Then showing Shepard's funeral and mentioning Anderson could seal the trilogy. Shepard gave her/his life and that's it. There was no need for the "playing god" nonsense from whoever with god complex designed. You can't complete a story with multiple endings. It starts from a single point, you can have variations/different choices along the way that creates different plots, but a story ends only in one way with those plots converging at the end. Otherwise it's a mess. So ending vs endings, I always support a singular coherent ending for a story.
Troy Carter I thought that too. It's a shame they couldn't do that so it wouldn't be a hassle to continue the mass effect series. I'm sure Andromeda will be fun but the two stories can never connect unless they choose one of the endings.

I'm kind of bummed that there are only two options in the initial dialogue - attempt to deny Legion's request (to which he responds with pleading for his life) or immediately try to broker peace. I wish there was a third option in which you could be more aggressive to the quarians instead. Something like _- Shepard, you can't choose the geth over my people!_ _- In fact, I can and I will. (Give me one reason not to.)_
One of the better writing bits in the series is that Legion starts referring to itself in singular instead of plural right before it sacrifices itself.
I like the way Legion seems to hesitate when he says "I'm sorry". As if he just realises that he referred to himself as "I" instead of "we" for the first time, meaning he truly gained sentience.
I don't get why people would just skip ME1 and ME2 and just jump right into ME3. Like you miss so much lore and story, not to mention the characters. Plus you won't understand any of the references and/or character cameos. Also the fact that skipping games in a story driven video game series where your previous choices count is just plain stupid.
Sure, but By playing ME3 i wouldn't have played the others and become a huge fan that i am now, with hundreds of hours logged on all 3 games and DLC's. I saw the advertising for ME3 and was quite interested. If i hadn't of sinked my teeth into ME3 first i doubt i would ever get a chance to play the trilogy.

This is a story about bitter rivalries between different races that become less bitter in the face of the greatest threat ever known. Enemies become allies. Long lived differences being forgotten. Comradery, that's what Mass Effect is really about. Take the Rachni, for example. You can choose to execute the queen. Or, sympathize with her and let her and her children free. Save her you gain an ally in ME3. I mean yeah you can be a renegade and be an asshole all the time, but certain renegade options kind of break the story? If you play renegade start to finish, what kind of character IS Shepard and why would he give a flying fuck about the galaxy? Renegade Shepard seems more suited for mercenary work, like The Blue Suns. I do tend to play a mix of both though. Paragon when it makes sense or seems the right thing to do. Renegade for battle sequences and general assholes who dont deserve nice Shepard.

I am so proud of my trilogy paragon playthrough. ME1 - saved every one except Kaidan, chose Anderson for the council. ME2 - Got all the loyalty missions and character confrontation right. Got everyone alive at the last mission (second try) ME3 - Cured genophage, saved bith the quarians a d geth resulting in peace and even managed to get some salarian help although the council salarian gal bitched about it. Everybody came out alive except mordin and thane. And at the end destroyed the reapers and got out alive with approximately 8000 war points and 100 percent readiness. And my character looked awesome. All without having a single look online. I just got *every single thing* right.
I did EVERYTHING except for the geth server mission because it's glitching out and is impossible to do AT ALL. And no peace. I played through all of the previous games, did all loyalty missions, saved Tali from exile without exposing her dad, shut her and Legion up with mah paragon charisma, saved Admiral Koris and STILL NO FUCKING PEACE!
Honestly this right here would have been a great moment to reveal tali's face. Few seconds of looking out into the horizon of Rannoch before she slowly turns to Shep, tears running down her face as she says, "Right now, I have this." The whole Photo thing was a bigger disappointment thing than the endings.

When I watched The Expanse for the first time I immediately recognized Chrisjen Avasarala's voice but couldn't quite pinpoint where I've heard it before since I didn't recognize the actress. Well, after watching this Video I suddenly realized where I have heard it before and that Admiral Raan was actually voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Yesssssss, im in my first playthrough of this trilogy. Reaching this point i searched for a video of this choice, and i have everything except i let the geths live in mass effect 2. I was able to make peace hehehehe. What a relieve, this game makes my anxiety worse but i love it!
I just got to this part, but I couldn`t save both of them, since my Legion died in ME2. At the end of ME2, you have to choose someone for a mission, in which they'll probably die. They said it would involve hacking, so the logical choices were legion or Tali, but you can pick whoever you want. Its ironic that the logical choice screws you over in the long run.
Legion must not have been loyal then. He's actually one of the logical choices, between him, Tali and Kasumi Goto. If he died on that mission, he was not loyal.

@@totesMagotes83 Yes, that's his loyalty mission, but picking Destroy or Rewrite does not affect his loyalty, however after his loyalty mission, Tali and Legion fight and you must either use extremely high Paragon or Renegade to diffuse it completely and keep them both loyal, or pick one side and the other side goes disloyal. Maybe that's what happened.
@@Disturbance42 Ah, it's so long ago I don't remember that, but that's probably what happened. Back when I played ME3, I played both outcomes, then downloaded an ME3 save file hacker to bring legion back and redid the segment.
I always get a great laugh by doing the recruit Legion mission 1st and then doing Tali Trial mission next just to tick off the Quarians when I bring Legion on board their ship,always great for a laugh,too bad I can't capture footage from my game,since I don't think anyone has tried that and posted a video of it on CZcams,oh well maybe I can send someone my ME3 save,who knows.
Ah why do you get troubled by graphics after a few years later... back when I played mass effect I never even thought of it. The expectations will get higher and higher and it will get more and more difficult to meet them from the developer side...
I believe that when that Reaper speaks how they are "order" to organics "chaos", its a sliver of the original script, where the space faring races are causing the heat death of the universe by using mass effect technology, in other order, "chaos".
acturly, its done by points, you can have tali exiled, but you have to destroy the hieratics, as not having her exiled is 2 points, and destroy the hieratics is also 2 points

Every time I've gotten to this point in the game, I chose the geth because I was never too fond of the quarians. The mission where you are in a simulation being guided by legion made it worse, and now, I can't do it because I've lost one of my mass effect 3 discs.

I recently started the series about a month ago starting from 1 and am almost finished with 3. I went in not knowing got to play the games at all and managed to get almost everybody alive in me2 and a lot of companions died in 3 cuz I did some things wrong, including legion because I wasn’t able to do his loyalty mission in time before the suicide mission started
If I don't have enough renegade points or Paragon points to say either of those things to get pieced on between the two then what should I do choose the quarians or the geth?
Year late but you get points for decisions made in Mass Effect 2. You need a total of at least 5 points out of 7, and you need to do the Geth Fighter Squadron mission for Legion. You need to destroy the Heretics for full points, this gives you 2 (but you can rewrite them if you do everything else right) You need to make sure Tali isn’t exiled without showing the evidence at her trial, this gives you 1 You need to make peace between Tali and Legion after their loyalty missions, this also gives you 1 You need to save Admiral Koris in the mission on Rannoch, which I think can give 1 or 2 not quite sure. At least 5 points and Tali and Legion both alive and loyal, and you can save both the quarians and the geth, and make peace between the two.
No matter how many times I do this mission or watch it on CZcams, it gets pretty damn dusty in the room I'm sitting in around the time Legion realizes the error in simply copying the software code.
I was one of those people that ended up skipping the first two games. Not because I wanted to, but because a friend gifted me ME3 in a time where I didn't have pocket money for games. Kinda sucks that I missed out on a lot of options and choices, but I was pretty satisfied with how the story went despite having no prior knowledge to the game/lore (apart from that opening space battle cutscene in the final missions)

It's not a mistake. If you make it to where there's peace between the Geth and the quarians, the Geth lend a huge helping hand to the rebuilding of the Quarians homeworld. Not such a mistake then is it?
The real mistake was not creating AI, it how they reacted to making AI. Once you have a intelligent being. You can no longer use them as slave workers and you defiantly cannot try and kill it. This was their mistake, they tried to kill the geth. The geth never went out of their way to kill any quarians, they only fight to defend themselves. The Quarians should have started to give them equal rights, once they found out they had become a AI.

You have to - keep Tali and Legion alive, and they have to be loyal. Tali cannot be exiled from the fleet, and you have to destroy the Geth heretics in Legion's mission, not spare them. When Tali and Legion have their dispute, you have to use P Or R to settle things. You cannot choose sides. You need to do all the side quests in Rannoch before the finale, Specifically the one with Legion going into a cyberspace level. You need to have enough Paragon or renegade points to get the dialogue. (Note the dialogue wont pop up if you didn't do one of the first pre requisites.) This is a pretty Mass Effect 2 heavy outcome.

To get those choices in Mass Effect 3 Cause I did all but not spare the Geth Heretics, I even did the side quest before the finale. And can i stick with one of either paragon or renegade, or do I need to raise them both to even get one of them?
Yep. I've found the easiest way to do this is to have the DLC, as this gives you more chances to get P or R. Then save the Reaper IFF mission until everyone (except legion) is loyal. So you are effectively ready to do the final mission, dedicate to ONE SIDE of either Paragon or Renegade. Once you do the Reaper IFF mission and get legion, if you have done all the other loyalty missions and complete several side quests then Legions Loyalty missions should be available immediately. If you do this right before the Suicide Mission then it ensures you have had enough time to max out either Paragon or Renegade. Complete L's loyalty mission and solve their dispute. Yeah, this is the method I use...... And while that is an option, another thing you can do (if you are on PC) is download the Gibbed save editor and max out both your Paragon and Renegade so you can't fail the dialogue sections. WOW, okay that was long winded... but yeah this is a heavy side quest.

The story reason is that sparing the Heretics has the opposite of the desired affect in Mass Effect 3. The Heretics break away and join the Geth being controlled by the Reaper on Rannoch. So they are stronger, they can't coexist with the Quarians because that Reaper code still exists within them. Sooooo story story, bioware bioware, it's a weak reason why but that is what they give us on why the Heretics can't be spared in Me2.

I also have a full paragon bar, and have completed every other Rannoch mission, yet i can't seem to broker peace between geth & quarians? I don't even get the dialogue options to... someone help?
Full paragon bar as in, it's just paragon but not full? Or full paragon bar as in it's maxed out? In addition to all of the ME2 stuff and the Rannoch missions, you need to have at least 80% reputation. Also, if you rewrote the heretics then you MUST save Admiral Koris at the crash site.
This part always was bothering me. Legion has to upload his code and that will make him die. But it's just code,it can be copied with out touching the original.

It's nice there was an option to have a "good" ending for everyone, but when Shepherd has to make hard decisions the story has far greater impact, I think. I can't recall who said it, but at some point it was said that "Flowers for Algernon" had to end the way it did; if it would have ended with everything working out, its poignancy would have been lost. I think the same principle applies here.
I my opinion legion is never truly dead...he is an AI right....only is physical unit is gone ...somewhere in the geth collective there is a fragment of his code still present or alive if u will .
I didn’t know what to do in this situation, I was for the first time very nervous of my actions . I was on the quarian side , but felt for all geth. It was 60/40 . But I had made the right choices up until this point , mostly relieved now going forward 😅
For this fucked up reputation system I couldn't do it I had all of the right choices but I played both paragon and renegate. So I just coop with tali. tali backstapped legion and I shot it in the eye. (I'm mad but still love these games)
yeah talk to Veetor and the other guy u save on haestorm (both must survive) the are on the left side of the room talk to them once the first part of the trial commences, once the final part of the trial starts rally the crowd
you're both right the quarians were testing weapons on geth but if they are told the geth will attack the quarians both should stop fighting the war before all are destroyed thank you both tali and legion for helping miss Shepard bring peace to you all

The DLC's never effect the main story, so peace is possible without DLC.
To get any decent ending, you need to work hard in each game and with the greatest of empathy.

Yesssssss, im in my first playthrough of this trilogy. Reaching this point i searched for a video of this choice, and i have everything except i let the geths live in mass effect 2. I was able to make peace hehehehe. What a relieve, this game makes my anxiety worse but i love it!
So heartbreaking that we will likely never see another mass effect game, EA killed the series with Andromeda.

I just got to this part, but I couldn`t save both of them, since my Legion died in ME2.
At the end of ME2, you have to choose someone for a mission, in which they'll probably die. They said it would involve hacking, so the logical choices were legion or Tali, but you can pick whoever you want. Its ironic that the logical choice screws you over in the long run.
Legion must not have been loyal then. He's actually one of the logical choices, between him, Tali and Kasumi Goto. If he died on that mission, he was not loyal.
@@Disturbance42 I did every single 'loyalty mission' that I had a chance to do, didn't he have a mission where you had to decide whether to reprogram or destroy the bad Geth? I chose destroy, maybe that's why he wasn't 'loyal'.
@@totesMagotes83 Yes, that's his loyalty mission, but picking Destroy or Rewrite does not affect his loyalty, however after his loyalty mission, Tali and Legion fight and you must either use extremely high Paragon or Renegade to diffuse it completely and keep them both loyal, or pick one side and the other side goes disloyal. Maybe that's what happened.
@@Disturbance42 Ah, it's so long ago I don't remember that, but that's probably what happened. Back when I played ME3, I played both outcomes, then downloaded an ME3 save file hacker to bring legion back and redid the segment.

then doing Tali Trial mission next just to tick off the Quarians when I
bring Legion on board their ship,always great for a laugh,too bad I

Ah why do you get troubled by graphics after a few years later... back when I played mass effect I never even thought of it. The expectations will get higher and higher and it will get more and more difficult to meet them from the developer side...
in ME3 it doesnt matter how much renegade or paragon you have. You need to have the appropiate reputation to get blue or red answers.

I believe that when that Reaper speaks how they are "order" to organics "chaos", its a sliver of the original script, where the space faring races are causing the heat death of the universe by using mass effect technology, in other order, "chaos".
Spent so much time trying to get enough paragon to do this option, I had more than 60 percent paragon and that wasn't enough....

acturly, its done by points, you can have tali exiled, but you have to destroy the hieratics, as not having her exiled is 2 points, and destroy the hieratics is also 2 points
for anyone that wants to know, you can save legion at the end of ME2 you have to gain the loyal of everyone at the end of ME2 survies, but I don't know

no, if you have the loyalty on ME2 you can save him, but on ME3 I'm pretty sure he sacarfices him self to save the quariens and geth

Every time I've gotten to this point in the game, I chose the geth because I was never too fond of the quarians. The mission where you are in a simulation being guided by legion made it worse, and now, I can't do it because I've lost one of my mass effect 3 discs.
By it, I meant bringing peace to both races.

I was really late for this series. I just finished my first playthrough about a month ago. Luckily, my brother had the series because it's the best! If you have the chance to get it, by all means do so. :D

I recently started the series about a month ago starting from 1 and am almost finished with 3. I went in not knowing got to play the games at all and managed to get almost everybody alive in me2 and a lot of companions died in 3 cuz I did some things wrong, including legion because I wasn’t able to do his loyalty mission in time before the suicide mission started

Year late but you get points for decisions made in Mass Effect 2. You need a total of at least 5 points out of 7, and you need to do the Geth Fighter Squadron mission for Legion.
You need to destroy the Heretics for full points, this gives you 2 (but you can rewrite them if you do everything else right)
You need to make sure Tali isn’t exiled without showing the evidence at her trial, this gives you 1
You need to make peace between Tali and Legion after their loyalty missions, this also gives you 1
You need to save Admiral Koris in the mission on Rannoch, which I think can give 1 or 2 not quite sure.
At least 5 points and Tali and Legion both alive and loyal, and you can save both the quarians and the geth, and make peace between the two.
No matter how many times I do this mission or watch it on CZcams, it gets pretty damn dusty in the room I'm sitting in around the time Legion realizes the error in simply copying the software code.
I was one of those people that ended up skipping the first two games. Not because I wanted to, but because a friend gifted me ME3 in a time where I didn't have pocket money for games. Kinda sucks that I missed out on a lot of options and choices, but I was pretty satisfied with how the story went despite having no prior knowledge to the game/lore (apart from that opening space battle cutscene in the final missions)

I hate the part where it doesn't matter what you choose... Legion will always died. If he transfer into new body unit. I can understand. But he sacrifice even his own individual code. Which means even in Geth's virtual network. Legion is gone...

-Tali has been exiled/You did not do the Loyalty Mission (0 points)
-Resolved Legion/Tali conflict either using the Paragon or Renegade options (+1 point)
-N7 Mission: Save the Admiral on Rannoch in ME3 (+1 point)
-N7 Mission: Destroy Geth Squadron on Rannoch in ME3 (+1 point)

It's not a mistake. If you make it to where there's peace between the Geth and the quarians, the Geth lend a huge helping hand to the rebuilding of the Quarians homeworld. Not such a mistake then is it?
The real mistake was not creating AI, it how they reacted to making AI. Once you have a intelligent being. You can no longer use them as slave workers and you defiantly cannot try and kill it.
This was their mistake, they tried to kill the geth.
The geth never went out of their way to kill any quarians, they only fight to defend themselves.
The Quarians should have started to give them equal rights, once they found out they had become a AI.
This only shows Shepard doing it, not how to do it. You need to be paragon, shut down server and save the admiral. Otherwise no option of peace.

You have to -
keep Tali and Legion alive, and they have to be loyal. Tali cannot be exiled from the fleet, and you have to destroy the Geth heretics in Legion's mission, not spare them. When Tali and Legion have their dispute, you have to use P Or R to settle things. You cannot choose sides.
You need to do all the side quests in Rannoch before the finale, Specifically the one with Legion going into a cyberspace level.
You need to have enough Paragon or renegade points to get the dialogue. (Note the dialogue wont pop up if you didn't do one of the first pre requisites.)

Yep.
I've found the easiest way to do this is to have the DLC, as this gives you more chances to get P or R. Then save the Reaper IFF mission until everyone (except legion) is loyal. So you are effectively ready to do the final mission, dedicate to ONE SIDE of either Paragon or Renegade.
Once you do the Reaper IFF mission and get legion, if you have done all the other loyalty missions and complete several side quests then Legions Loyalty missions should be available immediately. If you do this right before the Suicide Mission then it ensures you have had enough time to max out either Paragon or Renegade. Complete L's loyalty mission and solve their dispute.
Yeah, this is the method I use...... And while that is an option, another thing you can do (if you are on PC) is download the Gibbed save editor and max out both your Paragon and Renegade so you can't fail the dialogue sections.
WOW, okay that was long winded... but yeah this is a heavy side quest.

That's the weird part though, I did legions loyalty mission, and I spared the geth, so I'm supposed to just let them die and not have Legion loyal to me? ANd I'm playing it on Xbox.(Xbox one now that it's ported there)
The story reason is that sparing the Heretics has the opposite of the desired affect in Mass Effect 3. The Heretics break away and join the Geth being controlled by the Reaper on Rannoch. So they are stronger, they can't coexist with the Quarians because that Reaper code still exists within them.
Sooooo story story, bioware bioware, it's a weak reason why but that is what they give us on why the Heretics can't be spared in Me2.

I also have a full paragon bar, and have completed every other Rannoch mission, yet i can't seem to broker peace between geth & quarians? I don't even get the dialogue options to...

Full paragon bar as in, it's just paragon but not full? Or full paragon bar as in it's maxed out? In addition to all of the ME2 stuff and the Rannoch missions, you need to have at least 80% reputation. Also, if you rewrote the heretics then you MUST save Admiral Koris at the crash site.

-Have 4 reputation bar
-Save Koris
-Have imported a save with :
Tali alive
Legion Alive
Tali's loyalty quest (Tali not exiled)
Legion loyalty (Doesn't care if reewriten or destroyed)
Tali-Legion fight stopped with reputation
And certain people say that other things can change, like punching Han'Gerrel or accomplish Geth fighter mission

It's nice there was an option to have a "good" ending for everyone, but when Shepherd has to make hard decisions the story has far greater impact, I think. I can't recall who said it, but at some point it was said that "Flowers for Algernon" had to end the way it did; if it would have ended with everything working out, its poignancy would have been lost. I think the same principle applies here.

I didn’t know what to do in this situation, I was for the first time very nervous of my actions . I was on the quarian side , but felt for all geth. It was 60/40 . But I had made the right choices up until this point , mostly relieved now going forward 😅

For this fucked up reputation system I couldn't do it I had all of the right choices but I played both paragon and renegate. So I just coop with tali. tali backstapped legion and I shot it in the eye. (I'm mad but still love these games)

Not a mod. It's honestly one of the more difficult things to do because there's a certain order. But, it's not impossible.
