Salsa Shines - Shuffle Step

As a teacher you can not emphasize enough the importance of Shines.
Shines are great for your balans, coordination, footwork, posture, speed, timing and many many more elements.
So if you do not like Shines please remember that Shines offer you a perfect way to simply become a better dancer without needing a partner.
Now some Shines can even be used to make a certain turn pattern or combination with a partner more easy.
With the Shine Shuffle Step you will find out that the SECOND 3 STEPS (on count 5,6 and 7) of the leader can be used in the variation The Box AFTER he initiates the Enchufa.
The steps before this (on 1,2 and 3) can be found and practised with the Shine Shuffle Step.
Like this it will become much easier to understand the great importance of Shines in Salsa dancing.

Since I learned the Shuffle Step and Box Step/3 Slides shines, thanks to your excellent videos ,I can understand why they are so important and useful. However, and apologies if this seems a silly question, when do you do them on the dancefloor? For variety, for a change, or if you can't find a lady to dance with you?

The lady can do the same step! It is an individual step that can be executed once too people let go of each other on the dance floor

Salsaventura , for man the count is 1, 2, 3, -, 5, 6, 7, 8; 1, 2, 3, -. I guess for the lady the count should be 5, 6, 7, -, 1, 2, 3, 4; 5, 6, 7, -. Right?

How about learning a good basic (with bodymovement) before making not shining shines. As a teacher i would emphasize this strongly. Sorry guys but somebody has to tell the truth.

Hi, you do not have to say sorry. This video is not about body movement. And yes, we do add body movement but much much later. If you want to teach somebody nothing, teach them everything ;-)
