My uncle went to jail for 2 years for paralyzing the man who brutally sexually assaulted his daughter while she was on her way home from school when she was 12 . He doesn’t regret it and said he would do it again … he’s living a peaceful life with my auntie on the Rez now .
Pretty incredible he only got 2 years. Unfortunate that it even had to come to the point where he had to handle it himself. But at the end of the day it's a mans job before anyone else's to protect his kids. I'm glad he's doing well now!

PARTICULARLY because they were both people employed in professions that assume safeguarding to a major degree. I rarely say "it's society's fault," but society ALSO has a role to play in this nightmare. Because their society deemed them appropriate individuals to participate in these professions. Honestly, how obtuse do you, as a full-on society, have to be, to elect these people as upstanding citizens worthy of such posts? And even if they fooled that society into giving them these jobs, why are these people not regularly scrutinized? As far as I'm concerned, anyone responsible for the safeguarding of anyone should be regularly screened. As in, monthly. And aggressively.
This one-time background check is ridiculous. Particularly because a majority of the people entering the workforce are too young to have learned to execute their personal propensities, and that definitely includes most predators. If you need a one-time background check to ensure the solidity of an employee's moral character, then it's worth repeating those checks, ad nauseam, at least a few times every year. As well as a full on psychological evaluation, not by bored government psychologists, but by experts trained to spot red flags that aren't blatantly obvious.
I realize that these kinds of protocol can cause their own problems. But the lack of such a thing is causing problems too. And those problems tend to be experienced by the innocent. At least, with the hyper-vigilence I'm suggesting, the erroneous fallout lands on the heads of the employees, and not some vulnerable population.
He's both a Child Sexual Predator and an ex-cop, I guarantee he is not having a fun time in prison.
Seriously, is there any reason for those two to continue to inhabit Earth?
Definitely, life in prison with all that comes with being child abusers, and life in solitary is even worse from what I've heard so no matter what people that do petty crimes with share the word. They'll both have a worse time living out their days in prison over an luxury last meal and injection

It's weird, but stories of serial killers are easier to hear than stuff like this. (Not that murder is *easy* to listen to... but something about exploiting and abusing children just hits different.)
This is the first episode that made me physically sick.

And Cynthia is just as guilty. If my partner tried to coerce me into doing such a horrible thing, one of us would be dead. I'd rather die than ever do that to a child.
Oh no doubt , they don’t treat people are just one of those things well, let alone both. The other prisoners most certainly won’t take kindly to him even breathing the same air as them. He’ll be lucky if he gets only solitary for his entire sentence after all without it he’s at definite risk of seeing himself at the end of another inmates shiv .

Not only is it disgusting on a physical level, it's something that is impossible for a kid to understand. It's damaging in such a way that's even difficult to describe.

I can believe he was hired as a cop. A Tacoma police chief who flunked the psychological exam got in because his dad and brother were Tacoma police officers. His problems became known after he shot his estranged wife to death and then committed suicide all in front of their children in a parking lot. The woman was Crystal Brame. If you wanted to do a segment on her and her nightmare marriage to David Brame, I would be interested in your take on it.

I get it in cases with little evidence or wanting the location to a body but there was overwhelming evidence and without a doubt they were guilty, there was absolutely no reason for a plea deal they didn’t need any of the witnesses to testify in court with video and picture evidence. There was no excuse or reason for either to get a plea deal.
It’s taken me several times to watch this. Thank you Emma for acknowledging how badly our lives can be impacted when this happens to us. It’s over 30 years since mine began and I still get triggered that often that it isn’t a shock to my very understanding, supportive and caring husband
This case is horrific. I can't imagine what the parents of that woman's students must have been thinking. I would have gone postal if my son had been in that situation. Also, the poor girls they molested, filmed, and just destroyed and all for their sick fun, it just makes my head explode with rage. Too bad that box isn't a co%%i#. Also, HOW did he get hired when his test had so many weird responses and the committee recommended they NOT hire him??? YES, she got off easy. Women in these cases usually do.

This made me sick to my stomach. I was sexually abused by more than one abuser and it destroyed my life. I'm 35 and still not able to enter into a relationship. These people do not deserve the air that they breath. I was told to just get over it and that destroyed me even more. She is NOT a victim. They are sick sick sick!!!!
The thing these cops don’t understand is there is a difference between covering up a little DUI vs child molestation. They get away with so much for so long they think they’re exempt.

This is horrific, his wife made cupcakes and then he did that. Also, one of his victims has been sentenced to prison and is finally getting a new trial. It took a lot of fighting to get that new trial. I know a man who is working on her case.

Your talking about that lost prophets singer right? I had actually never even heard of them until I saw these true crime documentaries about that case. That is a disgusting case too. In my opinion the mothers should get the same sentence as the man, and it should be life at least for all of them. I don't think they are necessarily more guilty,(that's just how I see it) but they are all equally guilty, and it was definitely quite an awful betrayal on their part too against their kids. I get why you think they are worse though. It's because of the huge betrayal that they've committed.

I have loved beyond belief but no one could make me hurt or abuse someone I disliked never mind a child. Any abuser that claims they are a victim and were forced or coerced etc to do these vile things is insulting to real victims.

Cynthia is guilty as he is, as was the other woman involved. Cynthia's family claimed she wasn't that way but coerced, yet they never reported any changes in her behaviour or believe she was being abused. Clear female privilege is going on there. They both should have been given life, no parole, or the DP!
I think the sheriff is to blame the most he stood up for his buddy and let the community down by doing that and I think that wife is as bad as the husband .
I grew up in the area where this took place and was still living there when it was first being reported on. I have little siblings in that public school system and come from a family of educators. We were all sickened and disturbed at the time. I'm glad to see a larger, non-local channel covering the case. The perpetrators don't deserve to slip into obscurity, in my opinion.

You’re so correct about the policing! We were there just under a month ago and it’s kinda like an “anything goes…just not in front of us” attitude. Beautiful place, beautiful state and only had positive experiences directly but we did witness a few issues

What really upsets me is that so many abusers of all kinds seek out the very professions that render people vulnerable and that are supposed to be a notch above others in the trust department. Medical professionals, clergy, daycare workers and educators seem to be at the top of the list followed closely by step parents and other family members.
But at least people believe their children much more often than when I was growing up.

A large portion of Baton Rouge citizens just won the right to form their own city. They paid the major portion of taxes but didn't get much benefit from them & the crime is bad as well as they schools. A few years ago there were 2 serial killers on the loose at the same time there.
In the United States it’s not uncommon for high risk people to be hired. And the officers who are found to be exceptionally violent and get fired for using excessive force at 1 department simply move to the next county over. Typically they never miss a paycheck. They cost the taxpayers millions in civil rights lawsuits but they are not only accepted by law enforcement, they are PROTECTED by law enforcement. It’s disgusting
I had hoped that the case of Chauvin (ist pig) might have changed that.

It's absolutely disgusting the way judges sentence people charged with petty, non-violent crimes compared with violent and sexual crimes. The offenders have more rights than victims in our 'justice system'
I'm so sorry for you. I truly hope you can find some kind of solace in religion, in a religion that suits you. If you are a Christian, I recommend to read about the Cathars and gnosticism and think that what people did to you must in one way or another come back to them.

I have also been abused horribly and they got away with it and they ruined my life. The only thing that helps a little for me is praying and hoping, knowing, one day they will pay for it even if its not in this life.
I'm from Sweden and they don't punish abusers, it's always the victims fault or not enough or not good enough evidence they say and let the abusers go free.
One I think 8 year old girl was SA and told her mother that man touched her "there", she used a word that every normal Swede knows, but the judges refused to sentence the pdf file because they said the word she used for her "parts" "was not clear enough".
There were SO many protests all over Sweden and eventually the abuser was punished. Guess what he got? 3 YEARS IN A SWEDISH HOTEL-LIKE "prison".
And he will spend MAXIMUM 2 years because Swedish law always removes 1/3 of the sentence. For no reason at all. We have no seggs offender registry either.

Im wondering if she got that quick divorce so she could try to make a plea deal by testifying against him. I know a spouse is not legally bound to testify against the other. I think they can if they want to but if she did testify against him but stayed married, the jury may not believe her. (That theory was much shorter in my mind and seemed to make more sense 🥴)
