      Legion would even be proud of Shepard for taking the destroy option... It means not taking the old machine's offer of a prebuilt and forced future. Synthesis is forced on the galaxy, it's not offered as a choice to everyone else. Control is also against Legion's ethics. Rejection would arguably also be approved of by Legion.
      Of course, you could argue Legion would change his opinion on Synthesis, given he'd have "more data" for concensus.

      They were meant to house as many programs as Legion's body, plus facilitate the hardware for longer range networking of a local group. In a much more mobile platform than a hub. With the addition of their capacity for weapons and/or other heavy dury labour requirements. While destroyers are just meant to be heavier platforms with capacity for stronger infantry weaponry.

    • @GrasshopperKelly
      @GrasshopperKelly Před rokem +38

      Ignoring game balance. On a lore and practical level. Primes are mobile networking hubs. That's their primary purpose. They're not even intended as assault troops. But their design and purpose, meaning they're built to protect their purpose; meandered *can* survive frontline service.
      Geth also cannot print programs, even when they were under reaper control. Those take a little time to create. They always changed some lines of code, even if they were copying and pasting a combat program.
      It's just not efficient. The galaxy saw them as the most capable infantry and marine force in the galaxy, outside of biotics. Due to their nature, primes dramatically improve the combat efficiency of other geth platforms around them. Hundreds of Primes, or fitting every platform with space for so many programs, plus protection for all the internal equipment still leaves you with a near 3m tall monster. Why not spread those hundreds of programs across hundreds of platforms. It's not even a case of quantity will be better, the quality will still be similar. Giving everything a heavy missile weapon also isn't smart for a ship dwelling marine force... Rifles are cheap and kill just fine, they can be supplied easily. Otherwise the USArmy would be handing every infantryman a LAW.
      Why don't people buy 200 horse power 5 door saloons and estates? Not everyone needs one... An additional reason for the geth. They already had tends of thousands of platforms, originally made by the creators why tear those down when they Park perfectly fine and serve their usage as is?
      On a game balance perspective, yes. It would make the game dramatically more difficult if you faced more primes with destroyers and rocket troopers, even at the cost of halving the number we saw or even less. But it would be far more bland and get old and/or boring.

      I'm giving the Happy Ending mod a try for my current run. I'm only in ME2 at the moment, but... hey! We'll see how it goes.
      Ideally, I'd love a Refusal ending where it's possible to win the straight up fight, but I get that that's just not possible from an in-universe perspective. It took all of Earth's fleets *combined* to take out Sovereign, and the entire Quarian Flotilla, with a man-on-the-ground coordinating to take out a single Reaper Destroyer (aka one of the SMALL ones). There are *thousands* of Sovereign-class Reapers.

      I mean... once you stop taking the devs' word as law, you're really just playing your *own* story and borrowing their world as the backdrop, so... you do you, I guess. I was never fond of it, for a number of reasons.
      Not the least of which is... if the entire ending is a dream, and Shepard is actually lying there on the ground and never made it to the beam... I guess Team Milky Way loses the war and the Reapers win anyway even with the Red Ending, because *no one made it to the Citadel to activate the Crucible.* Shepard fighting off Indoctrination successfully doesn't win the war.
      Unless your idea is that Shepard then gets up, and goes to the Beam... at which point... what, the exact same thing plays out, just without Anderson/TIM/Starchild? I don't buy it, and I never have. As far as I can see, Indoctrination Theory is a lose/lose scenario for the Galaxy.

    • @Quole1234

      I never understood the people that believe in the indoctrination theory. Even if you ignore the fact that that the prothean vi can detect indoctrination and never does with shepard, or the fact that the devs straight up said it isn't true.... the real issue is that the IT is not a real ending. Let's assume it's true and shepard really was indoctrinated.... ok, now what? That doesn't resolve the conflict now does it? The plot is still ongoing and shepard is still fighting the reapers in the end, right? That's somehow even worse than the horrible ending we got, because there would be NO resolution to the plot lol.

      @@Blazieth I see it differently
      I don't see the ending phase as thing that's happening in Shepard's head. For me it's like a daydream. Reapers are trying to get Shepard in real time as you go there into the beam trying to activate the weapon (red ending) in reality nothings there since only shepard got into the beam. All the characters are just illusions created by Shepard as a mean to resist the indoctrination. At the final end reapers try to convince you that other options are better than destruction (just like they did with TIM and Saren). To resist and destroy them you have to pick the red one. I think that makes much more sense than a complete dream theory for the reasons that you stated before. At the end of the day nothings canon since the edning is so shit so I choose fan made endings that make the most sense.

      Sometimes to destroy the reapers a hefty price must be paid. Sometimes as a leader all you have are bad options, and the reapers try to take advantage of this. Which is why I will always chose the destroy ending. Yes it's genocide and the citadel and the relays will be severely damaged and may take a century to rebuild and repair, but out of all the species, AI can be rebuilt, organics cannot. It's a price worth paying. I think even if EDI and the Geth were right there with commander shepard, they would chose the destroy option. They decided they would rather die than compromise with the reapers again.
