- Pattaya city is home to many businessmen and in this video I talk to nick Dean from the Assienda Bar about what live is really like here owning a business. Not only does Nick have two bars here in Pattaya City but he also has a very successful CZcams Channel NDTVi.
Pattaya City has so much to show and talk about and of course a huge selection of Bars to choose from. So what makes a bar successful and how easy is it to run a CZcams channel?
In this video Nick shares about his 3 years here in Pattaya and what the future holds for this city we call home as well as other little nuggets of advice etc. If you like videos on Pattaya City and all this magical place has to offer then you should enjoy our channel here at Buzzin Pattaya.

Trev & Nick, fantastic interview and a great insight into Pattaya life - met Nick two or three times over the last two years or so, once
in Nickis on soi buakaow when he was filming the breakfast vlog for his channel with little nick and later the same day at Mcdoners
and an absolute gent - thank you trev 🇬🇧🙏
Thanks mate
Thailand has had its day.ive got over 10 million baht invested in property over there and it’s just a holiday home for me from now on.i don’t know of a single person who wants to go there anymore.lets face it that the place is way too expensive.
You got it, 10 mil is a lot of dough, any chance of getting that back if you chose?
Prices have shot up for sure mate
@@Buzzinpattaya massively. And the exchange gone south too
You dont know even one person that still wants to go to Thailand... 🤔🙄🤥
You now know one person - me! What a load of drivel......
Hi Trevor & Nick another great interview with a nice guy I watch his channel, a lots of people don’t realise that there are many hard working expats living and working in Thailand. You need a lots of courage to move to a completely different culture and make news friends and a new life. I myself left home at 21 years old to travel and see the world been a quality motor mechanic also helped with work visa permits
It took me to many countries and many career changes but like you both I fell in love with Thailand and its culture and food variety as Nick said. Hopefully the bars and entertainment open soon so we can all have a beer or two, I am also so sorry for these poor homeless people especially if it’s a family or kids it’s a shame. Thank you guys again Cheers Irish Paul
Thanks mate, yeah it is not as easy as people seem tot think
Another brilliant one trev and Nick so good to hear positive news from pattaya keep up the good work thanks to you both 🇹🇭 🇹🇭 👍 😊
Thanks mate
Good friendly interview & advice with no “CZcamsrs” rivalry
between Trevor & Nick. Best wishes to both of them & keep
the channels: Buzzin Pattaya & NDtvi commentaries coming…….
Thanks mate
Trev and Nick. Two of the hardest working vloggers in Pattaya. Great chat. Thanks guys. Cheers. Tom⚒
Thanks mate much appreciated
Two guys who do so much for the pattaya community
Thanks
Another informative video guys. Great work !
Thanks again!
Nicks a top bloke.met him a few times in 2019 for songkran and also for a few drinks with him in Assienda.im aiming for 3 weeks over Christmas and new year.hopefully everything will be open up fuly then.you and Nick have a good chemistry there when doing the videos.yous should do more together.possibly a walk round video.
Yeah nice guy mate for sure
Hes a top guy Nick. Really nice fella and runs a great bar. Worth a visit.
Indeed
Assienda was the last bar on my last night in Pattaya, early January 2019 before the pandemic took hold. I will definitely be frequenting Nick’s bar again on my return. Hopefully not too long to wait now. ❤️🇹🇭
Apologies January 2020 I mean 😪
Nice one mate
Great Vlog Trev, really enjoyed the two part chat! Hopefully things get better soon muckaa!
Thanks mate much appreicated
Good honest discussion abt Patts and bars currently and the future etc…great to see a link to the Hacienda and Sankeys soap Mcr. Can’t see soi 7/8 being revived as had their days abt 10 yrs ago as been dead since LKM, MIT and Treetown taken off really well. Prime beach area for condo hotel development. Thai PM saying 120 days for reopening with no quarantine so that’s more mid Oct/ Nov until tourists are back.
Thanks mate
A really good interview Trevor, both of you guys are pretty clued up regarding Pattaya,🙏for the video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it mate cheers
Yes was called The Butchers Arms, was actually an Irish bar, been in quite a few times, loved it as the owner never let any sellers in so you could eat a meal in peace, watched a few footy games in there as well
Thanks mate
I started my Pattaya adventure on soi 8 back in 1994 at the old high-five hotel on that soi was a lot of fun back then you doing a a great job thanks J
Nice one
Great interview Trevor, positive stuff which is nice to hear. I've had 2 vaccines so just waiting for the green light. But if it's December or later I'll probably need a booster 🤔😏 Anyhow I'm sure Pattaya will recover, God bless the Thai people who have suffered and rely on tourism 🙏
Thanks mate
Great stuff! Enjoying your vids keeps me going through lockdown.
Thanks mate
I don’t know if you speak the language nick but it is the best thing to do your right start little and work your way up 2 million is a good figure it’s great that you took the leap nick and it payed off just hope everything comes back better for you nick

Hi Trev
It was the Butchers Arms
Thanks mate
Awesome work Trev - really enjoy your content mate
Thanks mate much appreciated
I’m a mate of Jim his previous partner, would’ve been good to hear a little more about “him having enough of Thailand” there’s a lot more to that throwaway comment and hopefully he told you that off camera. Notice that a lot of people seen with him in his videos are suddenly never mentioned again. Little Nick and the bloke from Penang for example and that’s the first reference to Jim for over 18 months.
In all honesty mate I never discussed this sorry
It's like little Nick never existed the vlogs they did together were the reason the channel was successful. The meet up nights at Extra bar were not mentioned. It's only because of the past successful history of the channel that Nick was able to sign the contract with Martin's organisation.
all buried in the basement of the assienda...
Why don't you,as a friend of Jim, enlighten us as to the reason he left. As far as other people in his previous videos goes why should he later mention them in his new videos. Partnerships and friendships part but don't have to keep reminding people of them
Nick and Jim are still good friends and talk regularly, not sure why watching You Tube makes you think you have ownership over someone's personal business. If you don't like someone then fine, keep your oar out
There seems to be a small boom in Cannabis cafes and some new coffee/restaurants catering to Thais and the Instagram crowd! Would be great to see Nick travel to India, South America etc and get his perspective of those places, I’ve been to most of those country’s plus a few in Africa enjoyed them all.
Yeah fair shout mate
hello Trev, great vlog, very interesting interview, you and Nick are my 2 favourite Pattaya youtubers.
Wow, thanks!
@@Buzzinpattaya credit where credit is due, keep up the good work mate.
Great video as always Trevor I hope soi 7 and 8 do recover so love them sois
Yeah me too mate

Well done Trev.

Butchers Arms.......great interview from two great characters of Pattaya, well done guys
Thanks mate
Yes let’s look to the future being bright , great chat guys
Thanks mate
Great video Trevor. Really enjoyed.
Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic video trev , nicks a good egg . Your getting good at this lol 👍🇬🇧
Thanks 👍
I think soi 7 and 8 will be back . Soi 7 first because it’s not so run down and the new hotels have to help , then Soi 8 because owners will have to drop the rents / key money to attract new businesses. A little is better than nothing ! Good video Trev , I will always talk good about Nick as once I was in
I Rovers and I wanted to find somewhere I asked Nick not only did he tell me how to get there he took the time to sketch the route for me .. Top Man 😘😘
Yeah something has to be there so maybe leave it as it is
Thais dropping key money and rent . Maybe a small % will but not many mate . Its a face thing rather than a business thing . Hope you are right though . New blood is what's needed .
Not a chance. Nothing like it was 20 / 15 years ago . The location means it will become hotels . The old patts is done and dusted
@@grahammurray7426 truth of it all is no one knows !!
Great second half Trev, two legends of Pattaya 😁
haha cheers mate
Great talk, mate, from the both of you.
Thank you so much
Soi 7 started going downhill when the Worldwide, Aussie bar went, thank god for the New Plaza, does anyone know if Ian"s still on the go with the Market Cafe? top bloke.
Fair shout mate
I hope 7 and 8 come back. Great sois.
agreed
Butchers Arms used to be my local "Timeout Place" whilst staying at the Hunny Pot (Runway Bar now) when Brisbane Al ran it...
Nice shout
Whatever happens with soi 7 the A7 bar will be a big success because of ndtvi. Just like the Buzzin Bar will be successful when that materialises no matter where it is. Nick or Trevor could put a bar in Action Street and it would be busy. That's the power of CZcams.
Thanks mate appreciate your support
As an ex 90's raver, i was wondering if there was a connection to Manchester...thanks for the clarification!. Nice one Trev!.
Cheers mate
Hes stoke by the sounds of it
Me too Paul. I'm from Manchester. Think nick ran the Golden night there. My mate had a recording studio above sankeys. Good club.
@@grahammurray7426 yeah he is.
Butcher's arms , Pattaya Barry Sherman was the owner there years ago
Cheers mate
Unfortunately these really poor people that work in the black economy. They have had no support from the local government.
It's upsetting because it's just not people. It's whole families living in disused abandoned entertainment bars and retail shops.
Even more reason to come to Thailand and support the small retail units that are open.
If people don't start coming now Pattaya will take years to recover.
Agreed
I've had to man up and since Misses been out of work I've fully supported her including Mama and Kid (School fees etc.) Hopefully this wont last too much longer,But I will not see her and my extended family suffer while I'm doing OKee out here in the west of England. -'The Situation' wont last forever , we will.. Peace . Loving your work..
Hate to say this but TL is well and truly past its best days and sell-by date as a major tourist destination and I don't think I'm the only one with that mindset. Its former mystique has been partially annihilated thanks to the internet.

Thanks for the video fella's. Nick you mentioned you come from Stoke did you used to go to Shelley's night club in Longton back in the day ?
Take care Guys.

Great interview. I totally agree with you both on facebook. I just did 30 days in facebook jail a few months ago and all I did was shared an opinion on something that turned out to come true later after I had already done my 30 days. Trev, you and Lucas on Rides4kickz should each interview each other.
Yeah lot its appeal for me now
Loved the chat but personally cannot see Soi 7/8 returning anything like what it was like pre-C19 sorry, would love it to but reality it is history but hope there will be some business to keep the old Anna Jet bar going as great memories for me.
Yeah agreed
Good to see you two get along. I honestly thought that you avoided each other.

Got to be honest ,this why i subscribe to Nicks channel (i don't watch the live streams)Totally honest ,and that goes along way in my book ,so hope it works out for him 👍And he hit the nail on the head 100% on not having a Hobby if living there .Seen to many expats drinking their days away 🤦♂️Hidden camera's are horrible for the women on cam not knowing they are 🤦♂️But if i catch you two filming me half cut talking to a LB on some random soi god help ya 🤬55 jesting
Nice one mate
Soi 7 soi 8 has been on the decline for years can’t see it coming back
Yeah not a go to place for me unless songkran
I can see a resuregence in tourism coming over the next few years. Inflation will ruin the exchange rates for Thailand and generate an influx of pent up tourism. Cheap backpacking and packed out bars and beaches will return to Thailand. I also agree with Nick, I cant see Soi 7 & 8 disappearing, its too old and established.
Just hang on in there guys.
P.S. I agree with Nick about the food. Ive never been anywhere with a better selection of food than Pattaya/Bangkok.
I hope many return
Could one of you do a video that shows where these sois are?
Not walking street or soi 6,7,8 but Diana, chiaproom, bukhow, diamond,BJ lenke etc
a walk around video with a map on screen?
You all talk about these sois and bars but I don’t think most visitors know where they are.
I would love to visit Nicks bar but I haven’t got the 1st idea where it is and my next trip will be my 15th trip!!
So god help newbies.
Yeah can do mate
Great Interview Trev. Yes, I have been a subscriber to Nicks's channel for a while now.
August would be very cool I am booked for November so hopefully 🤞
Sounds great!
Good interview guys....really enjoyed it !!! PATTAYA DOG GROOMING SALON....Soi Khao Talo.
Nice push lol
@@Buzzinpattaya Cheers Trev...appreciate all that you do and always love your great videos !
The Phuket sandbox (as you talked about) is more or less a gimmick. It's a MORE expensive Quarantine. Certificate of entry, covid tests, staying at approved/mandatory hotel, flight, insurance, AND extra cost of Phuket and extra costs getting to Pattaya or elsewhere.
2 year ago I went Jomtien, $700usd flight, $200usd condo. NOW.. $3500usd after all the expenses.
Curtis.. now in Mexico with NO restrictions.. maybe Thailand after November.
Thanks for sharing
Well done Trevor & Nick enjoy your coverage and info particularly while we are locked out keep up the good work 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video guys
Thanks so much!
Really food? Fish&chips with gravy haha i was waiting for you to stun him with that lol. good show guys . Hey maybe you could do a small food drive for the homeless he was talking about .
I have done a few of these type of videos.....
Trev.....I think the old bar on Soi Buhkao is The Butcher's Arms.
Ring any bells?
Thats the one mate cheers
The butchers arms is now prime burger, I often ate there, never busy but the food was good.
Thanks for sharing
Interesting to hear how little his channel makes. I think it's because your channels are kinda non advertiser friendly lifestyle channels. Would be a lot different advertising rates for a "clean" financial channels.
Yeah am sure there are some big bucks to be made out there by some
IMO even if the beer bar complexes on Soi 7 & 8 are replaced by hotels or a shopping complex (I'm surprise they haven't been demolished already), the bricks and mortar bars like Nicks will do OK. There's enough Hotels (plus any new ones) for the few bricks and mortar bars to get plenty of trade when the borders finally open.
When people come on holiday they don't usually stick around the bars next to their hotels they usually use them as a starting or finishing part of their night out.
@@grahamjohnson4702 many do that (myself included), but many of the soi 8 bars had soi 8 hotel guests as regulars customers.
Thanks mate
Trev,
No point in mentioning the name of the pub now as it's in the comments from hours ago.
As for Nick seems like a decent bloke and I wish him well with the 2 bars.
I used to drink in PJ DJ bar soi 7 before he took it over, However I think Nick missed a trick by not moving from soi pothole to Treetown especially when the beach club opens up there.
Trev, if my memory serves me correctly wasn't there a bit of angst about your channel from some of the people at the Assicenda towards you when you attended for Kev's memorial.
Anyway I'm sure all thats in the past now.
regards🇨🇮☘️😁
Gotcha mate
great interview

Part 1John here! 👍😆
Welcome
I wondered what happened to Jim, he featured in a few of Nicks vids, quite a quiet chap!
Never knew him myself mate
Thanks for the thumbs up
No problem 👍
I don't quite see the logic of this observation that fewer tourists in the future will mean higher prices and more high-end hotels and bars. Fewer tourists must mean more budget bars and hotels to make tourist numbers grow. Remember wealthy travellers can go so many places other than Thailand, and the tourism industry of Thailand started exactly because Thailand was cheap.
Thailand will no doubt increase prices, that is their logic
@@Buzzinpattaya "Their logic" okay. But they will even fewer tourists with higher prices. That's the logic of the market.
It was the Butchers Arms. Barry was the owner. And I was the manager of Pooks Bar. Before. It went. Very lady boyish. And I was offered the job. Of managing. Hotties club. When it first opened. Those Were The Days.

The filming.. hit nail on the head, "show some respect" these people wandering the streets filming people are intruding on people's privacy nothing more or less.
Yes. And some vloggers don't understand why some people don't want to be on camera.

The irony of making a video of the homeless people in Pattaya for your CZcams channel that pays for your Thai health insurance...
I am sure Nick will help these people
I know Nick he's a really nice guy . I really hope he gets through this very difficult time..
If anyone can survive Nick can, but the prospect of mass tourist arrivals this year looks very very bleak..
By next year what will be left ??
Yeah great guy and as you said tough times
The same can be said for anywhere in the world. Thailand will bounce back; it always does! Currency crash, tsunami, financial crisis, and now Covid. Thailand *always* bounces back.
wondered where the name came from if it was a throw back , laughed when you said about Sankeys Soap friends of mine played there we use to rent an apartment and party all weekend with the decks set up, the good old days godskitcken, miss moneypennys and afterpartys showing my age now lol
Some great name drops there mate
Have to say love the fresh food with the variety and range from restaurants to food carts, Even staying for months at a time only used the cook top 4-8 times because the weather was horrendous outside. Any other time dinner at night with a beer and people watching is far better but cheaper which means less items you need to buy when you do the weekly shopping.
Nice shout there mate cheers
I always struggled to remember the name of the Butchers Arms even when it was still a pub, regret never actually going inside for a beer, always seemed to look empty which was probably its downfall.
Yeah I guess so it was never a busy when I went in there
Great interview trevor must agree with Nick the food in Thailand is worth the flight price alone the weather girls etc etc comes 2nd ps I remember Sankey soaps 555
Love Thai food
Agree Facebook sucks and I’m always in jail! If you’re a conservative and say anything you’re gone!
Totally agree
I agree with Nick, there will be less tourism in the future.
The poorer westerners will not be able to afford anylonger to come to Thailand.
Yeah a strong possibility, but let's hope not
Flight prices will have a big say if stay low
@@pb2067 I expect flight prices to end up 50% up of 2019 prices. Less airlines, less flights, airlines recovering losses, higher airport charges to airlines for coron virus testing facilities etc. Oil price has gone up so aviation fuel price will go up.

Why on earth would anyone want to eat English food (whatever that is) in Thailand? And every night?!? Did you take your own HP Brown Sauce? Geez.....
Prime Burger used to be The Butcher’s Arms, so you were close, just the wrong profession. At least you didn’t call it The Candlestick Maker’s Arms, 😂
Hahahahahaha brilliant mate
butchers arms was the name before prime burger
Thanks mate
So people are to fly for 12-20 hours, on expensive flights, (ignore quarantine issues) and one of the best things this place then offers is to eat "falang" food at a premium price?. Oh dear, i'm not the only one that will see a flaw in that option.
lol
When i'm on a 3 week holiday in SEA, i never eat western food, i can choose daily between Thai, Indian, Korean, Japanese. The only thing i like during my vacation is bread..But for Nick its all about living there, and homesick to Steak and mash potatoes, once a while.
I don’t think things are going to change with tourism anytime soon. Most Govnts around the world have done nothing until its too late and now we are stuck with rolling lockdowns, low vaccination rates and triple mutant variations. Even if thailand opened up tomorrow I wouldn’t risk rubbing shoulders with masses of chinese package tourists and budget indian mongers. I don’t travel without insurance for medical coverage and the prospect of being stuck in a third world hospital system is a nightmare.
Yeah agreed tough times ahead for sure
