Fun fact: some of the unused voice lines from SpongeBob Patrick and Sandy were eventually added into battle for bikini bottom rehydrated like The voice line where Patrick says "Don't look down Patrick, Don't look down, AHHH I LOOKED!!"
And funnily enough some of them that were in the files and dubbed were unused haha
The unused cruise missile line was readded.
I noticed that. I had played through the PS2 version not long before the remake came out.

I knew I heard those voice lines somewhere
with Mr Krabs "talking" through the typewriter, I always just took it as Spongebob reading the letter and it was in Krabs voice like a lot of shows do.

Fun fact: they didn’t remove the bubble bounce functions on the other trampolines. Those trampolines never had them in the first place. The developers gave their programmers a lot of freedom when making the game and let them add their own ideas, and one programmer had the idea of bubble bouncing on trampolines
Plus that explains why certain grounded buttons react to the cruise bubble
I wish all game dev studios did that

29:53 fun fact! You actually CAN get across the gap as Spongebob in the final game with the help of a trick called cruise boosting. You can then get on top of the acorn and collect the spatula there via a trick the community calls fast nut.

Acorns are very laggy in like wayy to many games. In Super Mario Odyssey there is a speed run glitch called the wet nut. You put an acorn in water then if you keep throwing it and grabbing it in mid air (ofc thats the simplified version of it) you can get across large gaps and even break the game.

Here’s a fun fact: none of the Dream levels have skyboxes, it’s just that Patrick’s Dream didn’t have its background cylinder implemented

Yeah, excluding Sandy’s Dream, each Dream level has a rotating cylinder to serve as a background. If you disable Hans and go outside of them, there isn’t a skybox, and the same effect as the one in Patrick’s Dream can be seen.

I remember at the beginning of the dream world, since spongebob's house is so close to the edge of the cylinder, you could put a cruise bubble through and see the texture.

If you told me that this game was made by devs who just had the license haphazardly offered to them and were only given about a year to make a whole game from it, I would've told you that it is guaranteed trash.

Destroying Weenie Hit Jr's Michael Bay style would've been the most epic and probably over the top moment in the game had it been there, proving how tough SpongeBob REALLY is. But oh well.
This is certainly my favorite episode of Beta64 starring my childhood game. Thank you so much Heavy Iron Studios!

Fun fact: The "sick trick" patrick does isn't removed, it's just done manually by twiddling the joystick mid launch
How do I twiddle the joystick?
I tried to do it in Rehydrated, no sick trick here.

@@ThiccSteveYT "twiddle" means "shaking around in circles"... You see at 31:07 how the player turns Patrick around in circles while in the air. That's it. That's the sick trick that Beta64 was talking about. And no, you do not get any shiny objects. And by the way... Rehydrated is a completely different game with a different engine.

Wife introduced me to this game in 2009. Started speedrunning it when I realized nobody else was. I just genuinely loved the game, too. Spongebob or not, it’s one of the best games ever created, and you cannot change my mind.
Fun fact: the unused SpongeBob doodle seen at 1:06:39 was then later reused in the "drawn to life: SpongeBob edition" game card for when inside the 3DS or The DS
The most interesting fact is that Andrew has worked hard to research everything about BFBB and sharing his content to us.

I’m really sad they never added Patrick’s sundae dream back in rehydrated
They had plans to add it back but for some reason they never finished it, i'm guessing because Nick wanted the game to be as faithful to the OG as possible. The level itself is still in the game files but without textures so everything is grey, also no buggy skybox stuff.
Let’s all appreciate how much research Beta64 has done & reached out to the original developers just for this video!

Still love this game to this day, both the original and the remaster. I have fond memories playing this on my GameCube as a kid with my dad. I really wish Muscle Bob would have been included as a boss fight honestly, would've been really cool.

This game was my literal childhood. I'm so glad we're still finding a bunch of stuff to talk about after all these years, even having a remake of it recently last year. It goes to show how much passion the devs put into making this game and the impact it left on people. I'll never forget it
This game was so amazing when we were kids. It perfectly captured the essence of the show, and I still consider it one of the best platformers I've ever played. Good times.

This was an amazing episode! Even though I’ve heard about quite a lot about the development and seen most all of the early assets of this game, you still made it feel fresh and fun to revisit all of it and the new stuff you discovered is just the onion on top of the smelly sundae.

As somebody who's been watching your channel since the beginning, this is definitely my favorite video of yours. It's incredible looking back to the earlier videos you had trying to mix comedic skits and quips into the videos and seeing how much improvement there's been. The editing, timing, and writing is all top notch, I'm glad you didn't give up on it after the backlash and kept working on it, because it's paid off insanely well. Can't wait to see some more stuff from you!

I guess concept arts are just concepts... hearing that most of them never have a reason why it was made in the first place kinda makes me sad... like the concept robots, Glove World, Godzilla FishBot even Robo-Squidward who was the biggest unused content in the original game, i thought we will get a new information like where it would be placed, how it was the attacks, what the tasks to face him and etc, but in the end... as like Andrew said he wishes to said more about it, Robo-Squidward still remains a mystery.
However the hardwork in making this video is kinda impressive and i thank you Andrew for delivering this video. While the information that i needed (Concept Unused Content) wasn't there... the other fun fact are still interesting. I kinda wished that Rehydrated still include the Unused Content that was present in the original game files like the Sundae, MuscleBot boss phase, unused NPC and many more... At least those things will fill up the promise in their Steam Page

Rather than just Robo-Squidward and Patrick's Dream being placed in the Horde Mode that nobody would be enjoyed.
the reason the cut content isnt there is cause viacom (the owner of nick i think) rushed the game out and the pandemic took 3 months off the game development so blame viacom or nick for the game being rushed

By the way, if Dream ever wants to speedrun Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom, ban him. Gatekeep this cheater, he already cheated Minecraft, can't let him ruin Spongebob. Also, gatekeep Dream stans, they are toxic. Also screw Dream for cheating in Minecraft, cheating is pathetic, I think Dream should've been cancelled for cheating, he doesn't deserve a career after that. Also screw his stans, Dream could eat a fetus, and his stans would cheer him on, screw that. Oh, and Dream's merch sucks, he voted for glowsquid, he framed John Swan, he sends his stans to witchhunt people, he's worse than Jaystation in all honesty. Some may argue he is worse than OJ Simpson, I don't know if that is the case, but that might be true. Screw Dream.

As someone who made my own BFBB Beta Community Server, I myself did not know about the LODs and some of the other stuff.
[Also I was the guy who ripped the (old? at least I THINK it's old.) throw fruit texture and old X icon. I would definitely look and see if there's more in there but at the time I was kinda lazy lol. This was like a year or two ago at least I think.]
Oh yeah speaking of which, the Old Goo Lagoon Restoration Mod is actually on that server! I'll share a link to it tomorrow.
