Trust me, twinblades (with a short handle) don't make any sense whatsoever. It combines the weaknesses of a sword with the weaknesses of a spear to create the absolute worst of both worlds. Can't hold with a wide grip for better control, can't hold it directly outward lest you stab your own torso, can't properly align the edge for a cut, can only hold in the middle of the weapon which makes it the same length of a regular sword.
A hard stick of the same size would be ways more effective.

I think I'll stick with the Claymore, and instead replace my straight sword with a light gs. Given that the guard counter is fast enough

Yeah. There are 8 new weapon "types", not just weapons. And I'm sure there's going to be more weapons of the previous types as well
@viktorthevictor6240 I believe its confirmed there are at least 100 new weapons being added. How many of those will be among the 8 new weapon categories is unknown. But I imagine each one will receive at least 5+ on the lowest end
The Milady isn’t the only light greatsword, it’s just the only one we know of right now. I would be a little disappointed if a weapon class only had one weapon
My immediate thought when I saw the light greatsword was warring states through Han dynasty two-handed jian, too. Also, those flowing animations are fairly reminiscent of Chinese sword techniques. I’m so thrilled to see something resembling a jian get some love.

When I saw it. It looked to me like a proper proportioned longsword. As some long swords do have the longer pommel counter balance. Frankly im just happy about other weapons too like the beast claws.
I am desperately hopeful that the proper pronunciation of that sword is malady as in disease or ailment instead of the fedora tipping ma lady

Stance with light greatswords is like chinesse jian stance from 7 kingdoms era. But it was used with shield. It was from southern part of China if i remember. Tortoise shield and sword. I saw that kind of stance with dadao or ox-tail saber when friends tried to recreate tang dynasty soldier in cosplay.
Now that you mentioned it, the resemblance is uncanny.
I wonder if Miyazaki actually took inspirations from this Chinese two-handed Jian... And idk if it's just me, but the moveset seems kinda Wushu-ish too.

I love this new light greatsword. Pair it with the new wing stance AoW and wreck everything.
Only one weapon so far. There will be half a dozen different light greatswords in the dlc forsure.

I think he was referencing the concept of halfswording, getting it confused with the way people talk about reverse grip today. Of course, I don’t know everything, I am but a humble keyboard warrior with distant aspirations to actually get into HEMA stuff.

As happy as i am to see the looks of dual reversed sword because it is basically a reversed sabre , i actually gonna be happier when they just add an actual one handed sabre. Like the follower sabre from ds3 for instance.
They need to add more actual real life historical curved swords, a byzantine paramerion-looking curved sword would do or a polish sabre

There is basically not a single weapon modeled on real live versions that weigh more than 4 or 5 pounds..... and thats the REALLY big ones........
Milady fucks. You can do some sick mix ups with it. It's great for duels but also works great in pve content as well.

Longswords hands down. The existing Straight Sword weapon class are closer to Arming and Bastard Swords anyways.
Idk why they didn't just go with Longswords over "Light Greatswords", they've never cared about having a weapon sharing the same name as a weapon class before (see the "Greatsword" which is a Colossal/Ultra-Greatsword).
