Make sure the wii doesn't suck up a gamecube ans not let it out. My wii is gamecube compatable but the small discs get stuck for some reason.

DO YOU not know that White wiis CAN PLAY dvds you just need to have the wii to run WIImc to play the dvd since WIIMC enable the drive to play DVDs Nintendo didn't want to pay the licensing needed for DVD playback but this got patched on later different colored wiis

The original Wii (any Wii with Gamecube compatibility) actually had the capability to play DVDs, it was just disabled in the firmware so Nintendo didn't have to pay a commission per console. That could be remedied by modding the console to re-enable that functionality.
Oh man the dvd apps were RUDEMENTARY though. It was definitely not the ideal way to watch movies but in a pinch it did get the job done.

Your content is fine, but people are clearly frustrated with your titles and thumbnails. The title implies that on your journey of repairing old consoles you stumbled across some sensitive information. I think you could alleviate this frustration by simply making your metadata more accurate to the content of the videos, or vice versa. A less misleading title for this video or others like it would be something like "People don't reset their consoles | Hampton Haul Part X" You can still be vague about it so long as it directly addresses the implication of the title within the first minute of the video. Otherwise people feel a little lost or misled within the first minute. I'd recommend looking at @GregSalazar 's channel for reference. Or you could continue engaging the algorithm by frustrating people enough to leave comments or suggestions. Might get you more views in the end though? Your choice if you want to sacrifice your integrity and subscriber trust for that. You decide how you make and present the content and the viewers decide if they'll stick around. I'm just saying, there are ways to keep their trust and gain their respect. Good luck to you in your console repairing journey!

I'm not surprised at all that a lot of these Wiis dont have much in terms of saves on them. The console was really inexpensive, but the games were really expensive. I remember growing up with a small library because we couldn't afford $50 for a game that came out 5 years prior. The prices of nintendo games have always been incredible ludicrous.
some mario games still sell for 50 bucks used... or about 5 times more than what a fully functional console is worth. it's insane. no wonder every second wii i come across is jailbroken
when you account for inflation, newly released nintendo 64 games cost the equivalent of $120 today.

I'm also not surprised, the Wii sold like hotcakes, but the games didn't. People bought the Wii because it was the thing you had to buy, but the people buying it weren't gamers.
I love seeing consoles from the 2000s - early 2010s still selling smoothly on the internet. And I hope its legacy lasts long!

If I remember correctly. DVDs can work when the Wii is jailbroken. There was a home brew player app.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is actually pretty good if you're into medieval settings and light RPG elements. The combat can be challenging at first as it's directional based and requires some timing but it gets easier as you progress and level up more. I really like that style of combat though but I did see people complain about it. It's worth a shot if you like that style / setting. If you don't care for knights and shit though I wouldn't bother.
I was rather surprised he had never heard of it before. I've never played it, but I've seen it all over.
Seeing all these old consoles probably used to death being booted up and still working gives such a nice vibe to it.

Watching these videos brings me back to when I was Maybe 14-15 years old, getting the YLOD on my first ever fat ps3 after talking so much shit about the 360 getting the Red rings, after watching many OG videos on CZcams I found it was just a thermal paste issue, took it apart myself, cleaned the old thermal paste off, applied new paste with an old blockbuster card and then it worked no problem. My parents were in disbelief

As it turns out (due to a lot of help in the community), the YLOD was caused by bad GPUs on models with the 90nm RSX, and NEC caps on models with the 65nm RSX. The 360 GPU on the Xenon - EARLY-Falcon (LATE-Falcons made in May '08 and all Opus boards and later fixed this) had a defect with the underfill supporting the GPU die's connection to the substrate/interposer (the green part of the GPU), which would soften at the GPU's default target temp *and* expand due to a spike in the CTE. The only permanent fix sadly for these faulty GPUs is replacement, so unless you have a rare/valuable console, you're better off getting a later Phat or Slim PS3 or a 360 phat, slim or E made in May '08 or later.
18:58 that can happen if your using homebrew like usb loader, you can disable these logs when using usb loader but it could also bee that the wii used to be setup to autoboot to the homebrew channel or something like usb loader as message like wii sports records will not be received until the wii is booted into the stock system menu, you can check if priiloader is installed by holding down the RESET button when starting the wii
What is with the video title? Which Wii should have been banned? You say people should reset their Wiis, I assume you mean they should clear all their user data before transferring ownership of them, they should do that with any device they get rid of.

I used my family's wii as a DVD player for years. The white ones all worked as long as you used a homebrew channel app. The Red one we got later did not work however, as Nintendo removed the ability in hardware.
This should be a reminder that you should wipe your game consoles before giving them away or selling them off. Not just game consoles either, but laptops, PCs, phones, the amount of tech that's just thrown away or sold leaving behind personal information that someone could use against you. Even if you think it's insignificant amount of information, always destroy your data properly. destroy the disk if you have to, because replacing them is really cheap these days particularly mechanical drives, since they're being slowly replaced with solid state drives that have increasing read-write speeds.
this is the first time I've seen the disk drive mechanisms inside these consoles, and MAN are they satisfying

Jacob, thanks for what you doing, it’s so interesting to watch what you can find from a bunch of old consoles, so nostalgic for me. I had Xbox 360 elite when I was a kid, so good memories. Unfortunately I sold it when I’m was around 14-15 y.o., didn’t understand at that time what I’m doing. Nowadays I bought Star Wars edition Xbox 360 and play on it. 12:09 It seems to be an issue with that model of Xbox one when not used often (in terms of disc drives). My old ass Xbox One from launch does the same when I go home to visit family. It is crazy but yes essentially it probably just needs to be cleaned but it will take a few disc going in and out before it starts to work.

i remember a couple years ago gs told be the most they could offer for a copy of wii sports was 25cents, so i started selling games at pawn shops instead when i needed gas money.

The fact that any of those Wiis had a working disc drive is amazing to me. 4/5 Wiis that my immediate family owns have had their disc drives fail, and they were all bought new over the course of a few years back in the day. And the last one that hasn't had a failed disc drive I simply don't believe my sister has used it in years and so I suspect it'll turn out to have failed next time she uses it.
I should also mention that we aren't terribly hard on our stuff. Our Wiis are in very good condition, nothing broken off, no gross stuff stuck to them or anything. Just, eventually they stopped being able to read discs.
2/3 of ours met the same fate, the latest being rarely used, and the first one actually only lasted a couple months iirc

My Xbox one since fairly after launch has ALWAYS Had issues with playing discs. I've had to put it on an angle to get it to read and eventually it just failed. I believe it's a common issue with the og xbones.
There was homebrew software that allowed playing DVDs on the Wii.

You can play DVD's on a Wii with homebrew, but only on early models.
Love the content! As someone who's been messing with YT for a couple months (but totally not qualified to be giving advice to a channel with 421K more subs than me) I'd probably add subtle music. It'd keep the viewers attentive while you test out your consoles and see what works.
Those L01 consoles are usually nec token replacement because it has the 65nm rsx.
I use my Wii so much I did an internal HDMI mod. I'm getting more through Muramasa than I did before. Did a little SSX Blur until I remembered how I hated the motion controls that don't really match up with the trick. We've been occasionally playing Wii Sports Resort. Switch Sports is good but you can't deny that the Wiimotes and balance board provide a better experience.

That last 360 was definitely bundled with Kinect, judging by the games.
Kinect Adventures, DanceMasters (AKA Dance Evolution in Japan and PAL regions), Your Shape and Zumba all requires a Kinect sensor.
BTW DanceMasters is actually made by the developers of Dance Dance Revolution, you can watch a “gameplay” of the game in the infamous Konami E3 press conference in 2010.
Seeing this a month later, so probably already been mentioned, but I think some of those early VCR Xbox One's had disc drive issues. I remember I would hate swapping games because sometimes I'd have to eject and reinsert till it finally loaded a game. I remember reading somewhere there was speculation a later update would fix it. I eventually got tired of waiting and sent it in to Microsoft and they replaced the drive.

I have one of those 360’s somewhere in my storage… I got my hddvd painted to match it(which is also somewhere in storage) I don’t use it anymore because I’ve got the halo 4 console… that I also don’t use, but if I ever needed to pull out one of my 360’s, it would be the halo 4 one…

The wii I have has the usual stuff: Save files from the previous owner. But in the last page of the wii menu, there's the photo channel and there I can see the photo of a kid. I don't have any idea who that is. I believe the previous owner put the photo channel way in the back to hide it or something?

The yellow light of death is usually caused by the tokin capacitors.
This is not the case. Search for “felix ps3” and look for the 1hr+ long video on the subject. It’s a great watch if you’re into that kind of thing

actually you can play dvd on your wii. If you have a 2008 or before model it has dvd playback functionality
Xbox One is just funky like that. With mine, I have to hold the disc for a second as the drive is sucking it in before letting it go for the drive to actually read it. This was after I replaced the entire drive, so either both were faulty (doubtful) or there's something else up with the console. Reads fine when I do that, though.
i used to do the same thing on my launch xb1. you gotta hold it till the drive cranks up faster then let it go. itll read perfectly then
This is the correct answer. You have to hold it for a second and it will try to pull it in harder, then release. The disc doesn't seem to usually seat correctly in these early models otherwise.

Yeah, same. I mainly boot up my Wii for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (and GameCube games in general), I use my Wii U for Wii and Wii U.

Also kinda boring to just take consoles and plug them in and see them working. Like that's fine, good even as it means that people can just get and use these immidiately, but especially with stuff like Wii missing the flaps, just have 3D print new flaps or the consoles which are scratched to hell get whole new housing and proper cleaning and all that.
Black wii's are not compatible with game cube the ports for the controllers may still be there but there covered up and you cant get to them unless you pull the rectangle piece of plastic off ive had two black wiis and when i put a game cube game in it says the disc isnt recognized
it's kind of baffling how no console has ever been upgradable, you always have to buy the next model. it would be nice to have a console we could just repair ourselves and upgrade at home, like a modular console. it would also make repairing bulk loads of consoles like this much more efficient.
Hey mate as a sort of heads up for videos of this type of thing could you wear gloves for whenever you have a really dirty/filthy console cause whenever I see you touching these consoles that have been left in god knows where I just feel bad for you and personally it makes my OCD play up and you know in case you find some uncomfortable stuff in these things.

The Xbox One original was notorious for bad Blu-Ray drives, mine would not recognize xbox one discs or would but fail but would also occasionally recognize and play 360 games but to get any game to work I would keep encountering that spin up then down defect until i kept inserting and ejecting the disc. I ended up just buying all my games digitally and eventually upgrading to a series S

My softmodded Wii has a disc upside down because that way I don't hear the laser seeking when booting.
