Wire cup brush. 1"scraper. Hand wire brush. Drill wire brushes. Have patience. Remove all loose and flakey. Wear a mask safety glasses and goggles. Been under my 07 boxer. Seam sealant failure in places had to be picked off. Sand. Brush pick to your satisfaction. Degrease and clean it properly. Red oxide, Combi colour and then under body sealant
What is red oxide ? And combi colour? Also under body sealant should I go to hardware store or what? Thanks anyway I got the first half and that’s where I am at on my truck
He’s telling us to get them at the same place we get our high tension bolts and duel dipsticks. You know where Woolco is ? Well it’s no where’s near there
@@losttheplot26 just playing bro...weed!
@losttheplot26 clearly I'm here cause I need the Intel..07 Escalade lots of surface
Thanks for that
Rust converters are a joke, if you do a test you will find that it can usually just convert 0.2mm worth of rust, beyond that it will continue to rot, best to use a oil based underseal so it deeply gets into the rust and stops from spreading. Rust remover is better than converter if you must
You're absolutely right that many rust converters only deal with surface rust and simply cover it up. However, the mechanism of FERTAN Rust Converter is quite different. The tannins contained in the product react with Fe3 Oxide (rust) until it's entirely dissolved, effectively removing even large layers of rust. This is less common in the automotive sector due to the thinner sheet metal, but it's often seen in industrial applications or among our marine customers.
Once the product has decomposed the rust layer and encounters Fe2 (bare metal), it complexes a layer of zinc phosphate that protects against further corrosion. This layer can then be painted over with any conventional primer.
We'd be more than happy to provide you with more information about the chemical processes of the product. Please feel free to contact us directly at contact@fertanusa.com for additional details.
lanolin based
@@Teeveepicksures lanolin based stuff are not converters they are undercoat / under seal which is a way better option In my opinion
@@Teeveepicksures No, our rust converter is not lanolin based. If you want more information and the technical datasheet, please get in touch with us via email: contact@fertanusa.com
@@tonygoshive785 That's what I'm saying.
Nice! Wish someone had done this to my car years ago there are huge holes and big chunks falling off ahhh
does the job come with the music too?
Just by looking at the rust it's discouraging like monumental task 😢😮
I asked a body guy about 30 years ago what to use... He said Fertan was the best he found. This is the first time since that I've actually seen it
We are in the USA just since a couple of years but in Euopre since 1979
@@fertanllc1945 This was in Australia. So you've had a presence here for a while.
which sandpaper do you recommend for removing surface rust? I want to get it removed before getting it painted at a shop. Thanks
Was about to say a wire wheel works alot better less chance of pitting etc an boom wire wheel popped up nice job 👊🤟
I’m about to DYI this I love my FJ
I’m planning to do the same to mine 😅 the car is definitely a labor of love.
Welcome to canada.
It can't be stopped but it can be cleaner looking. Drive till the wheels fall off and buy another
Needle scaler works A1 then hit it with sandblaster
What kind of disk and grinding tool are you using?
The customer used a grinding wheel, but it is sufficient to use a wire brush and clean the surface with a silicone remover before applying the rust converter.
No offense but it's not a how to video. It's a before and after video. Do you have a full video on CZcams or somewhere?
Hi, thank you for your feedback. I am absolutely agree with you, we launch a new full video in the next 4 weeks. Is there anything I can help you with and answer some questions?
@@fertanllc1945 do you weld plate in wherever the frame is thin because of grinding off rust?
@@dambroangling2828 If it gets too thin that is recommended, but in this case we didn't do that.
Dismantle the car. Sanblast. Paint. Assemble.
I’m having trouble with the first step. What is it?
we clean the underbody with our rust converter
Thought you were about to just cut all the rusty parts out of the frame 😂😂😂
So for the bottom of the auto what would be the procedure? From start to finish? Sand, brush and then spray this throughout bottom underside?
Step 1: Cleaning with a High-Pressure Washer
To begin the underbody restoration process, it's crucial to start with a clean slate. Use a high-pressure washer to remove any dirt, grime, and loose rust particles from the underbody. Pay close attention to the nooks and crannies, wheel wells, and suspension components. A high-pressure washer will effectively dislodge debris, preparing the underbody for further treatment.
Step 2: Applying Rust Converter and Letting it React
Rust is the archenemy of any vehicle's underbody, but it can be effectively neutralized using FERTAN rust converter. After thoroughly cleaning the underbody, apply the rust converter to any visible rust spots. The rust converter works by chemically converting iron oxide (rust) into a stable compound that can be painted over. Allow the rust converter to react for the recommended time (typically 24 hours) to ensure maximum effectiveness.
Step 3: Washing off the Rust Converter
Once the rust converter has had sufficient time to react, wash off the underbody with water to remove any dissolved rust and residue. Pay close attention to the areas where the rust converter was applied. Use a high-pressure washer or a hose to ensure a thorough rinse. By removing the dissolved rust, you create a clean surface ready for the next step.
Step 4: Applying Stoneguard Protective Undercoating
After cleaning off the rust converter, it's time to provide long-lasting protection to the underbody. Stoneguard protective undercoating is a durable, resin based coating that guards against corrosion, impact, and abrasion. It acts as a barrier between the underbody and road debris, protecting against chips and scratches. Apply the stoneguard undercoating evenly across the underbody, paying extra attention to vulnerable areas like the wheel wells, frame rails, and suspension components.

We are buying them from an agency that produces video content, so we need to check with them about where you can purchase them and who the artist is. I will try to figure it out and let you know.
Can i use a primer?
Yes for sure you can use a primer
Dry ice blasting
Hi can you please send me 1liter bottle from india i will pay you for that
Uh... did I miss the "how to" part of the video? Lame.
This said nothing
What rust? That little surface rust? Try washing it 😂
I know it's kind of annoying but after you wash the grease off.. On all the rubber spray with some rubber treatment of some kind it helps prevent cracks and such
