*Wow Darren, that's amazing! So much time has passed that they've released Mini 4! I've still got the Mini 2 from back when I initially watched your channel. I'm happy to see there's a major improvement with the Mini 4 though. I tried flying the Mini 2 in the countryside with a hill blocking my range so I only got about 700 meters before I lost it completely and it activated RTH. I wonder if Mini 4 can handle it better*
*Btw, that altitude restriction has also been removed on the Mini 2 in the latest firmware update. I got the option to extend it above 120M*

DJI have definitely considered the thermal performance of the M3P. Three ways to tell, the drone will enter an "ECO" mode if left on for prolonged periods. This turns off obstacle avoidance sensors, gimbal motors etc.
Next the unified ventilation behind the camera and gimbal combined with the spaces through the rear chassis allows easy airflow through the aircraft.

Hey great video... as a pro shooter i have upgraded from mini pro 3 to 4 for D - Log M and shooting in tight spaces around people I also have a Mavic and fly an inspire 2 with my mate. I have a night shoot in an Olympic swimming pool coming up and am wondering what you thing are the dual native ' fusion' ISO settings are ? high and low for the pro 4 ? Id like to shoot in low light in the pool over the swimmer in a beam of light. I can't find them published anywhere. any ideas? thanks.

I’ve decided to hang on to my Mini 3 Pro as I mainly use it for nighttime video/photos of city skylines when I travel. Reason being is that it still has the very last firmware before DJI added Remote ID!

The Integra Goggles firmware V 01.04.0000 and the MC2 firmware V 01.06.0000 had just added support for the Air3. This means that either the Integra and the MC2 supports O4, or better yet, and as expected, the Air 3 offers backward compatibility to O3, which in turn suggests the the same is expected with the Mini 4 Pro, and potentially any future O4 based drone.
Do you think the Air 3 will get the same active track features as the Mini 4 Pro?
I've little experience with using luts, but how do you know which one to use? As all the lut names make little sense 🤷♂️

Batteries also have different output & capacity, so better not to swap them (I am glad that you can identify them by symbols as I already mixed them with mini 3 pro as got confused in the beginning)
I have a nice set of Freewell Filters for my Mini 4 Pro will be testing them soon as always buy these and have them for my Mavic 3 Pro, Mini 3 Pro and Avata
Annoyed to find my M3P filters didn't fit my new 4 but pleased to find you can upload directly from the SD card without turning the drone on.
My biggest concern is the 120m setting as each winter and summer I fly a lot in the Alps, always a lot lower than 120m of terrain but often probably higher than 120m from me.
They limited per EU rules, then removed it (for now, since it isn't required yet) Scary part is they did it OTA -no Firmware install required.

@Matanumi @Matanumi if so, there was no App update either. Philip Skraba covered it in depth. He claimed it allowed 500m with the disclaimer with no updates done on his Controller, Aircraft or App. Just the ability to use the slider up to 500m.

I have flown well above 120m with it. They've lifted it (for now)
I have the same issue but the other way round. I live on top of a cliff edge with a sharp 250m drop. I tend to fly my drone down along the cliff walls to capture sunsets etc. My concern is that should the drone lose signal and start the RTH sequence how will it distinguish where the 120M flight height starts? If it goes up 120M from it's current location it will definitley not be enough to clear the cliff walls resulting in the loss of the drone once the batteries drain from it being stuck stationery in one spot.
This EU law is stupid imo, one should just have a disclaimer claiming responsibilty if they fly above 120M as it was before. It shouldn't be a difficult thing to control since now we will have remote ID etc

I think the waypoints + 360 sensors are vital for everyone who brought their mini 3 to their limits. Doing a POI flight in a narrow terrain could easily bring you a heart attack, while the 4 protects itself. And the waypoints offer a reproduceble or plannable scenario.... just think of you as the drone pilot tasking out a football game. With waypoints you can easily store standard moves before the game and run them when it fits during the game. Soo much options. Ok, you aren't able to plan the waypoints ahead on the map (currently?), but that's really unsave tbh. There are lots of obstacles irl maybe. Better to do it on sight. Cheers.

Hi. Dm. i live in Maryland USA. But grew up in London. Does the obstacle avoidance in the Mini 4 have upper avoidance. meaning that if it’s going vertically up will it stop or avoid an obstacle directly above it? (in know it says 360 though)
Yes, it does; the 4 sensors at the front are angled to capture pitch, yaw, and top, the lower sensors handle the bottom.
Curios. I just purchased the mini pro 4 fly more combo plus. First thing I did when unboxed was weigh it with the supplied battery in. It weighed 291grams. Does this mean my scales are faulty or would this be correct. Also does this mean I need to register it or something, which I did not want to have to do hence buying this model. Are you able to explain for me please. thanks in advance.
good video as usual. you‘ve just missed to mention the combination „mini 4 pro - rc-n2“. why would that be important? now, i‘m using the mini pro models for mapping so i need 3rd party apps like the dronelink-app for being able to have exact automatic flight paths. with the rc that function is not possible, the rc pro doesn‘t work with the mini 4 pro yet, so the rc-n2 is the right and only possible one for me. you get much more functionality for professional tasks with it than with the rc.

Not in Europe. It may be possible in UK but can't confirm. For sure it is possible in US.

If your fly area is windy and the weight is not an issue - Air 3.
If drone weight is an issue and on your flight path it's not windy - Mini 4 pro.

Not until they release the SDK for it. It took 11 months for them to release it on the M3P. Maybe as they're so similar it will be a quick release this time but who knows, I just bought a M3P for that reason.
Does anybody know how many in-built antennas does the drone have? Does it have the same antenna layout as the mini 3 pro?
When should I stop doing firmware updates? I haven’t done one since July and I don’t want to screw up and do one when I shouldn’t. But I would also like to do what I can before they make the change. I was about to sell mine on eBay so I can get the mini 4pro. But I am going to wait to sell it now.

Why mini 3 and 4 have video recording limit of 4 minutes and then file is closed, new file is opened ? Around 3.67 GB limit ?
In a court of law it would be difficult to argue over a couple of grams of weight having weighed a drone in the field. How accurate are the scales? Were they calibrated? How were they calibrated? What surface was used to place the scales on? Was the result within a range of error? Was the weighing procedure carried out in accordance with a protocol and can it be shown that it was done correctly? Were there any other factors that could have led to an erroneous result?
Question I have for dji: I own the Integra/Motion2 controller with my Mini 3 Pro, DJI just recently updated the Integra/motion2 to work with the Air 3 which is OS4+. Will the Mini 4 Pro be updated to also work with the Integra/Motion 2? Currently it's only thing stopping me from buying the 4 Pro.

Great video. Many thanks answered so many questions. I just did the dji survey when I received my mini 4. When they adked for ways of improving their drones I said they could start by improving compatibility with things like filters. Like everyone else, I now need to buy more freewell nd filters. It just seems in one hand we can use the batteries (although it takes it over the weight limit) in the other we need to spend more money. Great honest video once again and so helpful. Now I need to hide the mini pro 4 from the wife in the cupboard with the Avata and FPV😂😂😂😂 I need a bigger cupboard😂😂😂
Lucky the design evolved rather than dramatically different! My wife hasn’t noticed the change from the mini 2 to the 3 pro and now to the 4 pro! Let’s be thankfully to DJI for that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm having such an incredible tough time deciding between the mini 4 pro and the air 3. The one down side holding me back from mini 4 pro is the wind resistance. A lot of the times i'm going to be having the drone stand still and hover while recording so i'm kind of also worried about it overheating while it's just flying in place for long periods of time. I currently own the air 2 and previous owner of air 1. That vertical shooting for youtube shorts and instagram is a great feature that the mini 4 pro has over the air 3.

As a newbie, is the altitude based on altitude distance above the controller, rather than actual altitude from sea level?
Altitude you take off from currently. Extremely fukt is you are flying in a hilly area.
Afternoon Darren, when I bought my mini 4 pro I also got the three filters. One thing I was annoyed about was that I bought 2 year care refresh. But I asked if I could have the year I had left on my mini 3 pro transferred to my new mini 4 and it was a definite NO. I’m in a huff.
Keep the cheat sheets coming, I still use mine and there brilliant. I carry them with me all the time, it only takes a minute to make sure I have the right settings to take a picture or video so keep them coming. Have a good week and I look forward to your next informative video. Thank you ❤

You definitely can't transfer the care refresh if selling, it specifically says so in the T & C's. I managed to get a £20 store credit for my remaining 8 months care refresh when I sold my mini 3 pro, better than nothing.

Another Mini 4 question: If you create a Waypoint plan, do need use the same takeoff location when reusing that plan in the future?
I've heard other CZcamsrs saying yes you do.
@@jimbernard3289 Maybe Darren can clarify my question. My testing showed that you could takeoff at a different location and fly to the first Waypoint and complete the Waypoint plan. Maybe there are limitations of getting to saved flight plans. Clarification?
Flight plan turns off object avoidance. I'd say no.
Through I don't always agree "with some "of the people on CZcams about their reviews I DO however Agree on everything you have mentioned on this one 👍👍 you have pointed out some really good valid points absolutely spot-on. 10/10 .
DJI really do like to mixing things up don't they across the whole of the range sometimes they must be on a different planet . No wonder people do get annoyed .. including myself ... hopefully software updates across the different controllers and different drones will levelled it up ... thanks for the video update great job ❤
Get an air-grinder (or any other type) and shave 2.1g of the very tips of the outside edge corners (being carefully to to go through the casing) of the M3P batteries and that will make them weigh the same as those with the M4P 😆

No. My bike mount for the dji rc doesn’t work with the dji rc 2. It is terrible tho so still waiting for a decent mount

Does it have a 1" sensor?
For a very short time I was pleasantly surprised to see a blade holder included. That was until I came to refitting the damned thing. Bloody awful and it's now tossed aside. The one from my Mini 3 Pro fits, so another has just arrived to use on the 4. Also, while waiting for 4 accessories, the landing gear extension from the 3 fits the 4. This is the type with the rubber strap attachment and 4 legs which fold open and I use it all the time on the 3. It fits but the underside light is partially blocked. Not a problem, and it will do until a dedicated 4 version appears.
Is there any way to stream from mini 4 pro ?
I just bought a mini pro4 my firmware up date was 1800mb then 800mb then 400mb took 8 hours had to plug in my done and the controller the drone got way hot so before it got a problem i put a fan on it and it cooled right down
The Mini 4 Pro is a HUGE STRETCH better than the Mini 2. I just upgraded and I'm really excited about all the new features in the Mini 4 Pro!

I was going to upgrade to the mini 4 pro, the Air 3, or the MAVIC 3 pro.
Since they don’t support mapping software I’m going to stick to older drones that do and also don’t Geo fence me.
In addition, the inability to use an existing controller with the mini 4 pro or Air 3 is a deal breaker as well.
Apparently I more DJI drones for me even though I love my two current ones.

I almost bought the Mini 3 Pro. I'm glad a waited. I think Santa may leave a Mini 4 Pro in my stocking this Christmas.
Just to add, in case people are wondering; no, the 120 m restriction won't come to *all* sub 250g drones. Only the ones that take advantage of a C0 classification, which are Mini 2 SE, Mini 3/Pro, and Mini 4 Pro. Other drones will fall into the legacy category, and without a C0 classification, there's no reason to impose that restriction.
Also, the same applies to C1.
Any drone that is released on the market in the EU after 1/1 2024 however, will have to have a C classification, otherwise it cannot be flown in the open category and A1/A3 airspace.
Can I clarify that if you own a non-C labelled
@@Ad_Alta You will not "escape" it, at least not on paper.
Those drones will be able to fly in "A1 restricted", however I've yet to find a definition of what that is.
Also, legacy sub 250g drones can only fit in this category if they have a declared MTOM of 249g or lower. No drones carry this declaration that are not C0 already. Therefore legacy sub 250g drones will only be allowed in the A3 category.
On paper, that is.

its 120m / 400ft above the ground your standing on. So if walking up a big hill or mountain you can adjust the max height accordingly

Is the 120m limit a hard limit in the app? Last week I took my Mini 2 to a mountain area and I kept 120m FROM THE GROUND but the hill goes up 350m so technically, I was at 470m from the takeoff location. Is that a limitation for the Mini 3 and 4 Pro? That is, would I have to land and take off again in increments to get to the top of that mountain? With the Mini 2 I just increased the limit to 500m and kept it at about 100m manually as I went up.
Yeah from 2024 it’ll be 120m hard limit from take off point but that’s just in EU
@@DMProductions I guess in that case, I would have to take off from the top of the mountain and then fly down to avoid that issue. It is kind of dumb unless they implemented a way for the drone to know it is at 120m from the ground and not from take off. It would not be hard to do if either the bottom sensor could sense that far (120m) or the software use the GPS coordinates to decide the max altitude at that particular point.

Interesting that they currently do not offer the Mini 4 as a 'drone only' purchase! If I had an Air 3 I would be quite aggrieved that I would be forced to buy it with a controller I don't need...
Exactly the situation I am in. I recently purchased the Air 3 and I would love if DJI would offer the "drone only" purchase. I would love to have the sub 250 gram addition being I live by an airport. The new controller works amazing and I have had no connection issues at all.
The whole new O4 causes them to not support old systems....
All because of that 5.2 band....something autel already did for a long time
