Me and a couple of friends did the direct route a few days earlier in 39 hours with no sleep but you guys endured such shitty weather, respect. I feel you guys, and the punctures, such soul crushers.
Lol, that looked like a tough ass ride, but Maven actually looked pretty fresh throughout.
Was very surprised you chose to go 450km on the first day with newbies at bike packing. I did exactly the same ride 4 weeks ago but had to stop at the Royal Mail in Dunkeld for the night after my knees started playing up.
Kudos to everyone involved, you do indeed learn alot about your own limitations and that's big part of the adventure managing all of it.
Nice vlog Mark. Much respect. We cheered you on during the rainy section near Willalooka. Hope that built up some spirits.

Awesome video mate, was great to really see what you guys went through in those few days. Wish I could be with you all on an adventure like that, on the other side of the world. I find it very hard to understand why there are so many problems with driver/cyclist incidents when there seems to be such an amazing cycling culture, especially in Melbourne, with your club rides, cafes and car park crits. Chuck in the weather and it just seems like a perfect place to live as a passionate cyclist. Looking forward to your next adventure mate.

The thing is even if you hit shitty weather no ride is ever a "bad" ride, other sports you can have a bad game but with cycling you always feel you have done something productive.. I see the Pretorious guys and girls out in Essex UK most weekends, they run a fairly big group ride from what I have seen..

Most of us crew did some pretty hard core training in the months leading up to this - so impressed with the drive of all my fellow pilgrims on this ride!

I more or less don’t flat with tubeless unless I run over large pieces or broken glass or large nails/screws. DynaPlugs take care of the bigger punctures that don’t seal. Maybe time for all these people to abandon inner tubes except as emergency kit.

3 of us didnt puncture for the ride. 2 of us running 32's and low pressure. i think thats the best option for rides like this.
