  • This baked filo pastry samosas recipe is alternate to the traditional deep fried samosas. Instead of kneading my own dough I am using a store bought vegan filo pastry. Samosa is arguably the most popular Vegan Indian Snack and you can find it at almost every corner in India. Traditionally filled with spiced potatoes - which is the version one I am making today :) Enjoy!
    Ingredient List:
    - Filo Pastry (4-5 sheets for 6-7 samosas)
    - Potatoes - 400g
    - 1 medium size onion (chopped)
    - 2 tbs vegetable oil
    - 1tsp cumin seeds
    - 3-4 garlic cloves (minced)
    - 1 green chilly (optional)
    - 1tsp ground coriander/ coriander powder
    - 1tsp garam masala
    - 1/2 tsp turmeric
    - 1/2 tsp red chilli
    - Salt (to taste)
    - Vegan butter or oil for brushing the filo pastry

      You can basically fill them with your favorite savoury filling ;) Try Mexican style black beans for example.

    mmm this looks so yummy! I love samosas but I usually don't buy them because they are deep-fried. I should try making them myself! I love this healthier alternative!

      Yeah, exactly they are not the healthiest snack! Baking them barely uses any fat and you don't miss out on crispiness.

    Ok, can we talk about that crispy crunch when you broke it apart? Looks so yum, I love samosas but have never known how to make them. Love how you added the beans too.

    • @spicenplants6650
      @spicenplants6650  Před 4 lety

      Yeah the crunch was so soothing! The best part about samosas is that you can add pretty much anything. From crumbled tofu to Mexican spiced beans. Whatever your imagination desires ;)

    omg I love indian cuisine and they usually have a lot of veg options which is great! can these be made good without oil?

    • @spicenplants6650
      @spicenplants6650  Před 4 lety

      Absolutely! In this recipe I didn't use any oil. Just some vegan butter to seal the filo pastry. You can also use plant based milk instead of vegan butter.
