- Vitus is a brand that can hover a little under the radar for a lot of mountain bikers, but with an ever more impressive lineup and the success of their sister brand Nukeproof, they're hard to overlook these days. All the more so when they continue to release bikes with impressive designs and equally impressive price tags, such as the Mythique we have here on test.

It's definitely pronounced Vitus
Yup, like Titus
Nooooo it's pronounced vitus!!
Po-tah-toe
no its vitus
veetus
I’ve got the 2023 vr and it’s still blown me away for under a grand and the ability to just upgrade components over time. It’s amazing
I love my 2023 Mythique! Mine came with the Z2 Bomber
I absolutely love this bike it’s perfectly specked from a parts to price perspective
Agree, but I badly needs a Mythique 27 AMP 😭😄
Hey editors, you do such a fantastic job, but in the bike geo thing at 15s can you please use more visible text than red on a red brick background? I don't know if it's just because I'm colorblind but it's nearly impossible to see some of that text.
It is not just you. Very hard to see.
really good stuff guys, been a big fan of @pinkbike for years now. I appreciate these budget friendly reviews.. looking forward to a mid-travel value oriented trail bike in the near future. also maybe look into some comment moderation... just sayin, cheers 🍻
That last 10 seconds has made my day!!! ;-)
Had my Mythique VRX now for about 3 months and love it. It does everything very well for me and quality is great. Also Vitus customer service is excellent. They answered all kinds of questions I had before buying the bike.
They're still answering all my questions after buying too! 😬. I LOVE MY VRX!!
good frame set & you can't really go wrong or be disappointed with any of the Vitus machines for the price, i think the ex pro elite road racer Scean Kelly owns or has a significant part to play with the Vitus brand
My brother bought the Vitus sentier 29 and it's a really good bike and well specd or the money!
The Select Pikes from new really, really need a service, new good seals and at least a couple of tokens if you’re heavier or riding hard. Do those and it’ll actually start to feel good.
This is the mountain bike I'd buy. Too bad they're no longer selling to the US.
I have a 2020 vitus escarpe. Pretty new, love the handling, very nimble but also great on the steeps. But I go through so much travel at the back and have harsh bottom outs. Need some volume spacers asap
Any idea what size the axle spindles are (24mm or 30 mm diameter)?
I'm looking to run shorter cranks to reduce pedal strikes on my local trails but wasn't sure which to order up.
my ex got this bike and the first thing she did was taking off the 100mm dropper and stole my 150 other then that its the perfect dew it all bike we went on xc rides to full on dh laps and she and the bike handled it really well
#pinkbkie So close to buying this until the rotor/pad issue pointed out. I'm in England We NEED wet brakes LOL. I don't want/can't afford to be buying new stuff for a new bike. Very short sighted of Vitus, I suspect many sales lost in Europe just because of this. GREAT review series guys.
Great looking bike and good geo.
I guess with 150mm fork it would be awesome.
I have been riding this exact frame with a 150mm Pike with the RCT3 damper, so far it is faster downhill than my Stumpjumper Evo S-works. Most of that is due to the sizing difference, the Large Mythique is perfectly sized for me - basically in between a S4 and S5 Stumpjumper EVO. It is 2lbs heavier than my Evo, if I could get a S4.5 built up at 30lbs I think I'd prefer that slightly over the Mythique, but I do like having a bike that nobody else has.
For those of us who ride in the desert, we actually prefer Shimano resin pads (on a good rotor, not the soft one on this bike). A very good value bike and one that most riders actually need.
New bikes come with shorter stroke droppers to fit a wider range of people. If you are in the short end for your size, a longer dropper might be too high even if it’s slammed to the bottom in the frame
Yes, it depends on the inseam the bike is MADE to fit. The thing is... if you have super short legs with a longer dropper, if you hold one leg straight and hit the button, it will come up as far as it can so a longer dropper doesn't hurt? This is also a rare case because they're using shorter droppers than the bike is designed for.
This is a problem I've had with several bikes now. Luckily some bikes are coming with travel adjustable droppers to accommodate a larger range of rider.
This happened with my sister and her small Polygon Siskiu T8. It came with a 150mm dropper and we had to replace it with a 125.
I have a 2022 vrx and ive just finnished upgrading it
to date . . . .
SLX shifter
Lyrik fork
Hope wheels with pro 5 hubs
Shimano mt701 4 piston brakes coupled with Ice tech rotors 203 up front & 180 on the rear
Hans Dampf & Magic Mary rubber thats never gonna change
DMR vault pedals
Nukeproof headset and Bottom bracket
Bike rides like a dream but . . . . . and this is a big one im gonna upgrade to a Banshee frame this year, as CRC & Wggle have gone bust my warranty aint worth the paper its written on if i break the frame i will be left with no bike . . so im gonna swap out all these upgrades onto the Banshee and then build a second bike with the Mythique frame.
How would you rank this against the Orbea Occam?
gorgeous singing skills :D . btw where is levy?
I think companies spec a shorter dropper to fit more people’s inseams.
Cool to see Kip from Napoleon Dynamite get a gig @ PB
lol ... way better than selling knock off tupperware
@@BlueGoose29 Crypto dude. LaFondo and Uncle Rico are all in.
Henry is unreal.
I’d argue he’s absolutely real.
Close your eyes when matey boy on the right is talking and try not to think of Chris Griffin.
I am kinda impatient waiting for the status review but man they are really doing it last. At this point I will be done building my frame by the time they come out with the review (FS frame with shock down to $850 right now). Too bad they won't test the comparable to trail status 140 in high (flip chip). That's the real bike for the masses but I digress.
We reviewed the Status 140 last year: www.pinkbike.com/news/review-2022-specialized-status-140-the-slope-duro-cross-weapon.html.
@@pinkbike wow thanks for the reply, all complaining aside I appreciate this type of content. And thanks for the link, I am familiar with this one already. I guess I really need to cut back on the whining!
You’re going to like that Status, good purchase
I bought a Status but this one was way high on my list. Availability was terrible tho...
I bought a new 2023 Rocky Instinct A30 for $3750 CAD. Made in Taiwan frame.
Henry! Pay him more!
I’m thinking my green Fluid FS1 is more preferable than this bike. But I can see how a budget buyer may swoop this bike up.
And 1400$ more. I was comparing this to the FS2, and I bought the Vitus.
@@derDKPsame here!
What is a "climb swith"? A lock out?
Not necessarily a lock out but a switch that alters the rear suspension usually to stiffen it to improve the pedalling platform yet still allow suspension to track terrain on climbs.
Nice poem
Definitely changed his face colour ;)
The music... my grandma called and wants her cassette tape back
It's 140 mm travel guys.
Looks like a Riftzone 2
It's very weird that in some videos in this roundup they talk about how the bikes compare to each other but not in others
Richard Ayoade sounding guy
0.5 donut!!!
If the amp had 4pot brakes and a pike select plus.... money
XT anything at this price is shocking. Have to pay near 6k before pivot puts xt on their bikes
Wow the Vitus did not do very well this year. Usually is the surprise of the bunch, not this year.
Seems like it did very well, only complaints were a few components. Choose a different build or upgrade the parts mentioned. This is the best trail bike in the test, the YT is a better park bike.
It is Thursday
#whereislevy
I’m one of those people with a short inseam and a long torso. Anything over 175mm is too long.
vitus was french brand so it prononces "meetic"
Ref a 150mm seat post not a 170mm - fitting massive drop seat posts is limiting. I'm 5ft 10 (178cm). . I am according to most size charts, a 'large'. However I need a mximume 420mmish seat tube to be able to run a 150mm dropper! And yes, thats with low stack, short cranks etc, I know all the tricks. I just have a long body and short legs. On some bikes I could only use 125mm ish. If these comapnies put 170mm droppers on their size large, that would rule me out (or add on the cost of a new dropper to the purchase price). People are different shapes - fitting enormous length dropper posts reduces the number of people who will fit.
Fitting long droppers REDUCES the number of people who the bike will suit, not vice versa.
You don't need a new fork, you can just get a damper upgrade.
and the damper upgrade costs $250 and $350 installed? I think they should mention that the Pike Select is better than any Fox 34 or Marzocchi Z2.
Yeah nah that lever is the actual worst. Its length wise cut outs are perfectly designed to cut into your thumb when riding gloveless.
Is it me or there's really no Status test (out yet)? This is not the first test where they reference it.
It’ll be the last video I’m sure.
it's out of stock everywhere ffs.
I've always felt like the Select range of forks are total shite. Except maybe on the SID and ZEB. Easy upgrade to the nice damper though.
Rimes with ‘lightest’
Trail? I use mine for everything
Just wait how long chainstays are going to get in 2025.
Who actually believes a single word any of these shill channels say these days 🤷♂️
yep, what's a shill channel?
Jesus is Lord so using his Name in Vain 😢 pray you all would come to praise him one day. Thanks for the review seems like a great trail bike for the $.
