    It’s crazy how the market has changed. Been running the mongrels with no issues other than a little sketchy on turns. Never had a blow out and have lent my spare numerous times to others who have blown tires. After this video looked at the ultra Ross but would have to switch to a 15” rim to get 32” s so not gonna happen. Probably gonna stick to my 32” mongrels 10ply for now. Great video and man I wanna have your job because I can’t ride near as much as you!

      KR2's wear better and will last longer, amazing grip. I like the width of the Tensor. I'd go KR2, unless you get a better deal on the Tensor. I do prefer the height of the 33" Tensor, it's noticeable in the rocks.

    I have the ITP ultra cross only trouble I’ve had is flats on 2 of the 4 both on the driver side, the lugs seem to trap rocks and get shoved thru the tire, also had trouble with severe out of balance that took a lot of weight to correct, they handle fine and grip fine I ride a lot of rocky trails in Arizona

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 4 lety +1

      Even though a few top racers still use them, it looks like ITP is focused on the Coyote and some other options are better. I still think the ITP Ultracross is a good tire for the price.

      Marshall, I kept it 100% stock and had no belt issues. I've used a Bikeman performance kit in the past, and I could have probably squeezed out more performance with the clutch kit, but IMO a Turbo is plenty quick for the hardpack, and I ran super light 30" Skat Trak paddles for the dunes.

    great info brother. I am in the market for some 32's on our x3 max rs. The BFG's sound great in ur review. Whats ur thoughts on the Maxxis Liberties & Carnivores or Quadboss for the usual terrains here in Az?

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 5 lety +1

      Originally I was excited about the Liberties, but I haven't ridden in them, Maxxis is a really good brand and would consider buying if the price was right. As for Carnivores, the tread pattern seems better suited to different parts of the country, and Quadboss is more of a "budget" play, so honestly I wouldn't consider them, as my assumption is they are cheaply made and heavy. The Tusk Terrabite seems to be loved for the budget tire market, and it won V2R, it's just heavy.

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 3 lety

      32" BFG KR2 Baja or the DS 33", Tensors wear faster but are less expensive. Two of the best right now IMO. The tracking and predictability of our race car improved noticeably when we got rid of the ITP's and switched to Tensors...

  • @jakebarnier5188
    @jakebarnier5188 Před 4 lety +2

    Can you go faster with the 32" vs a 30"? Or does the added weight and power needed to turn the wheels rob the horsepower?

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 4 lety +2

      Top speed? A taller tire could give more top speed, but the speedo would be off. But yes, bigger tires are heavier and acceleration and braking performance isnt as good, but their clearance and bigger size makes holes and whoops smaller, always a trade off...

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 4 měsíci +1

      You will loose a little power and breaking performance, there's no way around it, but they will be much more durable over rough terrain, and smoother. I think you can try them with stock clutching and you might not have issues. Lucky for you the X3 belts and drivetrain are very reliable and a clutch kit can solve any potential problems.
      the ride quality of the bigger, better tires is worth it.

    Why do utv tires have a rounded tread width/tire edge vs car tires that have square edges with flat tread width? For example, bfg has flatter tread width but mongrels are as round as a ball but neither are as flat as a car

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Před 4 lety

      Good question, above my pay grade, but I feel like we went through a "truck tire" phase with SxS owners getting truck tires with the Discount Tire Road Hazard warranty, but they were heavy and caused excessive wear, and people didn't like the square shape as well, these are so much lighter. The Yokahama Super Digger is an example of the opposite, very round, which has always worked well for lightweight buggies, I think the tire can be lighter and slide more predictably, swapp through whoops and it is compliant and they hook up better in loose terrain. Just my 2 pesos... You see wider, flatter, chunkier tires for the rock crawling guys, so it really varies on terrain too.
