My old Wii is long gone, but I remember turning it on one day and going to the message board to find messages from both my parents. I forget the exact details, but they were nice messages for me. It was nice to go there after doing something in Wii Sports and seeing both my parents left notes for me

@MLT Hall Of Famer I’m sure a Tomodachi for the switch would work pretty similarly to one on the 3DS. Plus, Nintendo would most likely add some new fun features to a sequel.
Amusingly enough, the feature Iwata originally intended as a light parental control backfired in my house. Because I'm a stickler for notification lights, I would always check the playtime just to get rid of it. You can imagine 4th grade me's confusion when I started finding this weird game I didn't even own on there. Well, it turns out my dad had bought Metroid Prime 3 for himself, and had been playing it after I went to bed. He didn't want to show me because he thought I might be too young based on the rating, but he was forced to let me watch after I figured it out. The feature that was meant to bust the child busted the parent instead!

@@NatetheNintendofan Maybe my comment is worth rereading because I don't believe I said scary anywhere. Regardless of that, my dad was the one who judged what games I got to play and his first thing was to (responsibly) check the ESRB rating. As I was only 9 at the time, decidedly NOT a teen, his first choice was not to let me watch/play. He did the same thing a year or two later with Half-Life.
Regardless of ratings, do you know how annoying it is to try to do anything with an elementary school kid backseating you?

The Nintendo Wii is still my favourite console. The Interface, The Music, The Channels, The Motion Controls. Combine that with the Switch and Next Gen graphics, we would have my favorite console of all time.
I personally perfer this over the switch.
Most of all: The Homebrew Channel.
The wii u is better than the switch.

I loved playing my old wii. I was around 1 when the wii was released, so i grew up with it. Even after we got a XboxOneS, a Nintendo Switch, ect, we still used the wii the most. Those nice nights when me, my older sister and older brother would just play mariokart or Wii Sports Resorts.
I wadn't a Xbox or Play Station kid, so when I first played Wii sports, I was hooked.

@PRDX Growing I remember getting my Wii in like 2010. I still have it, but it sits on my shelf, continually expanding its dust collection as it watches me put the Wii U on Wii game duty.

I ordered a used Wii last week because when it came out I didn't have the best homelife and I couldn't watch/use the tv at all, but I used to see one at every other kid's house, Now after 15 years I can finally enjoy what I couldn't as a kid and I'm super excited for it to arrive

I’m so happy that I’m old enough to share nostalgia for things like the Wii. The Wii is just the perfect thing to learn about for me, between the nostalgia, the tech, and the wholesome Nintendo-ness, I just find it so interesting
It took us 15 years to find the Startup disc and we finally found it. The startup disc is no longer lost... We saw the text we could never see before we found it and now we have it.

I love the Mii characters. I mean, they got alot of charme and some people got really creative with their faces and turn them into art. And don't forget that thanks to the Mii's, you can play as (a cartoony) yourself! I wish Nintendo would give Mii's a bit more attention (I mean, they're still in the Switch but the Mii Maker is hidden in the system menu).
One of my Mii's is Jessica. I really love her. I made her on my Wii back in 2008 or 2009 IIRC. I have her in all my other Nintendo consoloes. I have her as my sidekick in SSB4/SSBU, as my wife in Tomodachi Life, as a roomie in Miitomo, as a "profile" in Wii Fit U to have her appear in the games when I play it, and even more.
I remember when the Wii was called the Nintendo Revolution. I also remember the Wii Shop music scaring the crap out of me because the music starts at full volume after a total silence while connecting.

I love how they changed the padding and turned the DVD graphic invisible instead of removing it.
My mom received a Wii for Christmas a year or two after launch, and I was definitely the one who used it the most. My favorite game used to be Wii Sports Resort, but I lost the copy that came with the console years ago. Last Christmas, however, my mom bought me a new copy. I learned that if you sit on the title screen long enough, the system keeps a record of activity within the game which is displayed with copies of how the Miis looked when it happened, even if they were edited later. I think that's a very sweet touch, as I got to reminisce about my time in the 2000s and 2010s spent playing the Wii with my sister and cousins.

The DVD fact is the most interesting one to me. I always remember wishing it could play DVDs to at least some extent. Funny to now know that if I mod it, it actually can lol
I'm not sure why he didn't mention it, but Nintendo at one point did announce that as a possibility but only on a specific model instead of it being standard. Having Netflix did kinda make up for it, I remember in the very early days one had to ask Netflix to sent a free disk in order to have this functionality, eventually they were able to release an app.

The reason why it wasn't available as an app but a disc was because of a loophole with a Microsoft agreement. Microsoft had an exclusive agreement to include a Netflix app on the Xbox 360, but it didn't mention a disc that did the same thing. @@sion8
