  • This is a quick buyer’s guide for the newly refreshed 2022 VW Jetta. One of the main changes for 2022 and up is the upgraded 1.5l turbo 4-cylinder from the Taos. But can this refreshed Jetta compete with Honda & Toyota? See my 2022 Corolla Review: • Pros & Cons.. 2022 Toy...

I've been looking at Sport and SE trims. Lots of car for the money with impressive fuel economy numbers.

Main gripe for me is the terrible four speaker sound system with no satellite radio in any trim below the SEL with no upgrade available. Other than that the Sport sounds like a really good deal.

I agree I have a 2022 Jetta sport and the radio sucks. But I'm kinda spoiled anyway. I think 90% of car stereo systems suck. My favorite is the Marks Levinson systems you can get in Lexus

At 20k and the way the car looks it is a good presentation. With that said the Civic is so excellent and in the long term, reliability and resale answer questions that are an aspiration for VW. Like the looks, but as long as Honda builds what they build the way they build it, I don't see any way this car competes dollar for dollar overall. Great review Kevin.

i have had the jetta since 2017, i had the sport, i lked it it was pretty good. i now own a 2020 jetta r line which i like also, but is a lease and it ends 6 months. i'm thinking of getting the 2023 sport, but like you said it does not have heated seats, or pano roof it makes the car look somewhat better. by the way i think your reviews are excellent, you dont mess around say any jokes, you are very straight forward with your reviews, and i appreciate that.

VW Jetta are extremely reliable. Each time videos like these are made there's always a few comments about reliability. I am on my 4th Jetta this one a 2017 TSI S model. I had no issues with any of them and all have been driven over 100k miles. My current car has 119 Thousand miles ZERO problems.👌l decided to skip the 2019 to 2021 models because the HP was dropped to 145hp. I will be looking at the new models come 2024. BTW the Jetta transmission are Japanese manufactured by Aisin the sticker under the hood shows it. Aisin also makes transmission for Toyota.

I had this car for a rental while in Hawaii this past summer and was completely underwhelmed by it. I know it was a rental, but the interior was creaky and falling apart. The worst part was the transmission where it would slip on engagement on steep inclines. It was so bad that I thought it was a DCT. the infotainment was hard to navigate.
On the other hand, we had an alimta for the first half of the trip. I'm generally not a nissan or cvt fan, but I ended up really liking the altima. It was extremely roomy and the controls were easy to use. Most surprisingly, the CVT was perfect for the mountainous roads where it would smoothly adjust to the right ratio for the steep inclines/declines without having to constantly feel the jolt of the gear changes in the jetta.

As someone who really likes German cars for the particular heavy and Teutonic feel they have, I just wasn’t a fan of the new Jetta. I owned an older one and when it got totaled in an accident I just bought a used MB instead of a new Jetta.

As a Jetta driver for the last 6 years, I like the mechanics and interior quality. However, I have discover that it has a known rust issue at the lower part of side fenders just by the front wheels. It is a known issue because of a poor design. I am a bit dissapointed because I like VW however I do not like "rust". I hope someone from VW management reads this message and do something about. Please deal with the known rust issue that affects the lower part of the side fenders. Thanks

I just test drove this 2024 VW Jetta car with my daughter and I can confidently say that 40% of what this guy said about pros is BS. The plastics on the interior and exterior won't last 7 years in warmer climates. The ride is bumpy, road noise was terrible.. lacks sound proofing and engine needs refinement.

I just picked up a 2023 Sport model. I can tell you the xds will def come in handy. It blows away any Civic from a value perspective and has great mpg. Also, a much better 0-60 which is stress free freeway ramp merging compared to the 2.0 Civic. It is really a cushy cruiser which makes it a perfect daily for me.
