A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ CZcams. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of CZcams I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on CZcams won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This CZcams channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different

I saw Disturbed at the House of Blues in Hollywood back in 2006. It was standing room only so I almost didn't go because I just had a cast removed from my leg after being in a wheelchair for 5 months. We called House of Blues and they told me that they would give me a free VIP upgrade so I could sit upstairs. There was this older woman sitting at the table next to mine. We were talking before the show started, and she kept offering me stuff from the band and crew table. I knew she was somehow associated with the band. When this song came on, I told her that I loved the intensity of this song. She laughed and said, "I always tell Davey that I hate when he sings this song when I visiting him while he is on tour."' "Wait did you just call David Dramain Davey?" Lol, she said "yes dear, Davey is my son. He knows we never beat him. We just didn't want him to be a musician."

I grew up in a lot of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. When I was in 6th grade the physical abuse slowed down a lot because my teacher seen bruises on my arms and when the guidance counselor took me into the office they found the bruises on my back and whelp marks on my legs. My mom never hit me but she was an alcoholic all of my life. Taking me to bars when I was little, getting drunk and forgetting me, leaving me at bars. My step mom and her family beat me and she made my dad beat me. There was always drugs involved on my dad's side of things. I never knew the bruises and marks on me where bad. I was in shock when the teacher and people at school made a big deal out of it. I thought I was in trouble and did something wrong. Nothing ever happened to My dad or step mom. I remember a person from dss came to our house but I was scared of being taken away so I told them I never got hit. My younger half brothers never really got hit. I never held a grudge and have forgiven everyone that hurt me as a kid. Besides all the abuse I had a decent childhood. Always had nice clothes and toys and whatever. I just tried to stay outside and out of site as much as possible.

The name Disturbed actually comes from the way society views creative people. When someone does something unique and it makes others feel strange or uncomfortable, they call that person disturbed or sick. The sickness is individuality that society beats out of people. This is basically a song telling us different people to all band together, enjoy a great song at a show, let the feelings wash over us, and stand together against everyone who wants us to stop having fun and live by their rules. Disturbed is a very empowering band.

After my divorce from my first wife, she fled abroad with my first two kids when they were very young. I didn't see them for 8 years. Then, at a time that I was arranging a UK tour for an American rock band, I got an email from someone, saying they had seen my email address on the band's web site and he said "I think you're my dad". Now, I'm very close to both of my children, but they had been brought up with no music except some hip hop. My son said he hated rock and metal because it was "devil's music". It took a while, but now they both listen to a wide range of music, as I do, even my daughter, who is an ultra strict Muslim woman.

Metal is very primal- it is an unleashing of the soul in ways that other genres don't encapsulate then release as ferociously. This is why I have always loved metal, since I was first exposed to KISS when Detroit Rock City first came out (I was 10, I think). I grew up listening primarily to folk, jazz, blues and classical- with some polka and ragtime thrown in by my maternal grandmother, so discovering a genre that allowed me to express the more negative, destructive emotions safely and yet still artistically was what had been lacking in my musical influences. I'm 55 now, and I still listen primarily to metal and classical- a complete dichotomy of sound, emotion and artistry, but they truly soothe my soul.

  • @Badgerman494

Metal music is a type of music that people who are abused, bullied, and damaged gravitate towards. I think it is because often Metal music deals with subjects many other genres don't or won't, and we very much identify with the subject matter, the pain, and the suffering that comes with it. But metal music, instead of encouraging us to dwell on the pain, and to internalise it, it acts as a form of relief, letting us get rid of the pain we've been storing up inside us.
Metal is very much a style of music that encourages freedom, both a freedom of expression, and a freedom from those things that hold us back. I was never abused, but I was bullied badly, extremely badly, I've come to terms with it now, and it is not an exaggeration to say Metal music was very much a part of that recovery.

The fun thing with metal music is that it has so many sub genres and it can mix and co-exist with any other style. There are metal songs together with classical music, with rap music, with pop music and at all time times metal remains metal. It can be sad, it can be longing, it can be angry, emotional from wall to wall. It has no boundaries and that's why it can find always something familiar in anyone, everyone. And thus I can only recommend to look into metal music, different groups, different songs and you and everyone can be surprised in a fun and pleasant way.
