First quick hive inspection of the season! What to look for in a healthy beehive that has overwintered. At last the weather has started to warm up so we can have a look in the hives, long have we waited for this day! Hah. We have had fowl weather for quite sometime as other parts of the UK have been warmer in parts. Once the temperatures increase we'll do a spring clean on the hives and replace any old or damaged frames in the hive.

sorry for the beginner question could you tell me why you only checked 1 from 2 boxes below the queen extruder?

Hi there, we only use single brood boxes so it was only one box, the hive bottom may have looked as though it was 2? The first box that was taken off was the honey super so no need to check at this time. Hope that helps 🐝😊
