up or want to reposition quickly. Still not a very good special but can be situationally useful for that auxiliary purpose.

I feel SO bad for shield hammers. I’m kinda new to the game (I only finished the game a few weeks ago, I started when Chuggaaconroy started his let’s play of it) and even I can see the problem with them. And it sucks because the Shield Hammers have some of the best characters! Thanks for showing me that even they can be useful in combat though, even if you gotta give them some support.
Its an odd thing when even a new player knows something's up. When I did my first playthrough, I struggled because I was relying on Roc and Electra. Even little ol' newbie me realized they just were not keeping me alive.

I originally thought a Shield Hammer getting a skill dependent on their crit stat was wholly a product of Kasandra's terrible luck (after all, it is called "Fortune") and was bad compared to pretty much any other skill that could have been in its place, so it's nice to see its very real potential in action!

I just love how different the various Rare Blades are, and how the game offers so many customization options that pretty much all of them can perform well if you put in the necessary effort. Carlos just got OWNED by the "Lucky" Gal!

Story Time: My game crashed first time I did Kassandra's personal quest. Twas fitting but I hadn't saved in a while...
At least, that was a very thematic crash. the worst crash I had was maybe an hour or two lost on sidequests. After that, I made sure to save the game after every fast travel I did and that helped a lot. I think the game crashed maybe half a dozen times in like 200 hours on my first playthrough.

Been having more frequent crashes/menu freezes since the latest update (Korean language support) and was wondering if it was just me, or if the update is causing more issues. Now it feels like I save every 45 seconds lol.

I think I would do this to change Shield Hammers, first the only art I would change is the actual Shield art, making it more in the likes of Monado Armor (but not remotly as busted) in that the blades own defense rate gets added to the party or absorbing all aggro from party memebers alla Dunban while also doubling the users block rate but no turtling or my favorite possibility, using the ability creates a literal shield in a spot (Max 1) that reduces all incomming damage and with a spike effect of at max level 150% of the users damage (this could also help a lot in cone attacks like Twin Barrel if the AI decides in front of its firing is the best spot to stand)
mechanically, that blocking attacks actually increases aggro by a lot, which makes sense in the enemy getting frustated that its attacks didnt pass trough
for skills itll need to be a base by case, but if anything I think reducing their cooldowns a bit and making their attacks at most 15% faster (I currently think 10% should suffice) would help them a lot
now this is also just me, but in general I think making an item that can increase a Blades own Aux Core Crystals slots to a max of 3 should also be duable, just like the Drivers accesory slots
now this is an extra of changes I would give Blades in general, making so that theirs skills have this propieties (with some notable exceptions to the rule but the minimun for all the blades as follows), 1 skill will be party wide as long as the Blade is on the field, 1 skill is allways active on the Driver even if the Blade is not on the field, the last skill is only active as the Blade is on the field BUT, doing a special allows the driver to change to another blade while keeping the skill for X amount of time, where Lv1 is 20 seconds, Lv2 40 seconds, Lv3 1 Minute and Lv 4 2 Minutes
also give the Lv4 specials at minimun their Lv3 Special effects
If Blades come back in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Hammers need a massive buff. Also Eletrica and Flinch next?

Okay, she may not be very good to use, but she definitely has one of the best level 3 Blade Combo quotes in the game of "Karma's a bitch!" Plus she has that same kinda fun energy that Crossette has and has that cool mummy design, so she's gotta be at LEAST high tier.
I haven't got into challenge mode or anything yet but Kasandra is my favourite blade, I'm trying to understand how to make the most of her, but from the little knowledge I have of challenge mode, idk how to get Fiora.

@@dekuramzie04 It's an item that when used in a pouch item slot will immediately grant a huge amount of trust between the blades and the driver. iirc, using just 3-4 of those is enough to reach at least A rank trust with just about every blade in the game, immediately opening all of their affinity chart (barring the ones that have other requirements to progress them). They can be crafted by completing the DLC quest "Making Love Source," the completion of which will permanently unlock the recipe to be crafted at a specific location. Hope this helped!
I don't know what they were thinking with shield hammers, and the tank/healer/damage dealer paradigm in general with this game. Both XB1 and XBX were more functional. Could launch into a TED Talk on issues and ways to improve them without making drastic changes to gameplay, but most people don't read comments over 4 lines long, so it's not worth the time.

I don't know all the specifics but yes I think each element has one debuff immunity.

Not really sure what they were thinking, excluding the most useful tanking skill from the actual tank driver.
Tora isn't really slow though, that's why he actually works. He has maybe 2 sluggish arts on QT (booming buster and his smash art), but Alpha's drill shield feels like the creators took a look at shield hammers and said "Wow, that sucks, let's not do that".

Is XB2 worth it? I playrd XB1 this year and loved it. This game looks a bit more rooted in place combat wise.
This game is amazing, I like it significantly more than the first.
XB1 is a very "safe" and balanced game that I can recommend to most gamers.
XB2 is the polarizing wacky experiment that I enjoy, despite having a mountain of issues and nitpicks with. I like it more than XB1, but I can see why some people might hate it. Your mileage may vary.
I wish Shield Hammers were much better, because I love her design and character. If I were to improve her, I would boost Stability to 75%. Fortune would instead also have a flat 20% crit chance boost. Calamity would have all attack aggro would be 60% instead.
To improve the Shield Hammer class, faster attack animations (30% seems decent), quicker arts charges (by about 2-4), and higher auto-attack damage (by about 150 from the listed value in the video).
