The Italian VHS is from an italian newspaper, La Repubblica, which tended to have popular movies come out with its Friday (if I remember well) edition. Oh, and the cch in Acchiappa is spoken kk, by the way.
Hey that Ecto-1 burning up a ticket was reuse for Ectotron in the comic. Cool!
The choice of naming Scrooged SOS Fantasmi was meant to exploit the presence of Murray to sell to Ghostbusters fans, since at the time "Acchiappafantasmi" was probably more of an official title than Ghostbusters.
As for that weird VHS from Repubblica, it used to be pretty common for newspapers to be paired with books and movies once a week. That used to be a way to acquire popular books and movies legitimately and at a cheap price. The funniest part is that some random VHS from one of our newspapers ended up in Canada when they used to be rewatched so many times the tape was consumed.

Thank goodness that the new 4K release finally brings back the simple black background. I'd prefer just the classic logo, but since they're including the sequel, I suppose they have to acknowledge its existence.

I broke my golden rule and mentioned it on this one in the name of 'being funny' :D Amazing to think some 35 year old movie we are all excited little fanboys to see these delightfully trivial variants, and yet with the 2016 "incident", will we even in half that time be excitedly looking at minor cover variants being even remotely bothered? Probably not.

I was born the year before the first movie came out... grew up watching the cartoon but I liked it so much my mom got me the movies on VCR. The toys also rocked! Had the HQ building and car with several ghosts including the Marshmallow Man. Ahhhh, great memories from these vids about them :)

8:48 - Akkiappa Fantasmi (literally "ghost catchers" because we don't have a good sounding word for "busters" in italian). La Repubblica is a local news outlet and that VHS is probably from a period where they were selling the movie bundled with the newspaper, we still do stuff like that with DVDs nowadays.

I wonder what the next format you'll find Ghostbusters on... I'm going to guess audio cassettes paired with a series of flip books is going to be next. With all these formats being found, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was a legitimate thing.

A couple of years ago I saw a dutch Ghostbusters VHS copy in a thrift store. It was a white box with the movie poster used as artwork. I regret not picking it up (only € 0.50!!).

I really don't like the no-ghost with the one and two finger pose. I wish the 35th anniversary set still had the red border but just the original no-ghost in the center on the front and the GB2 no-ghost in the center on the back. The current cast pose on the back of the case could have been on the inside. And I always thought I was the only one who put the stickers from the cellophane on the inside of the case for preservation purposes. Nicely done!

Correct me if I'm wrong but when the 35th Anniversary 4K BluRay was first Advertised didn't they promise us it would have the long lost Alternate Ending of Ghotsbusters 2?
I didn't hear about that if they did.
When you say "Long lost ending", are you talking about the version where, on the final shot of the Statue of Liberty, Slimer appears and races towards the camera (echoing the final shot of the first film), or something different?
@@pjgathergood6987 The original ending which test audiences didn't like involved the Ghostbusters getting the key to the city in front of the Statue of Liberty and then they talk for a bit and fade to black.
@@FullmetalNinja25 I've read several different script versions with slightly alternate endings but didn't know if this version was ever filmed. The only definite alternate ending version I know of is the aforementioned one where Slimer races towards the camera in the final shot... Or I could be wrong. Or maybe it is the self same version even.

I recently received it in the mail myself. First Blu-Ray I ever bought. Now I just need to find a Blu-Ray player. I don't exactly make the most forward-thinking purchasing decisions.
