Scenario: You are mildly neurodivergent at a young age. You understand the concept enough to decide what you want to do about it. Given the chance, would you attempt to suppress certain behaviors and thought patterns in a healthy way to make your development more typical?
Nothing is wrong with being odd, but being normal is easier no matter what. I couldn't wear socks, shoes, OR jeans when I was young due to a sensory issue. Now I don't own sweatpants and I haven't worn sandals or slippers outside in years. Modern TikTok would have told me to be myself, at the expense of... myself. Sometimes, WANTING to be more normal is good. Especially when being "crazy" is fashionable, and neurodivergence is super easy to get diagnosed as when trying.

How you deal with normative pressure and if you want to put in the effort to try and appear normal or more normal is a choice for most people, even those with moderate-strength disabilities. Wether it's worth it or not depends but we should always appreciate the effort and not shut people that are trying out. To imply that being Neurodivergent means you should lean into that aspect is just as condescending as implying that anything but the most milquetoast normal is offensive.

It basically boils down that without perfect information and without perfectly equal, perfectly intelligent, and perfectly knowledgeable people you cannot consent to anything. I think that 98% of older men who claim that they're "only interested in women their own age" are lying either to others or themselves. It's simply natural for a man to be attracted to the most fertile age group of women. You're basically denying one of your basic instincts if you claim that you don't like young women.
Might be that there's the occasional guy who really doesn't have this instinct because something's weird in his brain (the same as with homosexuals, men who are into really fat women or other abnormal sexual preferences that go against the principle of fertility), but for the vast majority of them, I simply don't buy it.

I'm somewhere in between in this thing. While I agree both of them are adults, too much age difference does make me a bit uncomfortable. The older the person is, the greater the age difference can be in my opinion.
This is how the math works in my head- if someone is in early 20s then the difference should not be more than 4-5 years imo(18 is the hard limit). If the person is like 30 then 7-8 years is fine by me. If they are 40, then somewhere around 12-15 years of difference is fine by me and so on.
In the manga the difference is more than 20 years iirc which when you think about it means that the girl was probably learning to walk ans speak while the guy was probably out of college drinking age. This realisation makes it a bit uncomfortable for me.
Speaking of parents, yeah my parents do have like 6 years of age gap and I know people with a decade of age gap, hence I am willing to give these things a dynamic treatment more than a static one.

Happened in Cali years ago without consent of the kids or parents. I think the kids were getting psychological help and some Chinese doctor was experimenting on them. We make laws based on rules, not exceptions.
"Neurodiverse" (ugh, I hate that word) individuals, under certain circumstances, are still protected. The state can determine an individual to be incapable of caring for themselves even if they are 18+. In that instance, they are unable to consent to sex and are effectively still treated like children. That is to say, their parents or legal guardian will be the ones making decisions and signing contracts for them. If they need to go to the hospital or doctor's office, it is not them signing the paperwork to be seen, it is their legal guardian.
If anything, this should be an argument against graduated adulthood, not an argument for making graduated adulthood even worse. Either 18 year olds are adults with the full legal rights, privileges and responsibilities of their 21+ year counterparts or they're minors. As it is, 18-20 year olds fall into a second class citizen status, where they possess some of the rights and privileges of adults, but are prohibited from many of the rights and privileges of adults, are expected to shoulder all of the responsibilities of an adult and have none of the protections of a minor.
Why is it that an 18 year old can be evicted from his parent's house and made homeless, but he can not buy a beer? Why is it that an 18 year old can buy a home, but can not buy a handgun or handgun ammo? Why is he prohibited from smoking or purchasing tobacco? He's too irresponsible to drink or smoke, but he's responsible enough for the state to execute him if he commits a capital offense? He can't rent a car, but he can sign a contract with Uncle Sam and drive a tank? We certainly can not, at least in the modern US, classify 18-20 year olds as "adults", they don't fit the bill. They certainly do not fit the definition of an adult. But they are also most certainly not minors. Perhaps Zenith is onto something with his idea of a "post minor", he is simply going in the wrong direction with it and has the age range too high. Post minors should be classified in the 18-20 year age range, with 21+ being the true age for an adult under current US law.
I wouldn't say that the lack of access to certain vices at 18 would muddle the reality of someone being a legal adult at that age. You also can't run for president until you're at least 35.
Before you say it, gun purchase statutes are very state-variable, as well as contingent on gun type and whether the vendor is licensed. You may not be able to purchase a _handgun_ at 18, but you might be able to purchase a long gun at that age.

There is something interesting in the fact that people with ADHD have Executive Function delays of about 30%. So an 18 year old with ADHD has executive functioning closer to that of a 12 year old. 80+% of such 18 year olds that we send to universities without stimulant medication to help them focus drop out before they finish their degrees. Executive functioning does concern topics like inhibition and addiction, so there is an interesting idea to explore in the statistic that people with ADHD are much more likely to have risky sexual encounters or experiment with drugs *when they're in their teens and twenties.* Because when they're 15 they're effectively a 10 year old in terms of self-control, and when they're 21 they're essentially a 14 year old.
