(I had two mics on me, but I specifically used the Lav audio source for this entire video. The other mic was a backup.)
Note: At the moment, I haven't yet found a good DJI RC2 (controller with built-in screen), as the existing DJI RC1 remote holders compatible.
In this test I show how the new ActiveTrack 360 feature works on the DJI Mini 4 Pro, including both in open conditions and with trees. I also dive into the different FocusTrack settings for the ActiveTrack 360 feature.

Very impressive in the tricky tests. 99% of users will never try to do what you have shown us and so the avoidance capabilities in play are likely to be more than sufficient for most flyers.
Lol. I don't think you know many drone users then. Skydio (RIP) users put their units through things like this gauntlet pretty much every time they launch.

Depends what you hit. A tree with leaves and a bush underneath wont break it. But run in to a wall 4 feet above the ground at like 2 mph... busted..... but you cant really blame dji because these are made to stay under 250 grams which is quite difficult. You wamt something that can crash hard and be fine get there new fpv@caseyeberle7998

I had contemplated on the skydio but they made the decision for me when the announced that they were going away from consumer drones.
It's absolutely remarkable that DJI has evolved their camera drones that much in only a few short years. When professionals were discussing the DJI mini when it first came out, no one imagined it would become this good. It wasn't even considered possible. The mini 4 pro represents an incredible technological achievement.
in just a few years it's already gotten here, imagine another 5 years at this pace bruh, we'll get self flying drones before self driving cars
@@PandaBearShenyu i think itll reach its peak soon. A bit like smartphones first arrived every upgrade was huge, now its tiny incremental upgrades. I think the drones are still quite early in its development stage, but i 5 years down the line it will be tough to continually have such huge leaps

The best review of Mini 4 Pro so far. I'm still impressed with it's obstacle avoidance performance. Now, I just have to save some bucks to buy.
I'm not impressed at all seeing how poorly it did with avoiding.. he was lucky.. I may not be, so on hold my decision to buy it.
Hey just a suggestion, but there are retailers offering 0% financing 12 monthly payments (for the flymore package) . So like 100 bucks a month, no interest for a year. Great deal for this amazing tech if you ask me!
From what i've seen watching a lot of reviews, if you activate the low to the ground mode, with your tree gauntlet, it works drop down low (less limbs at base of trees than top) and performance tracking should be a lot smoother

This must be one of the most impressive tests I've ever seen. Great work, DC Rainmaker. It handled itself well despite the extreme tests you put on the little guy. I am surprised the Mini 3 Pro did better in obstacle avoidance scenarios.
However, nothing beats Skydio2! Too bad they left the consumer market.

Dji whooped their asses and donald could not get a grasp at dji.. however there are some oncoming issues with dji law in the future do your research

I'd say this is more than an incremental improvement over the Mini 3 Pro. Excellent for what you used it for here. Yeah, those little leafless branches are the bane of even the best OA. Thin power and phone lines too.
My mini 3 pro never hits branches like that in those lighting conditions. Let's see if the fish eye sensors compromise forward obstacle avoidance a little.
To be very honest, I actually have footage from my Mini 3 Pro tracking me on my scooter, flying at top speed just above thin power lines in Sicily. It's scary looking back at the footage. But I gotta say, the Mini 3 Pro consistently handled the thin power lines well during my journey. At the same time, let's give DJI alittle more time to iron out all the kinks as this is a brand new drone and has a slightly different layout of the sensors to the Air3 & Mavic
Yup even in manual mode I was following a river with my mini 3 and I narrowly misses a powerline in a section that was not in my line of site was very lucky could barely see it on the inflight cam feed

OMG! This sent shivers up my spine as I can still recall clearly when I tried something similar with my Mini 3 Pro. One required a climb up a tall conifer to retrieve it and the other resulted in 7 of the blades shattered!😖

I think finally we have a Skydio beater. I figured the 3 might be good enough but didn’t go for it. I’m now ordering the mini Pro 4. Not even waiting for the famous wind test around the light house 😊

My dad had a Staaker drone that used a wristband to both follow objects and record audio- e.g. the audio became part of the footage by default. It didn't have object sensing capabilities, and long story short, it crashed into a tree as he was recording a video. It's nice to see advancements in the general industry- even if not every drone has every advantage(yet?).

Just took delivery of the mini 4 pro fly more combo today, all set up and charged, I can't wait to fly it when the weather is right, I did have a Parrot Bebop 2 so coming to this drone us a massive step up

Loved your video and presentation style. I will say, when you were using the 3D map at round 5:20 that was a perfect opportunity for a quick VoiceOver introducing the 3D map feature rather than text alluding to something upcoming. Plenty of empty spaces, and you are demonstrating a perfect use case for this feature.

That’s so much better and pretty amazing. I need to upgrade for sure. The skinny branches without leaves are hard for a pilot with FPV goggles to see even with digital, so no surprise there but as you say, its response to that situation was odd. Don’t go up! 😂

I love the mini 3 pro, I've taken it to countless weddings over the summer and finally crashed it a week or so ago (pretty big one, had to have the care refresh replacement) and honestly even then I wasn't mad at the tracking, more just my stupidity about flying in low light conditions. I'm fully with you on the forward sensors, not once have I had my drone hit anything front on, its always been at the side or clipping the edge from behind.
Considering how they started off, they have come such a long way, I'm honestly surprised that more people don't pick the mini's up compared to the bigger air/mavics.

Brilliant demonstration 👏👏, I keep thinking of getting a drone and this one seems perfect for what I would use it for like slow wide river kayaking and open moorland hikes and dog walks, now if only it had voice commands for distance, altitude and tracking positions. 🤔👍❤️🇬🇧

Just taken delivery of my 4 Pro. Off to Scotland tomorrow and once the storms have finished will be putting the little drone through its paces in the Galloway forest. Like you the first thing was to sign up to care refresh. Had my Mini 2 for nearly three years and never crashed it. Just hope all of the protection on the 4 Pro doesn't induce complacency.

Thanks for showing the collision avoidance in such detail! I have trouble using a Mini 3 in densely packed forest for doing surveys so I wanted to know whether it would be worth upgrading to a Mini 4 Pro. None of the other reviews I've seen so far put the obstacle avoidance system to the test so this was really informative, especially showing what some of its limitations are.
Absolutely worth the upgrade, the omnidirectional avoidance is amazing. I crashed my mini 3 pro due to a small branch to the side, which it couldn't pick up. Not fun, but it let me upgrade!
