@@Mr22thou Wrong, Peter Sellers is a comic genius, Clouseau is a walking disaster, a hurricane or vulcano eruption are nothing compare to Clouseau. lol
Was the outbreak of a terrible fire ever funnier? Sellers rightfully gets most of the credit for the hilarity of these films but let's not forget Blake Edwards brilliant direction. There's more than one genius behind the laughs.
His clothes were still ember so it lit up the paper.....that was really hilarious as silly as it may appear to many, there is something about his persona that he could say anything and it would bring belly laughter regardless of how many times you have seen the very scene.
"Clouseau starts the fire, though we didn't light it, but we tried to fight it. Clouseaux starts the fire, it was always burning since the world's been turning!"
Yes, wasn't that obvious in the cinema on a single watching. But now with the ability to watch scenes over and over you can see these tricks all over the place.
If you listen very carefully at 0:22 you can hear Clouseau clip a lighter to light the paper then watch his arm put the lighter in his left trouser pocket ~ top funny scene
No one was better than Peter Sellers in his role as Inspector Clouseau. 😀
Do you have a Riem för me?
Clouseau’s natural reaction is to bail, and hope nobody notices the fire.
One of the many things I find so funny in these films is the way Clouseau sneaks away when he realizes that he screwed up...again.
He's had plenty of practice.
Blake Edwards was one of the greatest comedy directors in cinematic history, arguably.
where there's smoke there's Clouseau!
And where there's Clouseau, there's trouble!
+jediskunk67 Enough to drive a man like Dreyfus to madness !
David Sutt
only clouseau would say "solv-ed"
Closeau lives forever.
The iceberg wouldn't have gone anywhere near the Titanic if he'd been on board.
True, but only because with him on board it would have sunk before it ever got near the iceberg.
@@Lucius_Chiaraviglio Haha, yeah most likely it'd have sunk in Belfast, lol. He'd have saved thousands of lives though! :D
the speed that fire spread lol, how can anyone watch this without laughing
Gotta love movies before CGI.
I know it
I know it
Who? What? When? Where?
Well Dreyfus always said give me ten men like Clouseau, i can destroy the world!!
Actually, 5 might have been enough to do the trick.
...and he quickly left like if he never was there. brilliant.
I must be off to apprehend this mad buemmer.
FIRE
Clouseau is a genius.
Yeah. A comic genius.

The film editing is fantastic.

You mean... it was the Surete... surely no monsieur...
"Au revoir, Hercule" "Fire!".
Tsk. Every schoolboy knows you're not meant to use the lift in the event of a fire.
wpl955g, that is what made this funny!😃

If u look VERY closely, u can see Peter Sellers pulling out a lighter and back in his pocket.
You can also here the click of the lighter at 0.21
The sprinklers will only spray where the fire is. The fire melts a small plug in the sprinkler and it sprays until it is turned off.

Maybe the overwhelming volume of the opening and closing music annoyed them terribly.
"Before he does any more of the damaarge in here" - lol
Clouseau and mayhem are buddies.
@peevishly The idea is that he is still a bit on fire from the explosion which ignited the paper... Go to use your imagination a bit. :D

the clips are great, but the pink page in-between has volume 10 times the clips!!! VERY annoying
What? You'll have to speak up. I am now totally deaf.
I feel bad for the set designer for theses movies, they make amazing sets only to see them destroyed.
❤🎉❤
Heeh! :)
As Dreyfus would say " Idiot!!!"
👍
You can see Sellers start the fire with a lighter...

Tut! Tut! One ought not to use an elevator during a fire.
In case of fire don't use the elevator!
Inspector Trump burns everything on his way out too.

Even on the surface--this is incredibly stupid! Like he wouldn't notice the place was on fire....
Nobody takes their eyes off closeau when they are near
