- Door ajar light comes on due to faulty sensor. This video shows you how to disconnect the door ajar sensor so that the light will not be on anymore and will not come on. The door will then think it is always closed so there may be a slight inconvenience for that but I see way more inconvenience from the door ajar light and alarm going off as well as the interior lights coming on. Hope this helps you with your problems. Let me know if you have more ranger questions.
(I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT) It worked for me! Unfortunately I had no idea how to find which one was at fault so I did it door by door and obviously it was the last one. The dome light works when you switch it left and right. The center light no longer has functionality. Well, still better than before. Nice video.
you can turn the center one on with the interior light dimmer by rolling it all the way to the top

I been driving like this since I got my 2000 ranger in Nov. ‘99. My wipers used to come on when the door ajar chime and light would would light on bumps 😂 I just pulled the fuse since I live in south Texas and don’t need wipers

Is there an easy way to make all alarms stop (door ajar, seatbelt not attached ..)? Then I can just remove the dome lightbulb mine doesn't have a switch like yours and the dimmer switch on the dash doesn't turn it off either. Thanks so much!

The issue we have with this 02 xlt same truck is the door light doesn't turn off right when the door is shut like it usually does. Cant seem to figure out if one of the door switches is messed up on the driver side an thats whats causing the power draw drain issue this trucks been basically junk since we got the thing with the electric battery drainage issue
…and all you had to do was spray WD40 on the locking mechanisms. 🤷🏼♂️

Haha I didn't even watch the video but just read this comment. Worked like a charm. Spray the locking mechanism on your door which catchs the lock bar and use a key to move it around a bit and ta da.

When doing the back doors instead of taking off the panel, get in the rubber going from body to door and cut the black wire.

I just unplugged mine on 2003 Ford ranger until the new door ajar switch comes in .
If i do this will i be able to drive my truck with no problems i have the same issue
I have not had any problems with mine, the only difference is that the dome light doesn’t come on when you open the door and it doesn’t chime when you get out to tell you your headlights are on so I’ve accidentally left them on once.
My dome light does not go on when i open the drivers door, do you have any suggestions?
Gonna have to use the brightness on your headlight switch to use your inside lights
Can you look at the colors of the wires and just disconnect them where the harness enters the doors? Like cut them and put wire nuts on the ends? Seems like too much work.

Yes, the sensor still applies, it just doesn’t have power locks
Hi Ryan, I've got an 07 Ford Ranger 4X4 that I purchased to use for hunting. I've installed a on/off switch to shut off the door chime and interior light whent he door is open and the key is in the ignition. How do I know which wire to tie into on the door latch switch? I'm pretty sure all I need to do is break the circuit but am not sure what wire to splice into. Any help would be apreciated.
So yes all you have to do it break the circuit, it’s a naturally open circuit so when you open your door it closes the circuit and turns on your light, if you watch the video i show which wires apply, I don’t have an 07 so I’m not 100% sure it’s the same but should be similar.

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger SuperCab. I did the passenger side rear door because my truck was in a wreck and the body shifted a wee bit. Inside the black wrap, there was a black wire and a Red/Blue wire. I cut the black one and it worked. Hope this helps.
What if I just replace the whole door
That won’t have anything to do with the wiring… The wiring is the problem , not the door itself.

I'll just replace the whole door. Seems easier.
And then you must move the fob actuator from old door if power locks, and move locking mechanism so key will work in lock. Rethink?

Well if it didn’t work on drivers side then yes I’d try other side and hook drivers side back up since that wasn’t your problem, I knew which side was the problem before I tore mine apart
Ryan Reeves I ended up unplugging 4 doors, so problem solved... I felt like at some point all of them were going to cause trouble... super useful information though. Thanks a lot man

If you doing this than might as well remove Fuse 26 (10amp). Applicable to 03 Ranger Generation.
Fuse also shuts off the speedometer and the dome lights so I think I’ll stick with my fix so I can see at night and know how fast I’m going
@@ryanreeves4246 Just saying lot of effort was put in to save battery draw and still wasn't a complete fix. Just suggesting another work around. Phone GPS has speed (much accurate) and light. I also gave you a thumbs up.

I've gots a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT Ranger 4x4. I nicknamed HER "Angel-Baby".
It took HER about 45 seconds for Dome Lite to dim & THEN OFF!!!!
ALL I done WUZ pulled out ALL 3 bulbs in the dome lite.
Difference is I can still use my dome lights and the door alarm doesn’t go off either
it would be heaven IF you could find a harness for your camera/phone camera and use those two hands that GOD gave you .... the method of trying to be efficient holding your camera in one hand is disturbing to say the least ... sorry for being so critical ...
Bro, I’m not a professional CZcamsr, I’m just a random guy that came up with a simple fix for the door ajar sensor issue and figured I’d share it with others who might have the same issue, maybe you should invest in a mount and re-record it and make it professional quality
Bad design! My mechanic wanted to charge me $250 to fix this.
For an older vehicle, you'd think you could just disable the switch. Nope.

@ryanreeves4246 right people don't understand making videos I left out lifting the fuel pump out if the tank after showing how to remove the ring and unpuging the wire, to this day my top comments on that video is that I can't belive you didn't show pulling it out of the tank 😂😂😂
