Thanks so much for coming out Evan! Our next track day is coming up soon. You're always welcome.
Thanks for having us!!
@@VictoriaShanks_ you're welcome. We are working on the invite list for our next one and y'all are on it!
@@WIKDMotorsports sweet!!❤
A bad day at the track is better than a good day on the couch! Good to see you out driving everything again Evan! Congratulations
Few things may help your launch
1. Launch control like you said. It’ll help with being more consistent.
2. Lowering your tire pressure will allow the tire to absorb the shock instead of hopping trying to grip. 8-10psi should work well.
3. Preloading the clutch and not dumping it from complete extension. Preloading the clutch is basically like slipping it while you’re sitting still. It’ll sink the suspension down some, load the trans with some torque and then releasing it slower will soften the shock of torque to the wheels. This will help the wheels not hop, and will keep the engine from shaking as much.
Lastly boost by gear like you said, as well. Def need a little less power off the line. Once you got those down you’ll be golden! I’d suggest a hydro so you don’t push through the clutch while you preload on the line!
Hope this helps! 💪🏼🙌🏼
The civic looked mean backing in the trailer!
Loved the family time at the end man! I grew up at the drag strip and will forever cherish those moments!
I really feel like a mount has to be bad, that thing was BOUNCING
Loved watching this! You need to preload and heavily slip the clutch on the launch, Evan. That's how we launch Civics, no matter the power level. If you dump the clutch, you're guaranteed to be picking up parts at the starting line. Let that twin/triple disc do the work for you - build boost on the 2-step, preload the clutch then slip it out, RPM's will stay high as the car catches up in speed. Good luck, brother
Yesss, CIVIC CONTENT FOR THE WIIIIIIN
Holy shit that was some MASSIVE wheel hop on that second or third launch.
keep your head up man loving the content seems like your finding your groove!
Im excited to see this civic content
Always a happy day at work when Evan posts a video right before i go to lunch
Man that so amazing yall going as a family 🙏
1:50 ok that shot is just nuts haha
Maybe a good poster idea😊
I'm glad to see the Honda on the track! Glad that it broke in a non catastrophic way, so you can improve it without too much effort. Keep up the good work sir!
Spending time with family the way you were able to is priceless. You’re richer than you know when you’re able to do that. I too am blessed with a family of 4. I was just in North Texas last week (Paris) drove past and through DFW and area a few times. Would love to see that track. Meeting you and the family would have been awesome.
Underrated car CZcamsr😮💨😮💨 I’ve been watching for yearssss
there's a reason 😂😂😂
Crazy how I’ve been watching you for years now since high school and you’ve achieved so much. Met you in NJ as well which was a dream of mine since I live in NY. Thank you Evan for the constant uploads and keep up the grind!💪
Good work Evan.
All about the testing and tuning bro! I can't wait to see the egg all dialed in!
hell yea
Seeing the second half of the video with family was the best part
sad to not see more of the civic going down the track but family time at the track is some pretty cool content too. what a dad!!!
lovin the J series content man gotta say she sounds great
Win some and lose some. At least you did something! Love the content!
hell yeah 1 minute ago and my work break just started 🤘
LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
that shit just goes NEWM
That civic haves so much potential
You have a beautiful family, Evan and Victoria. I hope you can fix the Civic soon and make many 9 second runs
Evan having a daddy/daughter day at the track is great! I know you're not a big fan drag racing, but hopefully you go back soon and bring Gabby back to see you make some passes.
I just rewinded again and again and watched the whole interior shake from the burn out 😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey Evan! I thought i'd chime in, i'm by no means an expert, but you really have to preload your axles or add a slipper valve to eliminate the wheel hop/tire shake. The trans coming out of gear was surely a result of this as well. The rad being on the drivers side it's missing the rad stay! Would be easy enough to install a nutsert and fasten it properly, would keep it out of the downpipe that's for sure. Thanks for bringing us along for your ride all these years, look forward to more content!
I just love how j-series sound boosted 🤤🔥
I would try some drag radials to try and sort out the suspension and front grip and then when you can launch it consistently.
Look into the tucked radiators it’ll still fit behind intercooler, good content
My 6spd in my TL pops out on launches too. So irritating when you forget and don’t hold it in gear😂
Honestly looking forward to the trailer overhaul series
Content!
Even though I talk crap about your content lately. Seeing you happy with your girls makes me happy man.
Appreciate the love, but talking crap hurts more than you know 💔
@VictoriaShanks_ unfortunately though that's the business ya'll are in. You have to take it to the chin and move on.
One thing with Hondas I’ve had plenty of buddies break diffs and crack gears ect is to slip the clutch l on launch and not dump you will break stuff on full dump
Bro! this is what I call a great track day. Yes, your passes didn’t go as planned, but you had a fun day with the family and that’s what matters the most. Funny enough my daughter’s name is also Gabriella. I think she’s the same age as yours.
Definitely need to make some adjustments on the suspension to keep them front tires planted after the first hit, it rocks back real quick after thw first shit then you lose traction right away..stiffen up the rear , ease up front compresses, tighten slower Front rebounding?
I love at 1:50 you can see the turbo pulsing with the idle. This little can is awesome to watch.
Also bring back the other civic body and franken-civic into those single digits!
I do love to see you build a new gen viper
Lower tire pressure and full solid mounts
8:42 that bolt looks like the driver side axle bolts. My b series has 3 bolt holding the axle. not to sure about j sires if it’s the same . Maybe the axle was popping out and giving you trouble putting it in gear 🤷♂️
14:22 sounds beautiful 🔥🔥
you could go tucked radiator. company’s make eg tucked radiators that go inside the rad support
There is no hold down on the radiator. And ya u have mount issues for sure. Deff have some work to do. Good luck
From one racer to another. I think your best bet is to pull the motor/trans and go through everything since you didn’t built the car. 👍
Like this if you’ve seen Evan Shanks comment on that v6 swapped scion, I can’t remember the vid but to see you go from commenting about how cool a swap would be to basically doing the same swap but on a Honda is awesome!
Let’s go rrrrrrrrracing
I don't get why it's so hard to cold start on ethanol, maybe if it was freezing outside I would understand. I just got done street tuning my h22 turbo build on e85, I just had to play with the compensation tables a little bit and it will start first crank every time now. You can try raising the cranking enrichment too see if it helps, but it didn't for me. I had to adjust post-start fuel after getting my fuel tables worked out, that did the trick 👍 should all be based on ECT. I had to take away fuel post-start at low ECT and raise it for hot ECT. Apologies if you're already tuned and know this stuff! Just trying to help
Hasport sells 94a red inserts to stiffen up the mounts, looks like you have 62a or 70 something.
With proper engine management and valve train you can rev stock cams to 8500 and still make power plus it’ll rev out 4th gear more
So happto see the "ears" on the kids while at the track
Look at Chase bays tucked radiator set ups
Start by loosening up the grip somewhat, maybe higher pressure in the tyres. then lower it more and more the more comfortable you feel about it holding up!
I never really noticed but the color of this car isn’t bad
How cold was it on the start my car starts like that when it's 30-40°
I like the cars the cars that go vroom 🏎️ 🏎️🏎️
You Need a traction bar to fix the wheel hop
90 vw gti tucked rad on my j series
name one thing greater than spending time at the racetrack with your kids!
Need some solid mounts brother
Okay three things that could have easily avoided this. Number one never dump the clutch. That's why it wheel hopped so bad. Number two never stay in it when it's wheel hopping, let off and let it stop hopping and then get back in it or abort the pass. And number three, if your entire engine looks like the blade of a jackhammer when it's wheel hopping, you need more engine mount lol
Back in 2018 I had the opportunity to drive this hatch went 10.7 at 134mph with a bad 60ft,can send you the Time slip if you want some reference
Is it Definitely white smoke Could it possibly be just steam?
Do a tucked radiator and you’ll be fine 👌
Take those tires off . They are too tall and the rubber compound is too hard . Makes it “grippy” vs “sticky”, if that makes sense. Grippy causes wheel hop, which is rough on mounting point, axels and gearboxes. You’ll have better results with a 24.5” full slick on 13” rims (preferable x10” , but x9 will do. ). You will still spin. But it will be a smoother spin with travel vs violent hop. Also, a mid-plate trans brace would help with the engine movement in the bay. Better mounts won’t hurt either. DP in NJ makes a trans brace that bolts to the mounting point for the bottom trans shield and then bolts to tabs that you’d weld to the traction bar. Car looks good, good luck working out the kinks.
Just sittin and shiddin
Same bud same
hybrid racing sponsor Evan lol
Lots of motor movement imo
Would that be suspension problem? To stiff up front
if you need better traction i saw boosted boy on his red hatch he but a steel plate on the front like a “splitter” extra hundred pound on the front will help a lot
Unfortunate the car broke but can’t wait to see the upgrades done
Two days in a row???? I like this!!!
Change those tires also. Get yourself a set if 13’ slicks
Dandole duro a la civic
Might want to drop tire pressure for the time 😅 it will help a lot with the tire hopping
He talked about that in the last video :)
Need a traction bar 🫡
Migth be better if you can find a radiator that could fit inside the radiator core with a remote filler neck
I hope when your daughter is older you two have a project car. I see the way she looked at the C7
😅😅
The front end of the civic would look sick on a shirt.
Let's Goooo
Tires should have less psi in them so the sidewalls can fold and absorb the launch and not wheel hop so bad
Bro u gotta let air out of them tires lol put them at like 10psi and do a nice burn out that’s why you having so much wheel hop
Are those 15” wheels?
Hey man in the video u posted about 3 weeks ago u mentioned wanting to sell or get rid of the exo civic and I whould love to have it I have watch your video for years and I'm 16 and have been trying to build a drag civic my self but don't really have the money to do it lol but I have some money saved up its not a lot i'm gonna be honest but if we chould work out some kind of deal or payment plan or anything man it whould just make My year but if u caint do anything it's OK I understand but I love the videos keep up the good work and stay happy much love man 😄
So your 1 pass just driving off the line what did you actually run?
Rumor has it, if you ask politely, Evan will pin your comment. Please?
Pin it coach
Hahaha not a pin, but maybe a comment 😂
Get a grip
And this would do…. What?
There’s still hope Richie, there’s still hope. Don’t delete just yet.
man try i to buy a slipper on yours clutch line that was sad to watch
I can't believe how big your daughter is getting.. They grow up so fast... I feel like my daughter was just born... she turned 11 last August.. LOL... Hold them tight!!
❤❤
those motor mounts need some help. Motor shakes so hard.
Need to eliminate your wheel hop forsure prep ve no prep changes alot have a drag honda guy dial in your suspension and bushing setup
I love turbo Hondas and all but those J series are a nightmare man you are probably going to go through a few of them before you go k20 I think that’s why the boostedboiz gave up on the j series even fully built they are not reliable with powet
Get a tucked radiator you’ll be Ight
