Imagine, being a standup, respectable, charming, "got-a-future" man and called "corny". This is one of the biggest pitfalls in the black community. Got a future? Going to college? Following your dreams? Corny. But sell some drugs to most likely poison your own community, be a thug, got some court dates coming up? That's a bae material. Imagine.

my boyfriend would get called “white” // “white boy” as an insult in school, & that’s never sat right with me. In another instance, a black girl told him that she wished he wasn’t white,, because he’s a really handsome guy, but white… like what. Now THAT’S corny. He might be a “white boy” to some people but I’ve never been treated so amazingly by a single person in my life until I met him. I love him truly. I find that black insular racial stereotypes are some of the most restrictive parameters for personal success that I have seen for any race. Always remember that the core column of any identity is the person first, not race or sexual identity. That is the problem with a lot of left leaning thinking is the group is paramount over the individual. This ironically as an sovereign individual keeps you ideological captured and stunted from personal success. Breaking out of that cage is what allows you to step forward with a clear independent mind and actions.

But always had that inner “hood” kid alter ego. One day they pushed me too far throwing a wet paper ball at my head, I had enough and they got to see my “hood” side when I threw a 700pg text book at this kid and kicked him in the face and I remember the fear in this kid’s eyes when I yelled “whatchu gone n***a!! What?!” “Ima fck yo ass up! Keep playing wit me!” Mind you I was never this angry before at anyone up until this point. It was like watching Goku turn super sayain for the first time. Everyone, including the substitute teacher was absolutely stunned. All I could remember is him saying “I was just playing wit you” nervously. Did I get sent to the dean’s office and get a permanent record for fighting in class? Yes. Was it worth? Absolutely. @lilmisfit Před rokem +12

I totally get where you’re coming from, and I don’t think you were “dumb,” nor “bragging.” I think you were a kid who was reacting to a difficult and unfortunate situation, doing the best you could to adapt with the emotional skills you had at the time. Not all children come from well adjusted backgrounds with good, consistent role models, and even if they do, we all have our individual challenges as kids and adults regardless. I think it’s foolhardy to expect children and teenagers to have the emotional fortitude, maturity in perspective, and self esteem of an adult. For many if not most kids, this simply isn’t the case. That’s why we humans often learn from our mistakes, and why humility is so important as we learn to develop our self confidence and find our way. It would have been cool if those kids didn’t shake your confidence in a way that got you off track for a time, but i’m proud of you for finding your way back despite it. Realizing the external things that hindered us in life, but also taking accountability for our own mistakes in the process is what makes us understand what values are important to us as adults. I think you’re doing great, I think the kid version of you in middle school was doing great too. You were just a kid. You were doing the best you could.

I'm a nerdy pretty girl. So in primary school, I was very corny looking but once I hit puberty I changed. Not many girls played soccer and I was the one getting the girls to play it. I told my friends to stay in high school which they wanted drop out early. I'm not a follower which is a good thing. At 28 years old, I still watch cartoons and have toys. Lol

Hi Corny nerd girl here. I was bullied for loving science in school and i was also fat so double whammy. And i completely agree that this shit follows you to this. To the point where i can't approach guys and ask them out. I lack self confidence because women AND men who told me i was a nerd, i acted white because i had good grades and spoke fluently and i rather read a book than be on the block and it made me had an identity crisis growing up cause i used to think i had to listen to certain music watch movies i didn't even want to watch and talk a way i didn't want to to be not corny or weird. I ended up going to college and got a degree in marine and conservation biology and this was my biggest accomplishment an I for one enjoy that Michael got to take this opportunity. I also loved that he has expressed his love for anime go ahead and super saiyan on them my brother.

@@kamu38 i forgot to mention i live in the caribbean and being here sounds nice and everything but you are kinda set to be part of the crowd instead expressing your own individuality. for example if you don't like dancehall you are looked at as strange and unusual and i don't like dancehall bit I forced myself to listen to it cause i was already quiet and shy and easy target so in case the opportunity arise i was like yeah this artist i like so and so. it became very tiring. 😪
