I’m a digital artist, and so I can’t imagine how much planning ahead you must do. You guys don’t have the luxury of layers and layer settings, you actually have to figure it out. Such commendable work
@A Passing Ship still, you must buy and reuse paint to layer, and it costs a lot of money. On digital, you can just go back and the mistake you've made will just vanish.
The commentor is definitly right about this

I am an artist and... I could never draw using this process - I am always amazed when mostly realistically painting Artists start somewhere and finish a little area and then move on to the next. I always need to work simultaniously on the whole canvas, slowly rendering out what i want to show, with the whole picture always being in the same level of "finishedness". I know - its a very different process to render something very close to a reference - but to have this kind of accuarate color perception and skill, is marvellous.
And added to this, this is a very pleasing looking portrait. Thank you for sharing.
The girl’s expression changes as she gets painted on. She looks a little scared, then kinda happy, sad, and so on

Oil painting time-lapses are always so fascinating to watch! The theme of "Blossom" sounds particularly enchanting, as it likely captures the beauty and delicate nature of flowers or perhaps even the broader idea of growth and renewal. Watching the painting process in fast-forward must reveal the incredible skill and patience involved in creating such detailed art. It's amazing how artists can bring such vibrant life to their canvas! 🌸🎨✨
One of the most important in pieces of art works like this, is knowing where the highlights are, where the suns reflecting from, where the shade is and the different colours combined to make 'skin colour'. If you've mastered that, you've covered a big part of art.

The fact that she draws this in one sitting is-
I’m amazed 😭
Most likely it’s in 2 or 3 days because oil paint doesn’t dry after that time so yah BUT ITS STILL AMAZING
It’s most likely not one sitting, but it’s incredible
Most likely not one sitting, but i'm amazed that some people actually finish what they start, I cannot relate.
You can string timelapse clips together but its still beyond amazing.
its crazy how painting is less about the actual skill of painting itself but more so the skill of observation
Timelapse is magical. The seamless speed gives you an unexplainable sense of joy.
I've always wondered how artists like her just KNOW which paints to mix to get that one specific skin shade like how does that work?
they usually plan ahead exactly what colors they’re going to use
I think its lots of trial and error, theyre trying to match shades to the reference photo and probably didnt get the shades right the first time but after doing a lot of portraits you learn how to make most skin tones and stuff like that
It’s mostly trial and error lol
It takes tons of practice and using color theory with reference photos. Eventually with enough experience, some are able to just create the right tones intuitively, but using references every now and then still helps a ton.
They don’t just know, they study to know.
Hey Daria, are you able to do a live painting for us? I really would like to see the strokes and different brushes you use.

She either traces using the light from her device or she drew using proportions and all that stuff

I know how much effort a blank canvas, a two dots on a canvas and a video as the one you saw takes.
And, my very brand is the over analyst. I can justify & explain the great depth of literally anything. Even the two dots.

This is actually very instructive at 1/4 speed. Thank you for doing it. Very accurate color mixing. My favorite spot is when the second eye started going it.
