jason daniel barry This ending would totally fuck up continuing the game play over to mass effect 3. Imagine playing the third game without Garrus, Grunt, Jack, Thane, Miranda or Jacob. My very first play through, starting from the first game. I couldn't save Wrex, so in the second and third games. He wasn't there, and I saw the outcome of Wrex not being there, and I didn't like it. Another play through, Jack gave her life getting the crew back to the ship. So in the third game, she wasn't at the school with those kids. I can't imagine what the game would be like, if all the characters were gone.

You can get an importable one where everyone essentially dies (kinda). Just make sure Zaeed and Morinth are there at the end (you'll have to kill Samara during her loyalty mission to have Morinth). Zaeed is killable after the suicide mission, during his loyalty mission, by choosing to take a detour to minimise casualties and then coldly leaving him to die when he argues with you about it and gets stuck. Morinth does survive into ME3 but... well, you don't exactly catch up over drinks. It's more-or-less like she dies.
It could've been cool if after this you start ME3 using Shepard's clone. You know... the one from Citadel DLC and the setting be like The Elusive Man waking him up and put him to the task of saving humanity (or Ceberus more likely)
@@Dark_3333 While loyalty is the term they use for convenience, the better description is being focused on the mission - with other things on their mind, squadmates are more likely not to pay attention and concentrate on the things they need to do to stay alive, therefore making dumb mistakes that'll get them killed.
It's kind of cool how there's actually two different suicide endings, since TIM and Joker have different follow ups, depending on which kinda bomb Shep left in the base.
Having non loyal people really hurts the door defence.. My first time through I lost Kasumi accidently sent her as leader. But the only one not loyal to me was Legion. and I took Garrus and Grunt with me to fight the boss and Legion was the only one to die out of the door defence leaving all the weaker people alive such as Tali, Mordin, and Miranda.
Honestly, it's a lot easier not to lose anyone than it is to lose someone on the so called 'suicide mission' x) Even if i had no idea loyalty was gonna keep them alive, i wanted to see the story for every team member, and upgrading your ship? who doesn't do that.. Need a leader for the fire team? probably someone with experience and leadership skills. Infiltrator? someone sneaky with tech skill. Intense biotics required? Strong biotic.. It's just the bare minimum of common sense..

I thought about sending Mordin back with them but fuck it, I'm renegade and the mission is more important. Zaeed died because I choose him to hold the line, I guess I didn't listen to his stories about being the only survivor and everyone around him dying. Then Mordin died in the final stand.

From what i understand i was hardly alone, most of my friends got very similar results with maybe 1-2 deaths max as exceptions. From what i read, it also matters who you put in the squad for the last stand, with more 'beefy' squad members having a much better chance to survive.
Everything was great until it was time to fight the baby reaper: then I chose Garrus and Grunt to accompany me, thinking that if I didn't Shepard would die... ...and I ended up losing Mordin and Tali :-(
First time I played this game I played through the game being completely oblivious to the fact that you are supposed to do loyalty missions and upgrade the Normandy. Hell, I even forgot to wake up grunt and activate legion. I did not have the dlc for kasumi or Zaeed so I was short a lot. To say the least I ended up dying spectacularly.
it is logical since they have no more personal issues so they can focus 100% on the mission (i.e. Grunt not having clan or Samara still hunting for Morinth)
Characters in ME2 are all professionals or survivalists, you know what the difference between pro and amateur? Pros can put aside all of their personal issues and 100% focus on job. Besides, in ME2 it doesnt feel like you earn somebodys loyalty, you feel like a psychologist who helps people with their daddy issues. For example: How can Legion be "Loyal" and how can his "Loyalty" affect his performance? He is a machine after all.
I tried this once and Grunt fucking lived and you know fucking what, he lives in Mass Effect 3 as well and I am like,How the fuck are you alive?! the chances if him living without loyalty in both games should be low but he lived! He fucking pure Kogan!
The true trick is to get everyone killed *except* those who you can get killed in Mass Effect 3 and then get everyone killed *except* a depressed Javik and Joker. Thusly, the true worst ending is Joker alone and stranded on a barren planet after Javik shoots himself.
I didn't realize you could actually watch one of your squad mates die in door defense at 4:13. I wonder if I would've been able to watch one of Miranda and Samara's deaths the first time I played.
For Shepard to live, you might only need your 2nd squad mate to survive the final boss. Basically, whoever takes zaeed’s position in the cutscene after the final boss needs to live in order for Shepard to live. Only a theory though.
What is even more challenging is making it through the base game with Shepard alive, no Normandy upgrades and no loyalty. You have to do everything in your power to keep Garrus and Grunt out of danger, and leave them as rear guard. If you use the fact that Miranda doesn't day as team leader for the long walk, even though she is not loyal, you can save one other team member of your choice. This will enable Shepard to survive with a team that has taken the kind of casualties a suicide mission would entail. That being said, this is not for everyone, and I have not currently tested it myself, but it is great for PTSD Colonist/Sole Survivor Shepards who get to watch almost everyone they care for die.
Never have a conversation in the ship with any of your squadmates... I'm not speaking from experience but that should do the trick because if you dont talk to them they'll never give you loyalty missions
At my first try I lost the crew and Miranda(left her to hold the door). Is it because I sent grunt with chackwas while he should have defended the door?
It's a pity they never went with this for an alternative version of the ending. What I was hoping was that they'd eventually release a DLC abridged variant of the ME3 main storyline, but with the Virmire Survivor having been promoted to Spectre status and having to fill in the enormous shoes left by Shephard. Give them an alternative story route where they would face severe trouble getting any kind of assistance from the galaxy as a whole due to the lack of connections that Shephard fostered through his efforts and reputation (e.g. the Turians completely stone-walling the Alliance and preferring to focus efforts on their homeworld, the Quarian mission ending with Quarian annihilation and the freed Geth retreating to the Perseus Veil to prepare to flee the Milky Way Galaxy itself since the Legion A.I won't trust in Humanities chances to win), then have them face a variant of the low EMS ending wherein they fail to make it to the crucible and die during the end game mission with the Liara message ending. Make it a lesson for those who got this ending, that if Shephard really did die at any point, then the very galaxy itself is lost without it's champion to hold the frail alliance between worlds together.
@MayorBoom somebody else would have either survived the door defense section or your game glitched, the game requires at least 2 people to be alive because if you want to continue playing the game post-suicide mission you need to have two squad members available for missions
Either ignore or sell Legion to Cerberus for money, and you can get Thane killed in the Engine room and Garrus killed by the I-Beam. With enough messing around with recruiting people and using particular combo's in the fight, you can get massively different results on who dies to the Engine Room or Shield failure. Jack will ALWAYS be the death by the Armour failure though, she's unavoidable to recruit and there's no way to change who is there. The game forces you to recruit Jack, Garrus, Mordin and Grunt. Alongside these four, you must get a minimum further two from what is left of the available crew members (not including Legion, but including DLC). Legion also gets added after the last two, but you can cart him off the ship if you wish. Engine Room possible deaths (in priority order): Kasumi, Legion, Tali, Thane, Garrus, Zaeed, Grunt Shield Failure possible deaths (in priority order) Thane, Garrus, Zaeed, Grunt, Jack, Samara/Morinth
Even if Miriana is loyal, she will fail in biotics..because she's weaker to escort, and never send someone to escort the crew members or elese everyone dies ending will not happen...You'll have someone to pull you up in the ship.
It was actually really easy on who to choose for what roles. For the vents I chose Kasumi, Squad leaders were Miranda first then Garrus, Biotic holding up the shield would obviously be Jack since she is the best Biotic on the squad, to protect the crew I sent Grunt, and I brought Kasumi and Tali for the final boss fight.
Step 1 make garrus the tech expert Step 2 make a toaster as the second team leader Step 3 make the biotic specilisst a non loyal biotic Step 4 make jacob go through the vent Step 5 make the alternate squad leader another toaster with a bomb attached to it
But you can send someone with the crew and if (s)he is not loyal, all of them will die. BUT if I recall correctly, Jacob, Jack and Grunt will sacrifice themselves to make sure the crew gets to the Normandy
I've double checked, and the only way for the crew to die is to not send anyone back. If you send a squadmate, and they're not loyal, they die but the crew makes it.

First time I played this game I played through the game being completely oblivious to the fact that you are supposed to do loyalty missions and upgrade the Normandy. Hell, I even forgot to wake up grunt and activate legion. I did not have the dlc for kasumi or Zaeed so I was short a lot. To say the least I ended up dying spectacularly.

it is logical since they have no more personal issues so they can focus 100% on the mission (i.e. Grunt not having clan or Samara still hunting for Morinth)
And besides, as Admiral Hackett said, you can pay your soldiers to fight for you, but you can't pay them to *believe*.
Characters in ME2 are all professionals or survivalists, you know what the difference between pro and amateur? Pros can put aside all of their personal issues and 100% focus on job. Besides, in ME2 it doesnt feel like you earn somebodys loyalty, you feel like a psychologist who helps people with their daddy issues.
For example: How can Legion be "Loyal" and how can his "Loyalty" affect his performance? He is a machine after all.

Instead of 40 hours of ME 2, you can do this in 5 minutes of Genesis 2 in ME 3.

In a way this is the good ending because then Mass effect 3 never happens
The true trick is to get everyone killed *except* those who you can get killed in Mass Effect 3 and then get everyone killed *except* a depressed Javik and Joker. Thusly, the true worst ending is Joker alone and stranded on a barren planet after Javik shoots himself.
I didn't realize you could actually watch one of your squad mates die in door defense at 4:13. I wonder if I would've been able to watch one of Miranda and Samara's deaths the first time I played.
The Joker part is the saddest, even tho the whole video broke my heart.

For Shepard to live, you might only need your 2nd squad mate to survive the final boss. Basically, whoever takes zaeed’s position in the cutscene after the final boss needs to live in order for Shepard to live. Only a theory though.
What is even more challenging is making it through the base game with Shepard alive, no Normandy upgrades and no loyalty. You have to do everything in your power to keep Garrus and Grunt out of danger, and leave them as rear guard. If you use the fact that Miranda doesn't day as team leader for the long walk, even though she is not loyal, you can save one other team member of your choice. This will enable Shepard to survive with a team that has taken the kind of casualties a suicide mission would entail. That being said, this is not for everyone, and I have not currently tested it myself, but it is great for PTSD Colonist/Sole Survivor Shepards who get to watch almost everyone they care for die.
Incompetent Shepards have no place being controlled by me. They get replaced by biotic volus.

Never have a conversation in the ship with any of your squadmates... I'm not speaking from experience but that should do the trick because if you dont talk to them they'll never give you loyalty missions

At my first try I lost the crew and Miranda(left her to hold the door). Is it because I sent grunt with chackwas while he should have defended the door?

It's a pity they never went with this for an alternative version of the ending. What I was hoping was that they'd eventually release a DLC abridged variant of the ME3 main storyline, but with the Virmire Survivor having been promoted to Spectre status and having to fill in the enormous shoes left by Shephard. Give them an alternative story route where they would face severe trouble getting any kind of assistance from the galaxy as a whole due to the lack of connections that Shephard fostered through his efforts and reputation (e.g. the Turians completely stone-walling the Alliance and preferring to focus efforts on their homeworld, the Quarian mission ending with Quarian annihilation and the freed Geth retreating to the Perseus Veil to prepare to flee the Milky Way Galaxy itself since the Legion A.I won't trust in Humanities chances to win), then have them face a variant of the low EMS ending wherein they fail to make it to the crucible and die during the end game mission with the Liara message ending.
Make it a lesson for those who got this ending, that if Shephard really did die at any point, then the very galaxy itself is lost without it's champion to hold the frail alliance between worlds together.
@MayorBoom somebody else would have either survived the door defense section or your game glitched, the game requires at least 2 people to be alive because if you want to continue playing the game post-suicide mission you need to have two squad members available for missions

Either ignore or sell Legion to Cerberus for money, and you can get Thane killed in the Engine room and Garrus killed by the I-Beam. With enough messing around with recruiting people and using particular combo's in the fight, you can get massively different results on who dies to the Engine Room or Shield failure. Jack will ALWAYS be the death by the Armour failure though, she's unavoidable to recruit and there's no way to change who is there.
The game forces you to recruit Jack, Garrus, Mordin and Grunt. Alongside these four, you must get a minimum further two from what is left of the available crew members (not including Legion, but including DLC). Legion also gets added after the last two, but you can cart him off the ship if you wish.
Engine Room possible deaths (in priority order):
Kasumi, Legion, Tali, Thane, Garrus, Zaeed, Grunt
Shield Failure possible deaths (in priority order)
Thane, Garrus, Zaeed, Grunt, Jack, Samara/Morinth

Even if Miriana is loyal, she will fail in biotics..because she's weaker to escort, and never send someone to escort the crew members or elese everyone dies ending will not happen...You'll have someone to pull you up in the ship.
also reaper human part was not so hard but all my squad members are loyal so lol
It is 2021 and ME: Legendary Edition had released and I WANT to get this ending but I simply CANNOT pull myself to do this ending 🥲
It was actually really easy on who to choose for what roles. For the vents I chose Kasumi, Squad leaders were Miranda first then Garrus, Biotic holding up the shield would obviously be Jack since she is the best Biotic on the squad, to protect the crew I sent Grunt, and I brought Kasumi and Tali for the final boss fight.
I sent legion in the vents, it turned pretty good.
Then Samara for the shield because... asari Justicar.
Step 1 make garrus the tech expert
Step 2 make a toaster as the second team leader
Step 3 make the biotic specilisst a non loyal biotic
Step 4 make jacob go through the vent
Step 5 make the alternate squad leader another toaster with a bomb attached to it
But you can send someone with the crew and if (s)he is not loyal, all of them will die. BUT if I recall correctly, Jacob, Jack and Grunt will sacrifice themselves to make sure the crew gets to the Normandy

I've double checked, and the only way for the crew to die is to not send anyone back. If you send a squadmate, and they're not loyal, they die but the crew makes it.

@@SnipermanElite Its not hard. Basically all you gotta do is to rush the game and do main quests, no dlcs, and then suicide mission and pick them all wrong because you also skipped all dialogue and didnt pay attention,so you wont know who is good to do what
