(1463) Review: Lishi KW1 2-in-1 Pick & Decoder
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 15. 03. 2019
- Video 1463 is PROOF that it is time to replace that old Kwikset KW1 lockset! The new Lishi KW1 2-in-1 Pick & decoder allows an UNSKILLED user to quickly pick open Kwiksets, even if the lock contains security pins. These tools represent a clear and present danger to anyone depending on a Kwikset lock for their security.

"This should be regulated"
"I'm givin it away!"
That would make him a straw buyer!
My thoughts exactly. Way to be a responsible locksmith.
@MegaSkilla and soon the copies on DH gate....
@@Magicspirit11 can't wait for a $30 version on DH GATE
@@stoneridgezutt5088 đđ Chinese copying their own products... Gotta love it.
Maybe we should regulate locks instead of lock picks... After all it's the locks that are the problem.
^ This!
Maybe we should regulate criminals. After all it's criminals that are the problem, not the locks or the picks.
@@notahotshot I am pretty sure that if we regulate people, the problem will solve itself.
If there is a way to open anything there is a way to pick/bypass it
They do regulate the high security locks
I met Mr Li, in Manchester England at a Locksmith show. However he couldn't get his interpreter into the UK. Even members of the local Chinese community couldn't understand his heavily accented language. However his picking techniques said a thousand words.
In the UK there is absolutely no regulation on tools. However in Ireland, Locksmithing is completely regulated. Go figure.
Which part of China is he from? He might speak a regional dialect (although they're all supposed to be able to speak Mandarin now).
Hi Ian do Lishi work on UK locks
I use the 2 in 1 and 3 in 1 car picks every day, I make the mechanical keys once picked, then program the transponder/remote/smart after that. I recently make a key for a vehicle on the Airside of Manchester Airport..... Security there is amazing, beats Military, Prison etc. It took 2 hours to get through security, 15 mins to make a full remote key for the vehicle and 20 seconds to leave......
Hope you overcharged them for every second of it.
I love every video you make bill. I watched you a year ago and ended up buying a set and finding you again. You set a seed
It looks easy in your hands, but you are a very talented lock picker. Great review of a cool tool!
It is easy. The Lishi tools make it very simple. The grid shows you exactly where the pin chambers are for a particular lock and the depths. Hence the decode ability.
I think that's the scary part about this tool... even in unskilled hands it is really easy to use. That was the reason for my comment at the end about registration.
Great video, you have the best lockpick videos on youtube. Great lighting, narration and setup.
Very usefull for locksmiths but to control this is what we were told in 1970 and 1980 about normal lock picks . If you need a differant one for every keyway thats alot of tools a criminal would need to purchase . And selected locks is not a criminals first thought its a hammer screwdriver or bolt cropper . .locks arnt picked in 98% of crime cases bill . We have been fighting the establishment for over three centuerys for people today to have a sport or hobby in picking . Most criminals cant be bothered to learn to pick good locks
Yes but in the US a Kwikset and Schlage gets you in almost every home or business.
Magic in Australia, 99% of locks are Lockwood or use their keyway
Its just made kw1 and the others . They will now need to start updating there locks .if you ask me its should improve the locks keyways and here design . And if a country only has one type of lock in this day and age its sad as can get n line relitivly easy . My front door is a medico . There not too expencive for piece of mind . And abloy padlocks on everything else .
@@the_eminent_Joshua_E_Hrouda I am aware of that and thats what I mean; a couple of decoders will open the majority of locks. I guess even more in Australia ;)
Wrong there are a select few however they are few and far between thank god. PS hope I didn't come across disrespectful đ
Great tool. Makes cutting a key so simple
I wasn't expecting it when I first heard, Lishi 2-in-1 pin tumbler picks coming out for; KW1, SC1, SC4 . Mixed emotions. Sounds practical on one hand, and on the other I just don't know. Able to pick and decode a lock without tearing it apart... But also, being able to pick and decode a lock... without breaking it down and tearing it apart. ---- It's neat, I will give it that. I'm actually surprised that it didn't come sooner. I kind of want a set in my bag, just because... They could be useful in the right circumstances.
It helps me alot when I'm helping customers unlock they're house door and the numbers help me decode alot easier
just bought one i am getting into locksmithing thanks to you and lock picking lawer
That thing really visualizes what is going on when you pick a lock (springy, binding, etc.) - would be nice for some of the other locks as well
I got mine ordered. They had really strict Authorization to purchase standards for new accounts.
I spilled my guts and it's shipping pronto.
I can't wait for Schlage - It's supposed to be out soon.
I kind of have the inside scoop, I was talking to my contact... A brief history, I'm a long-term Locksmith, and was one of the 1st in this country to have one of these picks. The 5 and 6 pin Schlage, and 6 pin Kwikset should be out by mid-April. Having said that, I was told a Kwikset Smart Key pick is coming out, (I only know that, he didn't elaborate) and some sort of Yale Y1 keyway is coming down the pipe.
There's a big problem though, we can ask for all the picks in the world, and I'M VERY EXCITED that these pin-tumbler picks are coming out! But they're nearing production capacity, so chances of a Medeco pick coming out.... Not likely Bill. Personally, I'd like to see Corbin/Russwin, Sargent, among others.. It's kick-ass, and heartbreaking all at the same time.
Loved this video when it came out 4 years ago! We miss you bill!! â€
I think the point of that circular cutout is so you can put the handle in it so it doesn't flop about.
I am another Lishi owner. The handle won't travel that far into the pick. If you take a look at the tip of the blade (key portion), there is a solid stop to prevent the more delicate pick from over-extending into the keyway. This protects the pick, which can be easily damaged if mistreated. Some Lishi models are prone to getting hung up on the slots cut into the blade if the pick gets even slightly bent.
@@_0x00 Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification. It looked like that would be the thinking behind it. Missed opportunity.
I agree, it would be a great feature. Good idea!
No the point of the hole is for flex. Notice the slot going down the tensioner. They likely pry it apart a bit and clip it on the circle part.
If the hole would be for that , the pick tip would be way front of the key tip .
That tensioning part should be a bit longer and the hole behind the company logo , then it could work .
I love your channel, work and skills!
I have KW1, KW5, SC1 and buying another today. These tools are absolutely amazing.
Awesome tool. Thanks Bill. Love your videos.
Lishi just cracks me up with these things!
Wow! Such a cool tool! So simple to use.. crazy!
Great review Bill. Might try making one myself.
Thatâs a really nice tool, and great demonstration!
audio was really good in this ep! good job man.
He fixed it a while back. But I watched some early vids of his recently and the feedback was bad in them. Funny how nobody noticed it until last year. Makes me think YT had done something to the sound in the stored vids.
Love your shows, learn lots of new technology
Thanks for the show and tell Bill. Once they make one for SmartKey that works I'll buy several.
Awesome tool! I would love to have it in my tool kit
Great demo and that looks like a well made tool !
Nice picking tool. Looks delicate.
Your Amazing Bill. Believe me itâs not that easy for just anyone.
I've been waiting for Lishi to get into the pin tumbler game. Looks like they're here now.
That's a quality tool!
Great review, Bill !! đđ
Looks like a must have to me ! TY Bill ! Awesome !!!
Great pick. Cheers Bill đ»
Super tool !
Thank you
fascinating concept pick
Awesome tool thank for the review
That is real nice to cut some keys. That's pretty impressive, now for the other locks.
Always beautiful work showing off the toys. Even "super"/stupid easy entries to kwiksets. I should acquire more fun stuff, especially since I'm trying to have more fun with friends who say, "Picking? You can get in faster by..." That gets to the fun of two people with no tools or those angle grinders or drills everyone seems to carry on them having a race to get in identical locks. But yeah, good review.
Genius product ! I want one !
Wow that camera your using is AWESOME đ đ Quality!!
Will buy it even if I don't win..Great review. đ
From quick first impression, the only change that it needs is the pin height indicator numbering on the lock side. Reason being your fingers/hand obstruct present numbering in use.
That is a neat tool
What an amazing tool
Awesome video
Well done
Wow great tool
Powerful tool !!!
It's gorgeous!
Looks like a good quality tool for pro's, very precise! đâ
awesome tool
Great instructional! LiShi is Pronounced LEE-SHIrt. The SHI sound in shirt. SHI () is the same as saying "Mister" in English. Doesn't take away from the video, just wanted to let you know.
It's a race. As techniques for picking locks get better. The more advances lock makers will have to make. This rivalry will be good for advancement.
So my temu one shows up tomorrow. I'll try and remember to repost results. đ€
I remember when I bought the ultimate adversary practice kit I measured the pins, and although it was a Schlage keyway, I was dismayed to find that the driver pins were not standard Schlage sizes. So I could not use the driver pins with the included key, it came with it's own properly sized driver pins. Would doing something similar here mess with the decoding, using non standard sized driver pins? I know, it is worrying over stopping someone from copying the key when they already have gained access, just a thought experiment for me.
Thanks Bill. I've extensive use of Lishis with automotive lock systems, but was real curious to see how they work with pin tumblers. Granted, Kwikset locks are pretty 'agricultural', but this demo gives weight to Lishis working with other pin tumbler manufacturers. Good demo - cheers!
This for sure is something to win :O
Did the feedback feel like spool pins using the lishi, would it have been just as quick if you had not pinned it? It looked very smooth and comfortable to use
I would like to have seen you actually decode and cut a key to fit it, just to see the process, and to see just how accurate the tool is.
cool looking tool
Looks like a well made tool.
I just ordered the generic ss01 and 02 and thought they were for any straight and s curved lock but found out they're for Yale or schlage but they were about 20 each shipped and only difference i can tell isine don't have a picture of a Chinese guy on em and the arm going to the tip of the pick that pushes the tumblers isn't as thick.
I got in one of of my keickset locks with one of mine and it wouldn't pick the keickset but it did push some tumblers no problem.
I ordered the generic kw5 since you can use it on 4 and 5 pin locks and it was $31 shipped and should be here in a few weeks to try out.
watching you use this lets you see ans understand whats going on so much better than watching spp . I do like watching spp though, just cant see what is happening with the pins like you can with this tool.
i messed up when rekeying my kwikset smartkey, tried pick it myself and didn't get anywhere. ordered one of these, hope it'll do the trick for me.
Would love one for the Assa Ruko D12 / serie 1200
Expectations were low, but damn...
Hi! Does the Lishi KW1 also work for a cheap Euro cylinder of the brand "Basi"?
What a nice tool
i have to try one
I like they started pin Tumbler locks
A version for the M1 keyway would be a nice easy way to generate keys for masterlocks with no key. I see lots of them at fleamarkets and similar sales and many have no key.
Damn, time to change the locks (again)
Almost scary easy. But this is a nice tool. Very nice for cutting keys.
Looks amazing ! :O
Can you use that for car door locks too ?
what about some serrated pins in there too or really long spools, since i would be wondering if all of the spool pins are the same overall size end to end. most kits have multiple sizes
R & D went into the case!
Hey Bill,
where do I know which Lichiâs are the correct one since there are many on he market? :)
I need one of these, $120 is steep but worth it
I'd like to try this for myself to see if it can pick faster than just picking it. How long would it take you with a normal pick? Not sure yet if it's worth 120 bucks. If they are I can see them being regulated or banned. How they would stop the import I have no idea.
wow, i know the vid is 4 years old now but damn, just bought the kw1, sc1, am5, and m1/m2 for a total of 95 bucks
What decoder would I need for a master lock made by milwaukee wis lock No. 7 I know it's the same as a No. 3 but is smaller does that matter for the decoder?
I don't understand how are we supposed to know wich" keyway " is my lock I don't know if it is the right term . I mean i have a door how do i know if my lock is a KW or SS002 etc ... Thanks a lot for your videos you are amazing !
Hi does it work on most 5 pin cylinders cvc locksmiths and security
iâm hoping to get one someday
sirve esa herramienta para cerraduras de serreta en general?
3:22 - Bill, when you said, "I think these things should probably be regulated," did you really mean that or were you engaging in hyperbole to make a point?
My guess would be that it's hyperbole
Hey now, a serial number kept Bill from shooting Lawyer in the leg! Didn't it? @@Novers
Point was , buy better locks folks , some thing with new paracentric keyways
@@Novers I sure hope so.
Quiero una cĂłmo ago
I love mine after 2 practice runs got in my front door 25 seconds
What picks can you use these on like latch euro cylinders etc is each 1 different as you can see I'm new to the game an looking for advise thank-you new sub scriber
I was thinking about ordering the lishi 120 peace pick kit if I get a stimulus check so I could make money picking vehicle locks at car dealerships if they lose the keys or what ever do you think it's worth it
Do you have to get a different style key for different vehicles?
So this is for dead bolts and normal locks right not cars or can it do everything ?
Wow... Just wow... This would most definitely been amazing in DAME. Where was this Lishi fellow in `89?
Lol, just like years ago!!!!! I was young then and knew the entire industry of all of everything was bullshit! Went threw all the challenges and back to knowing what was worth while to listen to and what wasn't! Your video and tool set makes sence!!!! Was awesome then, still awesome now within 2022 and I was looking at this a very long time ago early 2000's maybe? Yes safety first, legal as in wanting the cows to go home!
impressive.
Cool toy!
I need one, but only when I need to pick 50 quick-sets for a job. I might save a minute per lock... XD
Time to build a moat around the house!
This is why I live in Florida....alligators! Ain't found a pick for one of those yet...
@@DanBowkley
can you ship a few up to Georgetown, Canada??!!:)
Or upgrade your locks to mul-t-lock or medeco
