I have been fighting this problem off and on for years. The alarm was driving me crazy. I followed these instructions and the problem was fixed. Many, many thanks!
Thanks for this video I had the same issue with my 1999 Volvo C70 convertible on the passenger door. No courtesy and door edge marker lights after opening the door. After spraying some lithium grease in the door lock as in the video, all worked again. Thank you so much.
Omg omg omg. AMAZING. I did this with my 2004 santa fe. I was skeptical at first because i thought it was either the door switch or faulty wiring / ground or water damage to electronics from all the rain we were having here recently. My dash warning was on and dome light. Luckily there is bypass switch for dome but dash warning was still on and could have drained battery overtime. I first tried the drivers side door. Flicked the lock hinge down, sprayed with wd40, released hinge with inside handle and closed the door. To my big suprise the light on dash got dimmer so i knew i was in the right track. Cycled through open and close a few times and it went out completely. Came back again so repeated the spraying process and it came off again. Even if it does not hold up at least i know what the problem is. I cant thank you enough for this video. I am an advance diy’er and have looked at many different videos and tutorials from a wide range of auto mechanical topics, and this one was by far the most amazing. I never knew that hinge had electronics tied to it and never expected it to work on my vehicle since yours was a 2007 ford and mine a 2004 hyundai. Its the simple things that are the most spectacular and this video is up there for one of the most helpful ones on youtube. It works for many different cars guys. If you have similar problem, this might actually do the trick. Cheers.
Jesus Christ that's it?!!! 3 frekkin years I've been dealing with this lol and all it took was some WD 40 and a couple of door slams lmao 🤣 thanks for the info man I thought the car had a failed sensor or wire short lol you really saved me a few hundred dollars lol
Cars get out of alignment, when repairing and replacing sometimes when you rebuild an item or fix it it’ll work again, just needs to be slammed back into place.
Dude! You saved close to $200+ (that's what the mechanic wanted to charge me). Like you said, I got the WD 40, sprayed it a few times --- opened and closed it many times. Then went and opened and closed all the doors -- including the trunk. It didn't work right away, but after all that opening and closing, problem fixed! I cannot thank you enough!
You're welcome, Glenn! I went to the grocery store today and even with buying the bare basics, I had to put a few items back but it sure was nice with my car door switch working properly. I'm happy to hear that it fixed yours as well!
I have a friend whose done light was starting on while he drove. I sprayed an anti-seizing spray in the door latches and opened and closed each a few times. When he drove this morning, the light isn’t on anymore 🙌🏾 Much appreciation for these instructions.
Thanks very much. Tried this with some Dry Silicone Lube I had with my 2007 Ford Mustang and it worked perfectly. Had to open and closed the door a few times, like you said, but it worked consistently thereafter.
Hey thanks a lot, this even worked on my 94 Silverado; and fixed the power lock issue along with it! very good video and explanation for all us (need to see it) people lol
Good afternoon or morning whenever you have received this message My name is Lemoine and I have a Ford ranger pick up truck and just recently I saw it started to to give me the door ajar and the ceiling light stays on but after watching your video and did exactly what you did and boom it works perfectly NO MORE AJAR NOR CEILING LIGHT ON just wanted to say thank you sir .
THANK YOU!!! I had this problem with a 2013 Mazda 3 and this did the trick. I had the door panel off and got stuck with how to access the switch to replace. I was heading out the door to the dealership when I found this video. Thanks for posting, this saved me money and taught me something. Thanks so much. Great video.
Fixed me up. We had a really muggy and rainy week last week and my 99 Ranger has some well used bits. The door ajar started today and just using some air cleaner and electronics cleaner got me cleared up. Thanks for the info!
@@Adrien_broner I did the same thing shown here except with electronics cleaner spray instead of wd-40. It did the job and hasn't been a problem since.
Hi, I am far away from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦, I solved my flex ford 2014 light jaguar on…after spraying with (45) Thanks very much for sharing this video with world.. God bless you 🤲🏻💕🤲🏻
I guess im randomly asking but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Dallas Evan Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hope we can fix our 05' Escape. The beeping is driving me crazy! Have to turn the radio up to drown out the beeping. Ugh!!! Nice job Michael Heyward, you made that look so easy.
Much "mahalo" Mikel from Ernie in Hawaii. Followed your WD-40 remedy on my Ford Ranger truck and worked beautifully. Door ajar light extinguished in 5 minutes! Thanks again!
I had already decided to try WD-40 tomorrow as I usually try simple things first....and I always keep WD-40 around. Glad to know in advance that it can work!! Thanks! 😁👍
@hayeskingdom send here although I already have one. Ally lights are off but the indicator says door ajar but doesn't which door and this thing is killing my battery, so yeah I do need the 2nd bottle. Lol
THANK YOU! This worked for my 2018 F-150! All I had was some bike chain cleaner/lube spray and it worked! So glad I tried this before starting to pull the harness looking for broken wires.
It works! Huge thanks for the video. Wear safety glasses as you may get back spray. Start with the electrical cleaner, then lube the latch itself (not the switch) with plastic safe grease. It is worth a shot on any car with a switch just below the latch. The switch is likely just dirty after many years. In my case, I ordered the switch, was ready to replace it ($40 in parts and couple hours of work) but then saw this video, figured I will try it. Aimed below the latch with electrical cleaner the best I could, since seeing the switch was impossible. It cured the problem nearly immediately. Followed up on the latch only with some white lithium grease. The new switch part is likely going back 😄
You're welcome, laughingiceZhang! Happy to be of help. If you haven't already done so, please consider giving the video a thumbs up and maybe become a subscriber.
Thanks, mate! A little (kinda) WD-40 fixed my 2016 F150 Lariat. Just sprayed it in, then used a screwdriver to rock the latch through full range of motion about a dozen times. Glad I really worked on it a minute before I started taking things apart!
Thanks alot for this video , i was about to open up the door panel and replace the door lock actuator , I am From 🇴🇲 Oman and i have GMC sierra 2009 HD 3500 and a hummer h2 2009 with the same issue , i have used WD-40 electric cleaner and then a full can of WD-40 on all 4 doors left it for a night the second day i drove my hummer off to work and the message is gone and the lights are off , the Sierra was driven later and i was happy to see my info display clear with no messages. Big thanks again
IT WORKED! I saturated the driver door latch with WD-40 and exercised the door 6 times. NO MORE DOOR AJAR! For reference, it's a 2008 Pontiac G6. Fortunately, the 2008 G6 Dome Light will turn off immediately with ignition on or after being shutoff even with door ajar after about 5 minutes thanks to a parasitic load detection system in the Body Control Module.
This worked on my 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis. Courtesy lights were staying on and key fob transmitter would not lock doors. Dealt with this intermittent problem for years. Thank you so much!
@@skipwilliams7288 Unfortunately my problem returned and none of the locks will work now. I think that I may need a new door module. That black box in the lower right hand side that everything connects to. Must be a common problem with these cars. Good luck with yours.
@@nogiedeville1623 Just had all my problems fixed including intermittent power windows, fob not working, trunk release not working, tire pressure warning on, etc. Found out it was green ground wires not connected inside of the flex rubber line between the frame and the drivers door. WD40 is not a lubricant, it's more of a pressurized de-greaser in this case. A nasty characteristic of WD40 is that it attracts dust and dirt, so following this up with some silicone spray lube would be a good idea. 👍👍👍
Worked again, sprayed a little PB in there and less than 2 secs later the lamp went off and the switch started working again after months of being stuck open
FIX The original owner on my 1993 truck had reinstalled the light upside down so dome was on wrong wire making dome always on. He also used wrong length screws. If the mounting screws are too long, the mounting screws grounds itself on body making it always stay on.

It's work thank You for the tip 👍🏻
