The best possible outcome. One of the best moments in the series. This is what you HAVE to do. No exception!!! The criteria below is essential
~ Tali and Legion has to be alive in ME3. DONT SELL LEGION TO CERBERUS EITHER
~ Rescue Admiral Koris
~ Have a high reputation. At least 4 Bars
~ Destroy the geth fighter squadrons
~ Do the reaper base mission last
~ Let Legion upload the code. - Hry
It's been years since the first time I play this, I just realized that in Legion's few last lines, he used "I", singular, instead of "we"..
Damn.
Edi would also take note of that in a later dialogue
Yes, EDI has a dialogue for that
Just noticed that!
I love EDI's comment on Legion's last moments:
"Before Legion sacrificed himself, he referred to himself as ‘I’ instead of 'we’. The singular pronoun indicates that Legion’s independent personality had fully actualized. In his final moments he was no longer an avatar of the Geth consensus… He was a person."
He also referred to Tali as "Tali" instead of "Creator Tali'Zorah."
In his last moments, he saw her as a friend instead of just a "creator".
Heh. Foolish Reaper. It could've tried to kill me by destroying the cliff I was standing on using good ol' brute force. But it was literally Too Dumb To Live.
lol
Or just swipe the beam sideways, so that we couldn't dodge.
they all are too dumb to live :) giant electronic prawns "beyound our comprehension"
As big and powerful as it is I'm pretty sure it was too damaged and too far away to do anything.
Always have a full reputation bar. Any other outcome is unacceptable for me.
Lol same
I actually stopped playing ME3 when I found out I couldn't do this. I later got a copy of ME2 so I could force this.
@@NightOwl1515 You did yourself a favor buying Mass Effect 2 for more than just saving the Quarians and Geth.
@@kylefunderburk4194 Mass Effect 2 was in my opinion the best Mass Effect
"Shepard Commander. I must go to them. I'm sorry. It's the only way."
"Legion....the answer to your question was "Yes""
"I know Tali. But thank you. Keelah se'lai."
I have faith in humanity (and synthetics) once more. Best moment in the entire game.
"Organics and synthetics don't have to destroy each other"
Oh Shepard, if only you'd had the balls to say that in the end scene.
I'm not crying, you're crying!
I'm not crying ! Someone forgot their Bowl of onions here !
We are crying
We both are
I know. Keelah se'lai.
"You represent Chaos, we represent order"
I really wish we had the option to tell the reaper to shove that crap. Before the reapers came, there was a status quo to the galaxy that was damn near hard to break. It may not have always been peaceful, it was a peace regardless. Then the reapers came. They talk crap about 'protecting us from synthetics'...yet the Geth were never a true problem or a threat, as we learned from Legion, until a damn reaper convinced a portion of them to be a problem. There was order in the galaxy, until the came and basically flipped the table because that's what they always do...
Well the status quo was a bunch of horror space sea monsters enslaving the galaxy, not exacly the best status quo
It's paradoxical.
This moment and the ability to cure the genophage are the real Ending moments of the game to me. Because you aren't just saving the galaxy, you are making things right again.
man , if me4 will let you decide which race your character can be , i hope that geth will be in the list.
Ruggero Maricchiolo well I bet you are sad now
MrEnderking2013 In all honesty, its not the lack of character creator options that makes me sad...
There is a Quarian Ark DLC being made, so there is a chance we will see the Geth return and could maybe be used in Multiplayer the least.
Honey Badger I’m pretty sure that’s now cancelled
I'm pretty sure the game is dead...and maybe the franchise too...in the meantime...
It sucks that you need a lot of paragon for this option. I went through the whole trilogy and I thought that I did every single paragon choice. Then, I was presented with the choice to speak to the fleet greyed-out. Biggest heartbreak, even more than the ending.
I know it sucks when something like that happens
+Karmagician Tali has to not be in exile in ME2 and it helps if the heretic base is destroyed. There is a point system that is not entirely paragon or renegade.
*acknowledgement this is super old*
Yeah, there are certain choices that are important for this event, and each gives a certain number of 'points'. You need a certain total of points in order to choose the peaceful option.
@@jackiechan715 is there a glitch. I did everything I was supposed to do and it didn't give me the option. I do have only 4 bars of rep though
Taylor Stiles You need at least five.
Creators and created, hands and head, together at last. Sometimes, the good ending rocks.
Legion and Mordin are my favorite Characters
Legion is one of the best. Love mass effect
"has to be me, someone might getting it wrong"
"Shepard-commander I..... Must go to them..... It's the only way"
"meet you at the Shore Thane"
"you did good son..... You make me proud"
a man of culture
Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
This is 100% proof positive that THAT ending was just contrived and ill-thought out, probably due to a rush to release the game. It doesn't even sit canonically with this mission, let alone the overall ethos of the game. Hurray! I won back my sweetheart Tali's homeworld and made peace between the quarians and the geth! Only for a couple of hours later to be told "nope, you can't do that, organics and synthetics have to fight each other because I said so".
Seriously how they even had the nerve to go with that ending is beyond me. The geth were even fighting with the rest of the Galaxy to save organics from the Reapers! Did BioWare really not think anyone would notice?
The original ending was leaked months before launch, EA forced them to rewrite a new ending, it was rushed and we all saw the result. This is what tore the dev team apart and caused a mass exodus. They had plans for more Shepploo games but they gave EA the finger. Hence we have Andromeda. Its not terrible but it will never be the masterpiece ME 2 was.
I'm gonna have to disagree on that statement about the ending. How long will this peace last? 300 years they couldn't get along but 5 minutes of peace completely proves the reapers wrong? I don't buy that logic. And since the reaper have been around for millions, if not roughly 1 billion years, seeing one race establish peace at the last minute proves nothing, like a glitch in the system that's uncommon and easily goes back to normal. It's easy to focus on the here-and-now but you have to look a little further than that.
@@ShockBlast-mw3td and we know this universe for a five years, 100+ hours of playing and in the last five minutes some space child just told us "sintetic will always kill organic". Nice try but i will never believe in that. Trough all 3 games i see as reapers wants to kill us all, not "some sint", but exactly a reapers.
Bioware fucked up tremendously with ME3 ending.. And now newer generations will experience the same shitty ending when they play the "remastered" version.
Leviathan did say that this cycle was different.
yes, this is best moment in whole series... amazing
target the reapers...target the reapers...somebody fire!
Atticus The Gaming Llama Oh my god I thought of that line as soon as I saw the 'target the reaper' text
Commander Shepard: I'm a leaf on the wind.
You need to do all the side missions on Rannoch and have 4 bars of rep I think.
Huh, fancy seeing you here. LOL
You need to work on it sinc episode 2 to unlock this
Yeah plus you need 5 points which can be gained from the following:
+2 if Tali is exonerated
+2 if heretics are destroyed instead of rewritten
+1 if you break up fight between Tali and Legion
+1 For completing admiral mission
+1 for actually saving the admiral
You can't do this without Legion. So you need an ME2 save where neither he/Tali are dead, plus a whole other bunch of factors. This is probably the hardest outcome to get in the series. It's actually pretty dope because making peace between the Geath and Quarian should be near impossible. Shepard does with the power o FRIENDSHIP, what a beast.
If I was Tali and Shepard had that face I'd have jumped off the cliff anyway.
That reaper sounds like a corrupt elephant
For me, this was the best moment in gaming that i ever experienced.
Crying over this in 2017. Damn this was an incredible series.
I cried here, It was something I was amazed, I couldn't believe that my character was able to stop war against Quarians and Geth's. I just...Tali and Quarian's got their Homeworld, Geth's are free, War against them is over.....I was a bit sad for Legion, and when I heard that he said "I" and not "We", I was happy, but It's so hard to believe me that Legion had to sacrificed, when I played ME1, and heard from Tali, about their war, I tried to do whatever I had to, to convince both of races to stop killing eachother. When I met Legion in ME2, I liked him from the first seconds, like Tali in ME1. Legion told me his story in ME2, He showed me his story in ME3, it's so sad ending for me, I think he was in some way happy, cause he died free, and he died with the knowledge that there is peace, and his people are free. Mass Effect is the only game, that I felt that kind of emotions. No other game made me that feeling, after all I was so much happy, after playing ME1, ME2 and seeing this, it's just made me happy :') BTW, That Soundtrack in that kind of moment is so much....I just felt the same feeling like I typed here in ME1 when I found that VI, telling story in Illos :)
Romaander I do believe that is “Vigil” from ME1 playing over Legion’s death
That is still such immense bullshit that Legion dies no matter what tbh
Yea
Geth option: he dies to free the Geth
Quarian option: goes insane and attempts to kill you
Peace option: same things as Geth but everyone else lives
Yeah, but so is the ending of the game even with the DLC additions... It still infuriates me that there's no way to destroy the Reapers, triumph in the current Cycle AND keep the Geth and EDI alive; that the writers were so determined to have a big-reveal "twist" ending at the end, they seemed to think they needed to give us a scenario where there IS no "best option" - and I don't count the Perfect Destroy ending as that either, because it still implies that the geth and EDI are sacrificed; between saving them with Shepard dying or sparing Shepard in exchange, my personal principles CANNOT allow me to pick one person over the greater many...
If the writers wanted us to buy the codswallop that peace between artificial and organic life cannot be obtained without the Control or *shudder* the Symbiosis ending, then they shouldn't have made peace between the quarians and geth even POSSIBLE - by doing so, then intentionally or not they shot their own message in the spine, punched it in the gut hard enough to draw blood, cut its eyes, ears and tongue out, and then dragged it through the mud by the legs... Honestly, you'd think the people who realised that Virmire needed a sacrifice - either Ashley or Kaidan, no two ways about it - would have realised that pushing so many third options later in the series would backfire when they tried to railroad the players at the last minute. They KNEW that making it possible to save both of them would make the possibility of playing on further games with EITHER sacrifice redundant (that's why they scrapped older plans to do so), so WHY didn't they realise that making us able to openly DEFY the ideal that peace isn't possible as seen here, would make ANYONE willing to save both races want to destroy one of them, even to kill the Reapers? Bah...
Even now, I can't actually play the games myself (I've watched them on videos) because not even the Mod endings truly satisfy me (the best one just cuts the Catalyst and Shepard's death out, which I can understand). However, if we can assume that the DLC Refuse Ending means that the Reapers are defeated without any of the races being wiped out completely then that's the closest to an ending I'd ever pick. If I knew how to Mod, though, I'd make an ending where Shepard dies to destroy the Reapers and ONLY the Reapers, and his/her sacrifice brings genuine peace to the galaxy at last, breaking the cycle... THAT would be my perfect ending; one which wouldn't weaken the theme of sacrifice for victory, but wouldn't force any player to compromise their morals. And if anyone tries to tell me to pick Synthesis - go f*** yourself, you-you... you free-will-stealing, defeatist hypocrite!
Well, Tali ends up committing suicide during the Geth Option, though.
That's a whole theme throughout the game, and I've never had a problem with it : you can't save everyone. Everything must come at a cost. I actually love the fact that whatever happens, Legion dies anyway. He's the only squadmate to be doomed like that. Not even Mordin, not even fucking Thane. It gives his character depth. As for the impossibility of a 100% happy ending, it was obvious from the start. I mean, it's good enough that we can even NEGOTIATE with the Reapers, as it is impossible to defeat them with raw force. Obviously, if only one choice was to be given to you, the game would lose the sense of freedom that it bases itself upon. That's why they had to nuance all three endings and have each of them get their own drawbacks : the potential corruption of Control, the eerieness of Synthesis and how immortality will end up overcrowding the galaxy, and the loss of any AI in the Destroy ending.
Still hate the fact that almost none of our choices are really shown mattering in the ending parts of the game...
OronkonPhoenix There's also the fact that in the first game, when you play through Virmire, there is NO third option; you cannot save both Ashley and Kaiden, you have to choose which of them you can save at ALL because there's just no time to save them both... Hammered in further by the fact that there's unused recordings which show a third option was considered by the development team, but discarded - they realised that if there were any way to save them both (New Game+ or what have you) it would make the choice moot and nobody would want to play ME2 with either of them dead; this isn't like the suicide mission where the outcome (including who lives and who dies) is determined by player skill, ingenuity and the like, Virmire is a simple "X or Y" which doesn't have major repercussions to the overall plot but nonetheless tells the player that a perfect victory is simply... a theme which carries over from ME1 to ME3.
Regardless, it's hard not to see why people felt gipped with the endgame choice - especially since Casey Hudson and co went on and on about how the final ending would NOT be down to 2 or 3 irrefutable choices, it's easy to feel let down when they did just that, especially in the non-DLC version of the game. Even now, people aren't satisfied completely, and while for some of them that's because we can't get an indisputable "happy ending", there's also a large grey area in the fandom - like the fact that if you choose to "Refuse" the only outcome is a short clip showing Liara talk about how they lost and such (the AngryJoeShow criticised this for not letting us use all our resources in a final stand against the Reapers, even if the outcome was futile, to give at least an impression that getting all those items counts...)
For my part, I never took umbrage with Shepard dying - I understand and accept it, so even if I'd rather s/he didn't perish I understand the thematic aspect of it deeply. But... the "perfect" ending (where Shepard dies) still has the Geth and EDI all dying, which renders any efforts to make the Quarian/Geth peace moot; more importantly, it spits in the face of letting the player find a world where organics and synthetics CAN live in peace, and intentionally or not reinforces the idea that the Reapers' half-baked ideology is RIGHT - not grey, but outright CORRECT, because you aren't given the option to refute them at all, and THAT also makes Shepard surviving less "happy" than it should be because such a scenario and Shepard's (unavoidable) reaction to it makes death feel like a welcome gift rather than a sacrifice.
My ideal ending? Destroy the Reapers, but ONLY the Reapers, through Shepard sacrificing their life - by which I mean, that it's not just Shepard being a casualty, but that the only option which utterly refutes the Reaper's insane ideology is that by giving his/her life, Shepard somehow finds a way to avoid destroying the other synthetics while still removing the Reapers forever... Such an ending would have kept the theme of sacrifice, shown the strength of choice, been unlockable only in a particular situation (like the Geth-Quarian peace and the higher score, etc.) and not made a hash of the game's themes.
But since that isn't possible, as the game stands I'll go for "Refuse" every time - no matter how anti-climactic it is, it's still the only ending where you can outright defy the Reapers instead of sacrifice your morals, and at least Liara's old recording reveals that the next cycle was able to defeat the Reapers for good thanks to the information Shepard and their friends left for the Galaxy... I'd rather find some way to properly subvert the Reapers and stick it to the Star Child (ie: not the famous MOD ending, no matter how delightfully happy it is, because it abandons disliked plot points rather than makes them done RIGHT), but I'll take what I can get that doesn't require giving the Reapers what they want - telling them that they're right, and that whateever compromise option they offer is the only way. Because it's NOT.
It's remarkable how moving this is, considering it's the death of a gestalt entity that only just then recognized itself as an individual.
Ok... let me just say. The geth and quarian arc throughout the trilogy is a masterclass in writing :D
This scene and Mordin's sacrifice brought tears to my eyes. That was some great writing for those parts of the game.
One of my favorite gaming moments of all time I think
worst excuse ever to make Legion die
are you daft it's a great end to his character arc
Oh the feels. The fucking feels this series gave me.
Legion: “Does this unit have a soul?”
Me: 😢
Tali: “The answer to your question was yes.”
Me: 😭
I just finished this scene on the legendary edition...damn... just... I never thought over the course of playing these games I'd be emotional over a geth's sacrifice.
So long, my metal brother in arms. Hope you found peace on the network.
I'm confused. I have done all the things in the descripsion, and it still didn't show up ?!?
7:25 Brought a tear to my eye when Legion said "I" instead of "We" :')
One of the best moments of Mass Effect 3.
GOOSEBUMPS
Best moment in the entire series.
God damn what a good scene.
I agree! Everything leading up to the ending was just pants-dropping. It brought boy-tears to my face seeing previous team-mate's names on that K.I.A. wall. Such a story of unity, I love it!
"it's beautiful, isn't it?"
It's a fucking wasteland!
Thanks !!!
Awesomeness.
I just realized. Tali says "It is beautiful, though, isn't it?" while looking out at the view. Shepard replies "Yeah. It is." while never taking her (his) eyes of Tali. Secret crush in the case of not having her as a LI?
I nearly started balling when Legion dropped the first time I played. I seriously felt like I lost one of my own.
I'm on ME-LE, and I finish it. Awesome to comeback to this game. For me, this is THE best epic and emotional moment in whole of the trilogy. Such a great game...
This is one of my favourite parts of the game
I can't believe they made it impossible to save Legion. He was one of my favorite characters. I feel like someone just shot my puppy.
The first time I did this I was like: Fuck yeah! LET'S FUCKING GOOO!!
this Scene made me smile ^^
Legion's flashlight is so fucking bright Shepard is now blind.
This makes the Destroy ending a slap to the face.
Can’t wait to finish moving. I wanna replay all 3 games again.
@darthkarr well, it is their homeworld. And in the description of the planet before you land, I think it mentions that there are patches of livable land near rivers (obviously but w/e.) And the admiral in the video says that there's fertile farmlands in the south. So it's not entirely barren wasteland.
@Ohem1 Were you inside the geth consensus?
Throughout this conflict did you promote peace?
Epic. Wish you were playing M!Shep, and romancing Tali; still, Awesome!
It's amazing how this series makes you "grow" in a way. The first Mass Effect I didn't care too much for the aliens. Was rather human-centric at first. Then I met Garrus and Tali. Then Liara and by the end I was more acceptable of the aliens. The second one, I hated the Geth but then met Legion by the end of that I was was questioning if Geths were in fact just the same as us. By the time I got to the Geth servers and saw how they were scared in the beginning of the war, I wanted to help.
them have not fear
Best Scene in the entire Mass Effect Series
peace between the geth and quarians, ending the genophage. defeating the reapers. all just super super great scenes.
I loved this scene more than any other, because Tali is such a great character and i loved seeing her so happy. Plus Rannoch is Definitely one of the best looking planets in the ME Universe.
chills are running down my fuckin spine
Fighting the Reaper there is one of the best moments in the game honestly.
I mean seriously, you have a mono e mono battle against a Reaper.
At least you something to support you. SHIP MISSILE LAUNCHERS FOR THE WIN!
So well done. Why couldn't the ending have been this good?
R.I.P Legion.
HEY! When I played through the game twice, as a human Male Shepard, at the 5:43 mark it gives me only Die Geth, or Die Quarians and Tali as an option. How do I possibly change this? Galactic Readiness is at 97% all systems, what's wrong?
> It's the real Legion. You can only get peace with the real Legion
> Yep, Legion attacks you if you let them die
> Nah you dont have to get both. Multiplayer and other things play a role
@DonsGamingEnterprise you dont have to do everything in that list, theres a mathematical formula involved that assigns values to each variable and if it adds upto 5-7 you can make peace and 0-4 its impossible, theres a flowchart somewhere i forget tho, so i dont know which values each gets
Thank you very much for this Video. I was pissed to see the Geth Destroy the Quarian (and Tali commit suicide) in my first attempt after a boss battle much like yours. I reloaded a followed your steps because my first run through I did not save Koris. Also if you do not have a ME2 file this is impossible. By the way the boss fight is easy. My first try I was pissed saying it is the worst ever, but if you roll twice before the show and stand still when aiming right below the laser it is simple.
thanks man I have downloaded the ME2 save file so I'm gonna play the whole game again
@DonsGamingEnterprise
i need your help i did everything you said in the description and in mass effect 2 i had the heretics rewrote and when i had legion upload the code the two choses werent there i just had to choose from stopping him or letting him continue and my paragon was nearly full as well plz tell me what to plz and thank you
Ooooh! Bold!
better than ending, nuff said
Sounds like a great plan thank you :) I have not tried that yet!
@acealexander702 Correct, the reason why Legion is so important is because he's like an avatar for all geth. He wants peace too. He's the one that originally helps you understand why the geth are the way they are in the first place.
@DonsGamingEnterprise thank you so much for the information
It was well worth replaying ME2 just so I could get that to happen. I aaaalmost hate to admit that uniting the Quarians and Geth made me feel... almost proud.
2:18
One of my more satisfying moments in life. Best way to say "Fuck you" to a reaper
@michaell8000 doesnt matte if you're paragon or renegade. The reputation bar by itself has to be high enough.
Best moment in the series, in my opinion. I'm so glad that I chose this choice. Legion is the best. What a teammate.
He’s their messiah
guys if you get to the position where you can see the paragon/renegade options but they're greyed out, just reload and do a few side missions before attempting it again. get your paragon/renegade rating up to 4 notches and you'll be able to achieve peace.
@Ohem1 So long as you do both before the final mission, it'll count. I don't think they measure which one you did first/second, only that once the final mission starts, everything is locked in.
@DonsGamingEnterprise Have you tried rolling two or three times aside? Worked for me ^^
@DonsGamingEnterprise Curious, havent gotten here yet. but i hear destroying/rewriting the heretics in me 2 has an effect on how hard this persuasion check is. may i ask what you did with the heretics in me 2? also, would you happen to remember how many bars you had? :) id really like to get this ^^
I am unbelievably close to 4 bars of rep but I can't find anymore side missions on citadel and the ones I already have I can't do because I can't go to the required planet/system. Where can I get more rep? Also, if I didn't import my m e 2 character are the quarians already sold to Cerberus?
This is the saddest moment ever.
The ending may have been controversial., but it is moments like this that make me want to replay the story. This and curing the genophage are (in my opinion of course) are the best scenes of mass effect 3. In mass effect one my favorite scene was resolving wrex's situation on virmire.
if only the ending was as epic as this
I started crying once legion died. Peace came, we ended a conflict going on for hundreds of years. Legion was the first to gain true self actualization, and it sacrificed itself so that its kind could finally live in peace with its creators.
@DonsGamingEnterprise Sorry For Asking But In Your Mass Effect 3 Quarian and Geth Peace What Do You Mean With Do the reaper base mission last and Can i get peace with the geth and quarians if i only play me3?
thx for reading this
@OutTheRoad12 That's not the only requirement. There are a lot of variables that are required to get this ending; mere Reputation isn't enough.
Does it matter if i destroy the squadron first and then save admiral? I got full paragon bar and saved the admiral before the reaper base.
i love vigils theme music. next time i get some money im buying it on the itunes store
@Butmunch666 I did paragon mostly. I have little renegade points but I have at least four bars of reputation. Idk if I did the mission where I get Tali's exile taken away but I know the I rewrote the history of the heretics with legion. I guess I'll do ME2 again and then continue to mass effect 3. Thanks for the help
well..he went out for a noble cause..
@Derinfrekans To clarify...Yes, Legion dies in every ending. But in this ending, the good one, he basically becomes robot jesus.
..i did everything i cant get the option...argh..do we need an ME2 save file to reach this point? or can we just play from new game ME3 file, cos my ME2 save file was so messed up in suicide mission and i dont want to import it...
It's also the hardest one to be able to do. Finally unlocked this option today. Need to meet a lot of requirements in ME2 and ME3.
Imagine if Shepard starting talking to the Reaper and it just unloaded it’s laser on them
and one more question...if you are import ME2 character at ME3 do you play on history mode with the prothean???
ok i did all those what you said above but I still didn't get the blue or red choices in the dialog. I rewrote the geth history but I don't know if I got tali's exiled status removed in ME2. I have at least four bars of rep. WTF am I doing wrong?
When you say high reputation, do you mean high renegade or paragon or can I have both? as in three bars of renegade and the rest as paragon.
