Can I just say how nice it is to FINALLY see Ernie get the credit he was due? I always thought it was sorry that in many promo shots they would only show 3 of the 4 when Ernie was such an integral part of the first 2 movies.
I remember even as a kid finding it weird that winston wasnt on the cover with the other three

He wasn’t supposed to be on the cover of the first movie. If he were, then everyone would’ve saw that he’s the fourth Ghostbusters and questioned the hell out of it.
I agree. Ernie was in the second half of the original film, and was in most of Ghostbusters 2, and played an integral part during the finales. It always bugged me that he wasn't on the first film's posters. I love the original GB2 poster though! Ernie rocks, as does his character of Winston, though I was kind of hoping that Ray would be the one to bring the Ecto 1 back to the firehouse, since he was the one who found the car originally. It felt off in Afterlife for Winston to be taking it back to NYC.
If they make another film with the originals, I want both Ray and Winston to have equal say in bringing the busting business back.
Ikr, Winston literally saved Ray and Egon from burning in a fire in the second movie. I think that the end credit scene for afterlife might be hinting to more zeddemore content in the future.

I don't know why but hearing the actual voice of Gozer, sounds like she was trying to channel the Wicked Queen from the Disney version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

I love this, but I think my 8 year old nephew is a bigger Ghostbusters fan(at these points in our lives) I believe I'll pick this up for him, for his upcoming birthday, better to be watched over and over than put up on the shelf to be admired.

I hope some day in the future, we see special editions of films that have an option to shuffle alternative lines and scenes just to make it more fun to rewatch. I think that'd be really cool.

Absolutely amazing, you can definitely say Ghostbusters has become something even bigger than what it started as.
Must've been Egon getting it on with the mystery woman it would explain how he has a daughter and grandchildren in Afterlife despite no mention of him having relations with anyone in the first 2 movies

It's always neat hearing actors "on" outside of the full trappings of a production. It's like hearing a voice actor in character a convention or something.
The deleted scene from GB2 with world of the psychic, the girl performing the song was Claire from Toxic Avenger part 2(accordion and all). I really wanted this box set from all the special features alone.

Oh, man, the 'American Dad' joke from 'The American Dad Afterschool Special' HAS FINALLY COME TRUE! Steve breaks up with Debbie because Stan can't take that she's overweight and he says: "The new 'Ghostbusters' box set just came out--" and on the commentary they go "There IS no 'Ghostbusters' box set!!" NOW THERE IS! I love that so much:):) They should've managed to put the video game footage on a DVD too so they could've officially said it was 'Ghostbusters 3'!! Maybe that random woman was the mystery mother of Egon's mystery daughter...
The behind the scenes and unfinished stuff looks really interesting. I remember seeing the tv version as a kid and being confused about why the lines were different.
Seeing Egon loose his shit at Peck is hilarious as all hell.

14:47 Oh hey, that's Phoebe Legere on the accordion. She played Claire, Toxie's blind wife in The Toxic Avenger Parts 2 & 3, also playing the accordion in those films. Very funny actress.
I believe the accordion player in the deleted Ghostbusters 2 scene is musical artist/actor Phoebe Legere. She's perhaps best known for playing Toxie's girlfriend Claire in Toxic Avenger 2 and 3.
I sure hope they find Ray's possessed driving scene for whenever they re-release the films again. That's what I've been wanting to see since I saw the comic book as a kid!
RIP Ivan Reitman, thank you for making one of the greatest movies ever. You will be missed. Hope you and Harold are catching up in paradise.

I've heard of this "Amazon Exclusive" set, but this is my first time actually seeing it (I think). Looks like a really rad set, I'm sure Ghostbusters fans will be to see that the 2016 movie isn't part of this set. I still need to see "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" at some point. Also pretty cool to see some new features like more deleted scenes and alternate takes.
I do have the old "Green Box" Ghostbusters set I bought from FYE one time. That was a pretty cool set back in the 2000's. Also notably one of the features on the "Ghostbusters 2" DVD was two episodes of "The Real Ghostbusters" cartoon, and one of the episodes coming from the "Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters" era.

With all the things I've heard about missing or duplicated discs, missing slip on covers and other mishaps I'm glad I didn't spend $1-200 on this. I hope they release the Special Features on their own at some point.

Got mine without any issues, but that was a huge concern before I’d gotten it in hand. I definitely wouldn’t buy a sealed one.
the european version doesn't have the slipcovers or de green light, so dissapointed cause it's the same price.

I get the feeling that most of the cut contents of Ghostbusters II were better than most of the actual movie. That scene where Ray was possessed is such a depressing casualty. They really should have kept that in, it looks like it could have given some urgency and danger to the story. Though I'm still wondering myself if Slimer pestering Louis being a running gag is funnier than Slimer just appearing out of context as a bus driver, only for Louis to let out an unenthusiastic "Oh. It's you." That's the biggest laugh the film consistently gets out of me.
Also, Peter saying he wants lunch when the Mayor asks what they want from him? No wonder Peter and Garfield are so intertwined.
I think I had that Now Comics issue growing up, having had only one of the (I think?) two-part adaptation.
I think that one scene out of context is way funnier. As a running gag over the course of the movie it would have lost some of its humour.
@@Grey_Warden_Invasion I'm mixed about it. It works hilariously out of context, but it really seems they could have had some good scenes with Louis. Between that and the scenes with Eugene Levy, that is. There's so many things I dislike about GB II, but it seems just a few more well placed scenes would have made it a stronger movie.
12:07 I distinctly remember them talking about that "jews and berries" part on the audio commentary for the first movie on previous releases.
My husband and I just watched Afterlife for the first time tonight; it was really good.
It's a little ridiculous how many re-releases Sony has been doing for the first two Ghostbusters but this is pretty neat they have even more stuff to include, even if it's not everything.
You think it's ridiculous how many re-releases Ghostbusters get, there have been the same amount for their Spiderman movies(yes, even the Andrew Garfield ones)

Thank god for reviews. I had intentions to buy this Ultimate Collection because I thought the deleted scene of Ray driving the Ecto-1A while possessed by Vigo WAS gonna be included. But NOPE!!! So thank you for sparing me the disappointment man.
It be cool if we can see more audition tapes of other characters in the future, cause I remember reading somewhere that the Judgement Day conversation is what they used to audition actors for Winston. Maybe rehearsal tapes of casted actors/actresses and auditioned actors/actresses acting out moments in the film, moments in the Sedgwick Hotel or the Firehouse.
I was looking at pre ordering this but I couldn't justify the price after ordering the Hasbro proton pack. Glad I get to see it reviewed by you.

You're the first channel I know of that actually shows the new special features instead of just talking about them! The lights on my set don't work, but it's not a huge loss.
This set is sold out literally EVERYWHERE, glad you got a copy!

I am honestly shocked that there hasn't been a ROM hack to add him back in. The only ROM hack I've seen available is one to change their overalls from blue to a more movie accurate version.

I wish this collection had the complete series for The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters. Kinda like they did a limited release of Back To The Future collection where it had all 3 movies and the complete animated series.

The glowing green inside of the box reminds me of the talking Donkey on the box of my special edition Shrek 2 I've had since I was a kid. It doesn't work anymore, but his teeth would light up and he'd say "Shrek and Donkey on another whirlwind adventure!"

This box set looks AMAZING! I must have one - WITH the green light, thank you very much! How cheap is the UK to not spring for a green bulb?? Lame! I’m so glad you got this and reviewed it. I know how much you love Ghostbusters, and now fellow fans have an inside look at two versions of the set before they buy one themselves.
I’ve been a bit busier than usual so I’m behind on some of your videos, and for that I must apologize. But it does give me something to look forward to, so that’s good! Can’t wait to get all caught up. Thank you so much for this look at the newest Ghostbusters collection! I remember when the only copy of Ghostbusters I had was an edited-for-TV cut that I taped off network television onto a blank VHS (I even paused the recording during the commercial breaks, lol)! Glad you managed to get your hands on this set! It's pretty great for what it is. I was gonna hold off and maybe buy it in a few months, but as soon as it sold out on Amazon, I panic-bought it on the Walmart website for $100 (US). Glad I did because it's already being gouged to hell on Amazon (the price has more than doubled), and seems to be unavailable pretty much everywhere. I'm surprised its release has been so limited. Hopefully more will be produced in the future, since I think _Ghostbusters_ fans would really dig it for the most part.
The workprint of the first movie was the thing I was most excited about, and was the first thing I watched. Weirdly enough though, I don't know that I'd watch it ever again. The roughness of it-- especially the lack of music-- made it kind of a rough sit for me. You don't think about how much music impacts a film until it's no longer there. For me, a lot of the scenes just lacked that... "oomph" without the score or theme playing over the top of them. But I'm glad I got to see it at least once.
Dang, was really hoping this would finally be the release with the Ray driving footage included. Great video - very informative! Time to get yet another copy of the movies it seems!
the most informative part of this video is revealing that when you take everything out of the box, there's nothing in there now.

@@gracekim25 It's the name people give to Ghostbusters 2016 based on the Blu-Ray subtitle as a way to diferentiate it from the original Ghostbusters.
Considering I literally heard your voice in my head at one point during my theatrical viewing of Afterlife saying, "It's...EGONNNN!" I would not be exaggerating to say I've been looking forward to your thoughts on the film, so I'm glad you've got this nice set to bring us a little closer to that eventual review :) Great looking set, though, if I had the spare cash I would definitely follow your example and collect multiple variant covers and formats to some of my favorites as well.
I love how “Answer the call” was just included in the Ultimate Collection as a temporary code as if to say that it sort of exists in the ghostbusters canon, but not really.
I think Paul Feig was pretty sour about this and I can’t remember if it was on a post from his Facebook or on his Twitter page that showcased his salty-ness.
Answer the Call is its own little thing, and it comes across as a placeholder film because Sony wanted to make ANY Ghostbusters film at that point because they knew a true third film wasn't going to happen. It's like an alternate universe fan film, disconnected to the original by story, unlike Afterlife, where the original films do connect. ATC would only be there for completionists who want the full set, even if they don't want to actually watch it.
@@mightyfilm The weird thing is that they included it at all then. Like to include it as a temporary digital copy but then not as a physical copy definitely does seem odd.

@@thatonea-hole They should have just included a coupon or something to redeem for a physical copy AND a digital copy. That way the completionists and those who actually liked the film could get a copy to sit along side the set, and those who absolutely hate the movie like it actually mattered in the long run can just avoid it. I never get around to entering those digital codes anyway, mainly because when I get a DVD/Blu-Ray cheap, they're cheap because the codes already expired.

The crazy thing about this video is that it reminded me that for years I've been putting the stickers from the DVD cellophane inside the cases or on the back of the slipcover to keep them as part of the set and always thought I was the only weird person on the planet who had such an odd completionist habit...glad to know there's at least TWO of us, Phelan...🚫👻👍 My other weirdo tendency is I'll sometimes tuck the receipt inside the case in order to be surprised by it, possibly years or even a decade or more later, and they're like little time capsules...
I know...I'm weird. 📀 🤷♂️
It's also been a fun fact for many years (to me, and me only!) that the very first scenes ever shot for this movie, the Louis/Vinz stuff you mentioned that was captured on the very first day of photography, was shot on the day I was born. I have a framed facsimile of the day one callsheet in my office. Not sure who in this life gets to know that they share almost a blood connection to their favorite movie but hey, there it is...
One last thing, @1:23:32 of the new Ghostbusters workprint cut (or whatever they're calling it) is that Jason Reitman evacuating Dana's building with Catherine Reitman being carried along beside him? Can we pretend that they are the same characters when they both show up in GB2? 😄

oh Man, that park with Sherm.... I had a friend back in 89 who went to the pictures to see it (UK) and I only could get the comic, and I remember the possession of Ray, and Shem looking for a ride in echo 1, and always just thought sherm was cut out pre filming, as somewhere along the line I read the Driving montage in GB2 was the clips of Rays possessed driving.

I quite like Eugene Levy as Lewis’ cousin. They both act so similar and it would’ve been a nice little interaction. They should try and add him back into the movie if they can find all the scenes.

That's a pretty sweet box set.
Even WITH the light, the box wasn't as cool in person as it looked in photos. Props to the marketing team on that little bait and switch. Otherwise, it's a fine set and of course Sony will keep pumping them out knowing we'll keep buying as they "find" more special features to include. We'll see what the 40th for both films bring.

I have a OG sealed Slimer holographic cereal box. I've never seen one on eBay other than the one I have. I bought it about 15 years ago. I collect cereal which is a lonely but rewarding hobby.
