    I just back to back watched this and Danaher's How's to do the perfect side escape vid.
    Imma share my epiphany real quick:
    Lachlan talks about pushing the opponent's head away above yours so that you may escape your hip properly when he has a good pinch with his right elbow.
    That is scary to do because you can end up with your left arm out of posture and it becomes hard AF to prevent the full mount.
    But Danaher talks about keeping your right knee on the opponent's right hip and walking away (with your left foot) inch by inch.
    Combine these two things and you get a way to escape that hip WHILE preventing both the full mount and getting out of posture.
    Battle testing in 2 hours!

    • @AbsoluteMMAStKilda
      @AbsoluteMMAStKilda  Před 5 lety +3

      Yes that is correct, the knee should be at the hip and there is no mount

    Cheers

    • @Leitefsj
      @Leitefsj Před 4 lety

      thaer12345 Hi. When your opponent moves into a scarf hold (modified Kesa Gatame), you should retract the elbow closest to his hip as soon as you recognize his move (let’s say the right one, to match the situation on this video). Now you’re able to turn to your right side, putting your right shoulder and hip on the mat, shrimp back and bring your right knee between yourself and him, re-establishing your guard.

    • @mjolnir9855
      @mjolnir9855 Před 4 lety

      How is the guy on top gonna get his knee over your belly with your knee holding his leg down? The escapee’s knee is on the opponent’s hip. The guy on top won’t be able to get his leg passed in order to do knee on belly.
