Vee-tus or Vye-tus?
Defo vyetus.
veeeeeeee-tus
It originally is a French brand so i'd go for VeeTus
Vi-tus
Vit-us - speak English boy :P
"It rewards smart line choices."
That is THE MOST salesman thing I've ever heard.
ALL bikes should “reward” smart line choices. It is a “sales-ey” kind of statement; fo sho!
@@keirfarnum6811 If that were true, there would be no such thing as a bike being "forgiving". The trade-off being that the features that compensate for less skill, won't be the best performer for skilled riders in some places.
I would agree it's an uber-optimistic expression of that dynamic.
Need more of this value stuff. The average person isn’t able to get into a niche build at $5k to start. It’s hard enough calling 3k value. Good work guys. I would LOVE to see some type of blind taste test challenge to see if reviewers could actually tell the difference between value and boutique brands. No idea how that would work though.
James Gum that’s a great idea. See if they can pick out each bike, blindfolded. Lol! This was another great video guys
100% agree!
@@wesleymohawk yeah maybe if they rode them.down a hill blindfolded and figure out which one was cheap and which one was expensive . Great idea guys 👍👍
@@goahead3995 youre absolutey stupid for paying mrsp on a Specialized
I wonder if you could tape all the frameand componentry up so you couldn't see what it was. Maybe padding bits to disguise the shape a bit. Would be quite interesting!
Got my wife a Vitus Escarpe. Excellent value bike. After researching entry level hardtails for my buddy I recommended to him the Vitus Nucleus with the Deore drivetrain for $750. Pretty impressed with Vitus right now- these guys hit the nail on the head- good geo, good quality, ridable components out of the box. Nice to see some good mountain bikes available at more affordable ranges.
DADventureTV I like the look too. Def not boring
I recently got their hardtail 24" for my 9-year old, and have been very impressed with it (actually wish I could ride it, as his bike is now better than my old 2006 kona!), and he loves it too. Maybe not as light as you would desire for a kids bike, but really it was only about 2 pounds over his cheapo 16" single-speed he was riding.
Jess Hines That’s great to know. I was looking at the same bike for my 10 year old. Start em young and they’ll be MTB’ers for life.
naveed islam I actually bought it used. But I think the prices on ChainReaction Cycles include any import duties.
I'm really surprised by the tire choice! Vitus did a great job specing the bike where it matters most.
This bike made me love vitus as a company in general
You guys do the best reviews on CZcams. Great info, entertaining, short, honest, and thorough.
Nice job guys, the value bike reviews are appreciated.
Finally a bike I've got!!!! Got the VRS 29er, was gonna go for the VRX but that green color is literally my favorite color and the bike just looks insane. Really happy with Vitus, I was able to get the bike for $1500. No other brand has a deal like that for what you get. Been riding a hardtail the last 2.5 years and the upgrade from this bike is crazy. The bike is efficient and poppy but I no longer have to think when I'm around rocks haha. And the level I can lean over in berms felt crazy on even the very first ride. Definitely recommend this bike for anyone who wants to move up to FS but is a student and can only drop so much on a bike. 10/10 experience!
Do you think the VRX is worth the extra bucks? It does have a different suspension, rear and front. But I agree, the green color of the VRS looks much better than the color of the VRX.
@@mrkjartanhelgason now that the prices have shifted again, the vrx makes more sense. When I bought the VRS was on sale for 1458 vs 1999 for the vrx. Now that it's only a 200 difference, that's pretty good for the upgraded suspension. Even still, that green is just so good in my eyes, I'm probably too concerned with looks but I want to love the look of my bike haha. Not to say the white doesn't also look amazing. Either option will be amazing man.
Brilliant review, I think you guys successfully highlighted everything that was done right with this bike. Very nice.
Great to see the reviews of mountainbikes that your average consumer can afford, without buying a garbage store brand bike. 👍
Really appreciating the value bike reviews. And Sedona looks AMAZING!!!
Awesome review. Love to see an example of massive trickle down from high end bikes benefiting the rider with less to spend. New bikes are so good. The Marzocchi resurrection seems apropos of the times. We will rise again. We will ride again.
I got this bike as my first full Suspension mtb. And so far its performance is shockingly amazing. Its definitely something to learn on. Especially as I'm a first timer.
Thanks guys for having detailed reviews on bikes that I can actually afford. keep it up
Keep up the good work!! Loving these affordable bike reviews!! So many better options now compared to when I bought my bike. man I want to buy a new bike!
Man, this is one of the best videos you do together. Probably not too much to disagree talking about a bike like this one. Man, because when you guys have opposite opinions, both of you are passionate with the way each of you defend his point of view. Great job! I will buy this buy as soon as they are on stock!!
I can't believe what you get for 2k these days. That's a nice ride.
@the mountain man troll 😂
the mountain man lol £55 bike
@Fin Zen right lol. Great starter bike. Someone's mad;) 55 for a bike 500 for a van. Lol my bike has close to 4k into it. Everyone is different. I hate when people bike snob. Its an ugly pile of crap??? How so I wonder.. Vitus came in smart with this. Good tires too.
@@SK-ps1mo the fork is actually only £500, but I have the same bike but the new model and it’s insane for the price
@@SK-ps1mo I got that bike but the new model for £1600 but I pay monthly
Stoked about the field test! I've been riding 29er HT since 2012. Plan to go FS in 2020. Budget is $2000 to $2500. Thanks guys!!
Great video guys , after months of waiting finaly ordered one of these bikes , sadly not the 29 but still expecting a huge upgrade compared to my hardtail Kona Fire Mountain , cant wait to get this on the trails the weekend !
I just bought this bike on CRC such a bargin, I CANNOT WAIT to ride it!!
It came and damn vitus you beauty!
How's the riding been?
Dude! That bike in that trail looks like a no brainer! So much fun!
Nice review. It would be great to mention wheels (width, weight), frame clearance, and hub engagement. Thanks.
I love this series, and glad to see people like Vitus putting out something that's about as good as you can get at the pricepoint, while also being objectively a good bike. I don't want a bike spec'd with a fancy fork if the geometry stinks. And as someone who's been thinking about a new bike for over a year now, glad to see there's some value options out there. I think with purposeful saving everyone could get the bike that they want, but especially for new riders, or people just getting into full-sus, I'm happy to have something like this to recommend to others so they don't go with a poor-performing $400 big box boat anchor.
Bought my wife and I both a Vitus based on this review. Can't wait until they arrive!
Where did you buy it, please let me know, thank you
Nice review! Love my Vitus VRX 😁 so fun
i'm impressed, that they are impressed with a balanced trail bike and are keen to say it. a burly bike is awesome and my preference, but a truly balanced bike is a really nice thing.
Interesting review. Especially as compared to reviews on bikes costing 3 times as much.
So stoked this all takes place in Sedona!
We haven't had normal MTB riding for nearly 6 months here in Alberta, sure looks nice down their in Arizona, cool looking trails
That's exceptional value for money. Nice looking too.
Hey guys, I realy enjoy watching this reviews/ tests. I´m looking forward to buy the Jeffsy CF Pro, but I want wo wait until your video is online and hear what you have to say about the bike. Maybe you would be so nice and tell me when the video gets online so I don´t have to check like 10 times a day.. xD
Anyways, thank you for this nice episode.
Btw, the editing on the videos is on point.. :)
Been riding mine since mid-December. Love it!
@naveed islam I did not. Shipping was free too.
@naveed islam Yes, from chainreactioncycles and I am in the US (North Carolina)
This bike was on my radar
You can get for 2299€ a yt Capra with better Brakes an more
What about The Marin Rift Zone 2? Been hearing lots of good things about it as well ...
Bought a Sentier last year and man its best bang for buck, and rides with no compromises.
Sohaib Younus me too man, Cant wait to dust it of This week and get back in to riding After a long winter
Vitus is becoming the new diamondback in terms of great bikes for amazing prices. Hopefully they don't change like DB.
I love my Mythique VRX 29er ... just a note on sizing. I'm 5'10 with a 30 inch inseam. bought a large and returned if for a medium and it's perfect. The large seemed huge and I had negative standover space.
I've got the Mythique VRS 29er. What a sick bike man, still can't believe the price on these bikes. Came from a hardtail so everyone told me to expect FS to feel slow and sluggish. As I'm sure you've felt, this bike just rips and is super efficient. For the price I thought there had to be some downsides but I'm just shocked how amazing this thing is. Now to take it to the bike park haha! Never wanted to bring my hardtail.
305randall Interesting feedback as I am also 5’10” and probably would have bought a large. Although I do have a 32” inseam. But standover is a great consideration!
@@smokedsalmon3907 I completely agree. I've had bikes that cost 2x the VRX and this thing impresses me every single day. I ride it daily in the lower french Alps...it is extremely capable.
@@rpiian being a mail order bike, the issue was significant enough that I went to the trouble of making the exchange which you can image was a pain in the backside. my other bike is a Rocky Mountain Element 29er and it's a large.
@@305randall hell yeah man! I'm over here riding in northern California haha. Really hoping to see more of them out on the trails. The bike feels amazing, and everytime I pass it by in my garage, I just sit and stare for a minute haha. Love all the curves and welds on the frame. What have you thought about the SX Eagle? I expected crappy since everyone says that but it's been solid so far.
Real life bikes. Well done. Waiting for other compared bikes.
Vitus bike are back in stock now 22 dec 2020 .Good luck ,I got mine
My new Vitus Sommet 29 VRX enduro is amazing. It's not a trail bike like reviewed here, but it nevertheless gives me some experience to vouch for the brand's value. As one of their top-of-the-line models it's certainly not cheap, but the value cannot be beat when comparing to similarly spec'd bikes. The performance is just as on-point as well.
I managed to find one of these in my size and it got bought out from under me while I was entering my payment and shipping info. FeelsBad :(
Man, I keep looking at this bike. I ride a trail hardtail currently and just need something more capable while still having that "under-biked" ethos. A bike I can hit the bike park with but not be out of place on my local singletrack. It has good geo, solid spec and that fork is a gem. All I would do to it would be 4 piston brakes (and cockpit upgrades) and a better shock (maybe coil). Just eveywhere else I look, Vitus seems to have the best bang for your buck...
That looks like a great value. Wish I could buy one.
Where the frig is the grim donut????
i think they ate it.
Who cares. Stupid bike
@@tarikmoore849 I disagree, it's cool to see how a bike is made from the designers perspective, and the ridiculous geometry seems to be the way the industry is heading. I want to know how well it rides.
Alive, importantly. They're rolling all these out, then they'll start teasing us with more Grim Donut coverage
@@tarikmoore849 why so ? i think main customers lost what's important in sport, make them happy, not filled up their ego with brand new top carbon frame, rim, cockpit ect ect ... all of this to ride like a sausage ...
Awesome 👍 Keep it up
nooooo wayyyyy, i just found this brand was first made in my hometown, Saint Etienne, France, how could i don't know that ???? i want this bike now !! my hometown has a strong history with cycle manufacturing (and weapons) it means quite a lot for me when i see a bike ( not a gun ahah ) that has been made in the 60 right in front of my door ...
So you must know how to pronounce the name correctly. Please tell
@@tristanwwsd it must be more like veetus, but "us " pronouce the french way, in french phonetic the "u" is "y" i think, try to find how to pronounce the "u" on the internet, anyway who cares now to pronounce this the way it was at the start, everybody think it's irish now ahah
Some of my stools are more solidly built than those SX Eagle derailleurs.
I hope. If you would sit on you're stool and it was built like a sram it would snap LOL
Just some???
@@jaredhofsink I thought he was referring to his turds - also known as stools...

Thanks for the review! I am 5-9 to 5-10. 5-10 heights puts a person at the upper size range for medium, low size range for large. You note you are 5-10 and are riding the large; you comfortable with your frame selection? Thanks in advance for your help!
I just want a pinkbike 1hr intro theme song to ride to 🤣
Am going to have to do some research on this bike
Nice looking rig.
Yeah that's one thing that has always attracted me to vitus is the lack of need to upgrade the components, nearly all their machines come with good or a great package
These are on sale on Chain Reaction Cycles website for $1799 right now. What a deal!
They have changed the fork to xfusion; not sure how that compares but noteworthy.
Every bike I’ve looked at on that site is out of stock. Is that normal?
@@BasicPremium same. Let me know if you find it in stock anywhere please.
Looks so much better than the current colour scheme on the 2021.
I can’t find the VRX 27 in a medium- Pink bike dudes, can you speak to how the covid pandemic is impacting the availability of direct-to-consumer bikes specifically? Thanks and great work guys!
Nothing makes me feel better about my riding than seeing others walk their bikes up a hill too.
Okay my dudes... So as far as the price is concerned, Should I get the Mythique or should I do the YT Jeffsy? I want to do the 27.5... I live in Southern California and am surrounded by some pretty good elevation.. thoughts?
Does the dropper post go down far enough ? I have heard some folks complain about that
Would you say the Bomber Z2 preformed better than the Revelation on the Commencal?
There’s been loads of uk reviews of this bike saying the bottom bracket is too high, did you guys feel that, and is that why you described it a classic trail bike?
The Vitus Nucleus is a great entry level hardtail. If you can get one...
Yay for reviews of bikes that don't cost as much as a car.
Unstable at speed and rewards smart line choices, but fastest and second fastest in the test! It's not always about making everything easier. That's what they meant by reward line choice. It means rewards skill. Great bike for a more competent, aggressive rider.
Waiting for this bike and I wonder if anyone knows if can change those sx cranks for shimanos bb and m8000 crank right or of the box? Will this work well with the rest sx group? This will be the first upgrade to this bike.
All I would change is the shifter and derailleur to gx and maybe the grips
The grips are actually super nice with a bit of a taper. Was gonna buy new grips with the bike but decided to give them a chance. Way nicer than the aftermarket ones I've got on my other bike. Once the SX drive train poops out I'm going Shimano haha. So far it's been totally solid, surprising from what people say about SX.
No one in my area has one of these to try out, but I'm willing to give it a go. Any suggestions on sizing ? I'm 5.9, 190 pounds, 30 inch inseam. Medium or large ?
got the 2021 version. The second coolest thing I own after a car)
lucky you, been wanting this bike all out of stock
@@ec9287 set up crc stock notifications and check vitus restock prediction. They are usually pretty accurate on that.
Can you guys do a review of a bike from Motobecane that is comparable to this Vitus? I’m just curious how it would compare.
How does the pipeline a30 compare to these? I honestly think it offers Moore.
Whats with the different DTSwiss rims in the shot where Jason hucks the bike to flat? Did you break the original rims that came on the bike?
For the Huck to Flat we used a wheel set with Cush Core installed on all the bikes to save the stock rims on the bikes as they still had to be ridden for 2 weeks. The wheels on the Vitus held up great for the duration of the test.
Looking forward to the high tower aluminium
How does the Vitus match up against the Canyon Nueron 6.0 and 7.0?
I’m 5’11 on a good day looking at this bike would it be better to go medium or large
Jason’s PinkBike job title: Huck to flat tester
I think this bike will be a good first full suspension bike for me. I do more trail riding. Than more downhill stuff
Had this bike on the radar and i think it´s a bargain with the 10% off now on CRC.
Just decided to build a Dartmoor Hornet and recently ordered a frame tho
hoping to see rockrider am100s 2020 in the next testing video serious
What would that bike be like for someone 6'3 230lbs? Would my weight max that rear shock out?
I have the VR version of this bike. I’m a 64 year old beginner , I just love it. When they say Tubeless ready, what does the exactly mean?. Just take the tubes out and add sealant?. No taping the rim. Thanks, great video
No you'll still need to add tape and tubeless valves, and then add sealant. Bang for buck it's one of the best upgrades you can do to a bike 👍
Good for 270lbs rider? Thanks!
That look like real nice bike be for gravel trails and road biking fir me I got get in shape
The times on the test loop were compared with every bike on the tests or only with the sub-2000$ bikes?
Compared with all 8 bikes we had on test.
Very cool bike! Did you guys put the nukeproof reactor 290 in this test group?
We didn't, but the Reactor was reviewed last fall: www.pinkbike.com/news/review-nukeproof-reactor-290c-rs.html.
Norco fluid fs3 vs Marin hawk hill vs vitus mythique ?
Canyon Neuron AL review please !!
i ride long distance rocky terrain, i go fast at times and slow, this is the highest id pay at 2000. so is this the bike i should go for???
Where can I buy this bike I can’t seem to find it anywhere?
I work in a bike shop and after riding the 10 speed 11-46 on the mythique vr, I can say that i prefer it over SRAM eagle SX 11-52 that was on a carbon hardtail. Just shows that going with the biggest range isn't always the best, the SX shifter is awkward and hard to use and the shifting feels clunky overall.
I think you guys should have tested the Calibre Triple B instead of the Bossnut. I'm confident it would have destroyed the under 2000 test. Sektor RL, Monarch R pre-upgraded with the DebonAir can, big upgrade to NX and a DUB crankset, massive upgrade from the 2 pot Shimanos to Guide RE's. And the SX to NX especially is important in the long term, SX just doesn't hold up. In MBR's own words, "Takes the piss out of plenty of bikes costing double the cash".
Is Calibre just a single pivot or linkage driven single? And what's the travel? I was thinking about the Bossnut a while ago but they only ship UK.
@@smokedsalmon3907 130mm single pivot swingarm with a pivot chainstay on a little rocker link. I've got the last gen version, pedals really well even though it isn't a super duper DW or anything
@@jamie-kd9tx ah nice so it is linkage driven single. Definitely a cool bike, probably would have gone with it if it were available in the US. Crazy how good of a price you can get on a dope FS these days.
@@smokedsalmon3907 True that. I've been searching for a better value bike just so I don't jump to conclusions saying its the best out there, but haven't come up with anything. Calibre also has their sentry enduro bike, and the pro version is absolutely bling, £2800 (3500$ ish?), with lyrik ultimate, super deluxe ultimate coil, code r's, full gx, WTB asym rims and top spec WTB tyres too, awesome geo, and decendant finishing kit. Also a reverb which is... interesting. Only other bike that is that value is maybe a custom specced Propain Hugene. Yeah, shame they don't ship international.
This vs the Siskiu T7?? which would you get?
400 bucks extra gets you the base level Sommet CR. Carbon framed enduro banger!
I got a Vitus Sommet and the geo is great, i had to upgrade the fork and now it is a beast. Quite often you are just paying too much for the brand name 🤷♂️
is it possible to extend the travel of the fork to 150mm?
I'm pretty sure it uses the same air spring as a Fox Rhythm 34, so if those can go to 150mm then these probably can too. Would have to do some googling.
Marzocchi Bomber Z2 can go from 100-150mm pretty easily without making any irreversible changes.
those cacti freak me out
When I goto the Vitus website you can not even find this model (Mythigue 29 VRX) Went to the Wiggle site and it said no longer available. You guys just reviewed and posted this so did they quit making it or is there an alternative model?
I'm looking at it on the Vitus website right now.
@@tristanwwsd My comment was 5 days ago... its back on there now but still not available. Talked with Vitus.

What are some reasons someone would go for the 27 instead?
im still waiting for the grim dounut to be for sale
apparently last years $2,000 model was better spec'd than this years model. I think all prices have gone up slightly given the times though
Is the market really overwhelmed right now or what's going on? I've been watching countless videos on sub $2k bikes and every single one is sold out in every size. My next step is a local shop but for these direct to consumer bikes, which happens to be the ones I find myself liking most, what is going on.
So my 2018/2019 enduro, now has trail bike geometry!
Give it two more years and your enduro will evolve into an xc bike haha! I feel like this bike is pushing easily into all mountain territory, definitely not enduro but between it and trail. Definitely love the geometry on the Mythique.
steph ratsimba which enduro
It's a degree slacker than my 2019 Canyon Spectral lol
